Specialties
Wonder Fair is an art gallery and gift shop specializing in the creation and thoughtful curation of prints, fine stationery, and zines.
The spirit of Wonder Fair lies in the conviction that creativity is essential for the wellbeing of individuals and their community. Wonder Fair believes in the power of the handmade, the connecting and transformative properties of art, and the importance of shared experience.
Our practical commitment to these beliefs is to maintain a gallery, a site for social dialogue and creative exchange. Through the gallery and our rigorous exhibition schedule and a diverse range of special events, we form a hub of interconnectivity, a link between family, friends, and like-minded strangers within Lawrence and beyond. Through our shop, we approach these beliefs with entrepreneurial verve empowering artists and enriching the community.
History
Established in 2008.
Wonder Fair was created by KU Illustration alum Eric Dobbins, and is currently owned and operated by Meredith Moore, a lapsed Art History doctoral student, and Paul DeGeorge, a wizard. Paul and Meredith are assisted by a crew of dedicated printmakers, illustrators, designers, and other paper people.
Originally located below an Organic Market, in April 2010 Wonder Fair relocated to its current home above the Casbah Burger Stand at 803 ½ Massachusetts St. At this time the Wonder Fair family expanded to include artists Kelly John Clark, Lee Piechocki, and Jason Barr. In 2011, care of the Wonder Fair was passed to staff member Moore, who has proudly carried its banner ever since.
