First time trying this place. The food is really good! I had the hibachi chicken dinner with the shrimp tempura roll and it was amazing! I will be back again!

The food was delicious and I loved it. My only gripe was the fact that there was only one server and our service was excruciatingly slow. She was amazing though. I’m definitely going back but I would definitely recommend getting another server.

I felt like having a vegetarian lunch. There are not many places in the Lawrenceville, area that serve good vegetarian food. The Chef was there by himself and service was slow. With that being said the food and service were still worth the wait. I had the Tempura Vegetable roll and the sweet potato roll. They were great and the price was equally good. I would recommend Aha Sushi. Be patient it’s a family business and the service can be slow but it’s well worth the with. Have tea while you wait for your food.

We have been waiting for an hour and a half and still have not gotten our food. Do not go here if you are hungry, unless you are prepared for a ridiculous wait time.

I’ve known the chef David for years and I always come back to him, he’s funny, smart, creative, most importantly he makes awesome sushi at very good prices, I made it here on a Saturday night, it was so cold out but he welcomed three of us at the bar, offered us hot tea from his hometown in China. He asked me what I wanted for dinner, I said«Omakase please», that’s always been the case, UPTOTHECHEF! I loved the salmon belly, the sauce was very light and added perfect flavor to the fat, the volcano on top of a bed of rice was creamy and flavorful, my love for the fried cheesecakes has always been attached to David’s restaurant, their tempura is so crispy unique, different from traditional Japanese tempura when you only get a batter dipped in grease. Overall it’s a great experience in the neighborhood, it’s close to Mall of Georgia so if you are done shopping you could make a stop here.

Walked in earlier today around 6pm for dinner after j got off work. It was quiet and I was the only customer there. The waitress was very nice and polite and she seated me in a booth before giving me a menu and taking my drink order(water). I loved how much there was on the menu! From appetizers to entrees to bentos to sushi, it was great! In my opinion, I think the prices were reasonable. I wasn’t very hungry and I thought, «Hey, it’s a sushi place. I should get sushi.» So I stayed away from the entrees(for now) and ordered a Sashimi&nigiri(I think) combo with a spicy tuna roll. It came with a small salad and a small bowl of miso soup; both were very tasty. The sushi/sashimi/nigiri was good. I found out that I didn’t like the spicy tuna roll but I finished it because I didn’t want to waste food. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth amazing and the nigiri was awesome! I loved how there was a good rice-to-fish ratio because there are some places that have too much rice and too little fish/filling. I paid around $ 21 for the meal and oh man… it was so worth it. I would definitely go back and try some more!

My wife and I love sushi, so we’ve obviously tried many places around Gwinnett County. Aha has an excellent selection of rolls both on and off the menu. Prices are very competitive as well. Best part: its the best tasting sushi, in my opinion, in the area and the portion sizes are pretty large as well. Other places around will be similar prices but the rolls aren’t quite as big. This place is our go-to every time now for sushi. Hands down.

Amazing sushi! Seriously the best around. I can’t wait to go back! When I we the place was packed, and it was a week day. That should tell you something about the food. I had the New Years roll and America roll? You won’t regret getting those.

Excellent food and service. They were flexible with changing some things on the menu to accommodate my dislike for tuna. They were willing to change an item within a combo deal. They were very informative about certain items and checked on us regularly. Never had an empty glass. Food was amazing. Had spring rolls for an appetizer, which were delicious. Got a combo the had salmon, shrimp, crab, spicy tuna(for the gf) and white tail. It was under the«selection B». Very good deal. Came with miso soup and salad. Everything was delicious. Location — great Service — excellent Food — amazing Price — excellent

This place is so underrated due to the location it’s in. This is one of my favorite spots to go for sushi. Rolls that I highly recommend is aburi salmon(favorite), lambada roll, scallop roll. There are several more but that’s all I can remember right now plus I order these most of the time I come. There are a variety of appetizers there and they’re quite delicious. Few appetizers I recommend: soft shell crab, volcano, tuna tataki, tuna avocado. Tempura udon is really good there as well. The reason I gave a 4 star is some of the stir fried(ie: yakisoba/haikus on) dishes tend to be salty. So I recommend ordering sushi/apps/soups. Another thing is they tend to put a lot of Japanese mayo as garnish and it can be very overpowering and mask the taste of the sushi itself.

Great place for sushi. HUGE surprise since it is located at a strip mall in Lawrenceville. People working there were not the friendliest, but service was good. Sushi tasted very fresh. Sticky rice was super fresh and so were the other ingredients. Did not have to wait long before all the food came out. Very affordable pricing. 2 adults and a 12 years old ate for $ 31.00 plus tip.

Violations! Violations! Violations! They are all over WSB Channel 2 Action News today for a score of 48. Apparently the score includes no soap in the women’s restroom and more. They are rumored to have closed for a deep cleaning, etc. Fingers crossed that they will fully comply and pass the next inspection. This is simply an FYI.

Very horrible fake Japanese food made by Chinese cook or whatever. It’s obvious it’s not Japanese owned as there’s a Japanese translation error on the menu. After I ate their lunch and got nauseous afterwards. First, when I arrived at this place and looking for a bathroom, they told me to go to a men’s bathroom with a bossy attitude. Eeeek! I was hoping Unilocaler’s reviews were tight, but I ordered a lunch box, but everything in it was wrong. Sushi was made with watery rice, and the grains of rice were all squished. And sushi rice didn’t have any flavors; it even didn’t taste vinegar at all like I should’ve. Tempura was super stiff and greasy. And their Katsu tasted weird with a weird sauce on it. I asked what they put on it, then the unfriendly waitress said, «it’s teriyaki sauce.» Why the hell they put teriyaki sauce on it when It’s supposed to be tonkatsu sauce served on the side as a dipping sauce. So I asked the waitress for tonkotsu sauce, then she argues with me saying, «this is the only kind of sauce we have.» What kind of Japanese restaurant who serve katsu on the menu don’t carry tonkatsu sauce? Then finally the fussy waitress went back up to the kitchen and quietly brought back some tonkatsu sauce. This place’s menu is priced slight cheaper than the real authentic Japanese restaurants, but they completely lack of the food quality, authenticity, and the spirit of Japanese food. They also lack of hospitality or courtesy. Both of the waitress and sushi chef were emotionless and impolite. I felt nauseous from their food for 2 days. Never again.

Got the smoked salmon katsu roll, shrimp tempura, miso soup, California roll, and gyoza. Tried a little of each one. Smoked salmon katsu roll was delicious but pretty heavy can’t imagine eating the whole two rolls. The shrimp tempura was super crispy and delicious. The miso soup was pretty good. The California roll was like any other. Good and fresh too. The gyoza was very yummy! And I loved the dipping sauce it was the same for the shrimp tempura. I ordered for pick up and the place was pretty dead but I still waited over 15 min from the original wait of 20. So that wasn’t fun but I wasn’t in a hurry. The total was $ 5 more than I had calculated but I felt uncomfortable asking the prices once they asked for the payment. Oh well. Great fresh tasty food. Overall the good deserves 5 stars!

Such a small little place that if you dare speak loud, your conversation will resonate through the whole restaurant. Um. Yeah. This place was small, not tiny, but fairly small. With an early dinner around 5:30PM on a Saturday night, this place was dead until later on when there was a steady stream of folks that came in. If there were half stars, I would give them 3.5, but as it stands, my first impression of this place wasn’t awesome so 3 stars it is. I suppose it was the sushi we choose, but we weren’t wowed by the great review of the sushi here. Appetizers: The seaweed salad was pretty good. It was fresh and proportion wise was decent. The fried tofu was yummy. The dough it was cooked in was crispy and semi-sweet so it added to the tofu’s plain flavor. The raw beef slices were pretty good as well. Unsure what this was called, but my friend seemed to like it. It was pretty good too as I took a sample. Main dishes: We ordered sushi, and it was okay… The presentation was there. The quality was decent. The sashimi pieces that were ordered were small though. The size of each piece was undersized. I should have taken a picture. :/The crunch eel with shrimp roll I had under the specialty section was pretty good. Although my friend did think the eel was left out since it wasn’t visible. The scallop roll under the hand roll section was good, but it was stuffed with too much rice. It wasn’t even spicy as described. Service was decent. Since the restaurant was fairly small, the employees were readily available. They were attentive and sweet. There was a miniature dessert item filled with cream at the end so that added to the adorableness of this place. Parking was okay since Aha Sushi was in a complex with Publix. This is near the BrandsMart end of Buford Drive btw.

Went here last night with my big sis and her bf. We went here because they said they found this place through scout mob and wanted to show me mall of georgia since apparently I have been stay 15 minutes away and never realized how close it was to me. It wasn’t busy when we went, just one other table. Aka, we got our food fast. The presentation was clean cut, ingredients quality was okay(i didnt get sick lol), tasty, etc. Im not a picky eater so its not hard to impress me lol. Just give me a roll that won’t fall apart on me when I eat with chopsticks, i won’t get sick eating it, and make it tasty lol. Thats all I ask. Oh, and they give little fried cheesecake bites at the end which is nice(watch out, they are really hot so give them a few seconds to cool before eating them ^-^). Oh, and price isn’t bad. Overall, I had a good time, got my food quick, liked it, etc. Would recommend. Probably useful location to get some sushi if your near the mall.

Summer 2015: Great service & food, had a bit of an issue with the cardboard floating in my beverage but our server was gracious and apologetic. The staff here is really caring and hospitable. We had the«Selection B» dinner, yum. Really really enjoyed our experience here. Lovely, charming little sushi shop up towards Suwannee. Interior is cute, comfortable and roomy seating, pleasant staff. To start off, we ordered the fried veggie roll apetizers, they were called«spring rolls» but were really fried rolls. Not what we expected but tasty nonetheless. I ordered the salmon sushi combo, served with miso soup and ginger dressed salad. The soup had small bits of tofu, really one of the better miso soups I’ve had. Salad was average, just a bit overdressed for my taste but very tasty as well. The salmon combo was a plentiful amount of rolled salmon sushi and salmon nigiri. Very fresh and had obviously been made as we ordered it, which is a good sign of quality sushi. The prices for the quality were right on the spot, and this place will definitely be on my list for sushi. Highly recommend if you aren’t looking for any nonsense sushi will frilly sauces and sides. This place is straight forward, good sushi. And look forward to a treat dessert at the end!
