All Star Salon

I called in and made an appt, and ended up being 15 mins late, so I called to let her know (Kim) and she said «I am working on someone right now… It will be another 40 minutes» so I told her okay, so I’ll wait and come in 20 minutes… That way, I can just wait 20 mins instead of 40. I’m a busy person, I don’t have time to wait 40 minutes… There’s a lotta things you could get done in 40 minutes! Anyway…: She said «no you need to come now, because if someone else walk in, I have to do them before you» wtf? So what’s the point of taking appointments when you clearly take walkins even if I have an appointment? Makes no sense that I make an appointment but I still have to wait after someone who doesn’t have an appointment??? ÇAnyways, I understand how it is having a business and being the only stylist working there… So I decided to come anyways…
So I walk in… And she looks at me. She doesn’t say a word. No welcome. No hi. No nothing… Just a blank and rude stare if you ask me. I then told her I had called in earlier… And she said ok. That’s it. Ok. And went back to cutting his hair. She didn’t even ask me to have a seat or give her a few minutes? Anything? I wasn’t happy about that, she couldn’t even smile. So I sat down… Thought about it… Do I really want this grumpy old lady to touch my hair?
What is it with these people these days? Everyone forgot what good customer service is and always got that face on like they hate their job.

I would highly recommend All Star Salon to anyone in the Lawrenceville area looking for a local hair stylist. The location is very convenient & Kim was very friendly & professional. I was able to get a same day appointment, the salon was clean, & Kim took time to listen to what it was I wanted, checking in several times during the haircut to make sure she was moving in the right direction. Service was speedy but thorough & the pricing was extremely reasonable.

No!!! If I had not said something I would have again ended with a dreadful man cut (gotten at a different salon) that took 6 months to grow out. This is seriously the 1^st haircut since that time. And she was putting me right back in that hell. Luckily I did tell her she was going waaaaaaay too short before it was a complete and total disaster. She tried to argue that in the picture it was even shorter than what she was cutting. Nope, definitely not. And I would know because it was an old picture of me from last year with the haircut that I actually liked having and would have liked to have again. So I know positively the length because it’s me! The cut I received today is definitely shorter and thinner than I wanted. In fact, it’s way, way, way too short. But I did barely escape the man cut… but just barely so. (Why do stylists use thinning shears on hair that’s thin? Makes NO sense!!! I think they just get into a mindset of how they should cut the style and grab the tools they always use rather than taking into consideration the texture and volume of a client’s hair). If I had not spoken up and rescued myself this would have been a 1 star review that begged to be a 0 star review. My experience could have been a 2 star review had the stylist’s been more personable even with her mistake. Let’s face it, a warm personality encourages a forgiving heart. I guess I should be grateful on some level that she stopped cutting it so short after I said something. It’s kind of remarkable she didn’t ask me anything before I said something because after her first cut of a huge lock of hair my face just fell into depression. And as the sides and back of my hair was mutilated I started sighing and groaning. But she kept on cutting. Most stylists would stop and ask their client if the cut is going the way they liked but she kept going. I cannot give her the excuse that she was busy because we were the only clients in there. So paing attention to the one and only client in the shop should have been easy. Then when she started to cut the top I could see she was going to leave me with 2– 3 inches of hair on top of my head, I blurted out, «Please, I beg you please don’t cut it too short» I was seriously about to leap out of the chair had she gone any further and that is not hyperbole. I totally would have gotten up and left. I lived through the 6 month hell of the last «man cut» and I refuse to go through that again. Apparently another reviewer for this salon was unhappy with her short hair cut she received from All Star Salon. Plenty of people with longer styles are happy here according to reviews… so maybe short women’s cuts simply isn’t Kim’s forte? So if you are female looking for a short haircut, my advise is to shop elsewhere. I tip for the stylist if she ever reads these, show the client how much you intend to cut off before you make the first cut. You could save yourself from bad reviews and save the customer from living with unwanted haircuts. This is especially true if the client has actually had the haircut before. You looked at the photo for 10 seconds, if that. I lived inside that hairstyle for weeks, styled it daily. I know what I had. This is not it by a long shot!

I’m a guy with very little requirements when it comes to haircuts. Edges are straight. No random patches of hair or hair missing. Cheap price and quick service. This place meets all of those requirements plus Kim is nice and it’s close to my work.

I am very impressed with Kim’s skills and efficiency! Note that I didn’t use a word «fast» because sometimes fast service does not include the quality of work. Kim knows what she is doing and can deliver the service very efficiently.
I got my hair cut and also eyebrows waxed. Somehow the way she waxes did not give me as much pain as I am used to getting from other places.
I will definitely go back to Kim in the future!

Kim is great. My first time here after reading Unilocal reviews and am satisfied. She trimmed my hair, communicates well with what you’re looking for in terms of length and style. The salon is clean and Kim is laidback and nice. I’ll definitely return here with my child as well. I’ll be back for future highlights and trim.

Kim is amazing! I read reviews here and decided to try her for my daughters back to school haircut. My daughter has mixed hair and I was ripped off the last place I went to at Stonecrest Mall. This place was such a reasonable price and she was gentle on my daughters hair. It is the best cut she has ever had! I’m going back to get the whole family done, including me.

I came here because I have not seen not one bad review for this salon. However, when I got there I showed her a picture of the hair cut I wanted her to do. I just permed my natural hair and she said the perm did not take well, which was probably true. Anywho, she continued to cut my hair looking at the picture and she cut it a lot shorter in the back than I wanted and a little longer in the front than I wanted. Then she continued to ask me if I had a small flat iron at home and I said yes, with the intent that I would maintain my hairstyle. When she was done cutting she explained she didn’t have a flat iron small enough to catch the back of my hair that she had just cut off. Great! Thanks –_​_​_​– so she flat ironed the top. Nothing like the picture. In fact it was the complete opposite from the picture. She straightened it instead of curling it, for one. And she barely used any product so I had frizz and fly aways everywhere! 3 customers came in while she was cutting my hair and she pretty much rushed me out of the seat to do their hair. I walked out of this place looking crazy. I left with the same hat I walked in with. I only left with a haircut that I did not want and no style to it at all. Then I call her back when I get home to explain I’m not sure how to style it and that I expected her to do it and she rushes me off the phone to get back to another customer. I understand she may get busy but your customers should never feel rushed. She charged me $ 30 to do a shitty cut and no style. When I was able to play with it a little more I realized my hair cut was uneven. I called Kim back upset to let her know and she hung up the phone on me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! If I can give her 0 stars I would.

I’ve been meaning to write a review on this place since I first visited over a year ago. Miss Kim does an amazing job. I first came to her for a «Dominican Blow Out» though that’s not what I received I was satisfied with my service. She washed my hair thoroughly, gave me a protein treatment, blow dried and flat ironed my hair.
I’ve always been picky about who cuts my hair but after visiting on another occasion and watching her do a dry cut on another woman I was convinced she could do the job. I asked for a 90 degree hair cut, no more than and inch off, and she did exactly that. Since then I’ve been a returning customer.
Miss Kim is the only person in the state of GA that I will allow to cut my hair. She also gave me my first dye and bleach which I fell in love with. I’ve never put color in my hair before and my hair was not damaged as a result giving her even more kudos from me. After a home relaxer gone wrong she even cut my hair down into a cute short style that I wore until I was comfortable trimming the remaining relaxed ends off.
If you call before noon you can usually snag an appointment the same day. Not bad with walking in either. I only ever had to wait once and even then she did a good job of juggling me and the other gentlemen. We were both satisfied and from what I have observed, most of her customers are loyal.

I can’t tell you how happy I am to find this place! It is sooooo affordable and kim gave me the perfect cut! The best part was she listened to what I wanted and did an amazing job. I just brought my sister in here. I am a very picky person and I tend to write reviews only if it’s negative but this place was so good I needed to give it 5 stars!

Stopped here during a visit to Georgia. I was in bad need of a trim and Kim did an amazing job. She was efficient and no nonsense about everything. In and out in under an hour. Definitely affordable too, I wish I could bring her back to California with me!

I went to all star salon yesterday to get a bob haircut. I have ethiopian hair and Kim did a great job for the greatest price!!! The atmosphere with Christian music was a great plus as we’ll. Definitly recommend Kim!!!

I had a wonderful experience at the salon. Kim was great. She touched up my color and did a nice haircut for me. Both were very reasonably priced. This is a hidden gem. If you are looking for beautiful results that won’t break the bank, this is your place!

I just moved backed to Atlanta after being away many years. After reading a few reviews, I decided to try out this salon, and I am glad I did. I got color, cut, deep conditioner and blow out all for $ 55. Kim did a fabulous job with taking up my whole day. I was in and out in two hours and 22 minutes (even with two clients ahead of me). Have I found my new stylist? Definitely!

Great salon! Kim is a high quality stylist that charges very reasonable prices, so it really is the best of both worlds!
I only go here now, no need to keep shopping around :)

Decided to give this place a try after reading the wonderful reviews. Kim didn’t disappointed & did a very good job relaxing (she uses Mizani products) & cutting my hair. I am African American with a short hair cut and usually sit under the hair dryer but Kim was able to blow dry my hair & make it look and feel great. definitely will be making this my permanent salon!

I went to this salon for the first time Friday afternoon on 8÷23÷13. I was looking for a salon close to my house and Unilocaled which place is good and found this place. It’s off of the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Sugarloaf Pkwy. Kim (Asian) is the owner and she was the only one there when I went. I was one of the two customers. She is very friendly and patient. For $ 20 she shampooed my hair, gave me haircut, and blowdried my hair. She took her time. I liked her and I think $ 20 is reasonable and good value for wash, cut, blowdry. The other customer was a male who asked for buzz cut. She did great job on his hair as well; he was happy after the cut.

Kim does the best razor cuts in Georgia,
And she even cuts ethnic hair! I have been going to her for years and I don’t know how she’s kept her prices so low but she has. You get a great style for a great price. She is the best!

When I find a stylist that can cut my hair correctly, I will travel however far to get my hair done. I found Kim, who originally worked at Supercuts and have followed her faithfully to her new salon.
It takes a lot to cut my hair and I am very picky. You would think it would be easy to cut my hair, but most places tend to either make me look like I belong in the Marines or my hair was cut with a weedwacker.
She takes her time and does an awesome job. I have traveled all over Atlanta and been to places recommended on Unilocal but she is truly the best.
