With the closure of almost every fish & tackle store, especially in the Spruce Run & Round Valley Reservoirs area, which is one of the most fished in all of NJ, a bait & tackle store was severely needed. Behre Bait & Tackle recently opened in a former house that was a health food store. Besides the assortment of tackle the store contains, it has what most fishermen need; live bait. Behre’s has herring, various sized shiners, minnows, helgramites, nightcrawlers, crayfish, meal worms and garden worms etc. The owner besides being friendly, is also good with advice for places to go, where the best fishing action has been, and what is being caught in the area. Fishermen going west or east on route 78, can take the Cokesbury exit and turn onto Route 22 East and will quickly see Behre’s before the Shell gas station. It is very close to Round Valley and also to Spruce Run, South Branch of the Raritan river, Ken Lockwood Gorge etc. When going east on Route 22 Behre’s is the driveway before the Shell station, it is in a yellow house building.
