SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza

Inconsistent. Salads are ok. Don’t go at 8 or 8:30 as they act as they are already closed @ the food and service reflects that.

Our first time at this location, after several times downtown. Very similar but also very busy, in a strip mall. Friendly, but overwhelmed service here. We sat outside and had to endure the same woman, coming out and smoking on the patio where we were, repeatedly. At the end of our meal, her skanky friend came and smoked a horrific cigar or something, right near us. We asked her to move, but she didn’t. The smell was so overpowering that I felt sick and we had to move. We complained to our server, who got a manager who said it wasn’t permitted and asked them to leave but for some reason, they were belligerent. Why don’t people have common decency and respect the rules of an establishment? My sister in law is handicapped and ill but these people insisted on being rude and defiant for no reason. Spin really needs signs and enforcement of the rules regarding smoking on and near the patio. No wonder we were the only ones out there! The food is excellent, authentic wood-​fired pizza with fresh ingredients. The salads are equally fresh and nicely executed. The gelato is as good as I have had in Italy. Unfortunately, the clientele here seems to think it is Pizza Hut and the service and management needs work.

I really wanted to like this place as I’m like any normal person and a huge pizza fan. Their menu looked promising, but I’m sad to say that in the end, I was very unimpressed.
I tried the three meat pizza and while I will admit that the flavors of the pizza were good, the price for a large was a little too high for the size of pizza and it was barely enough to share between two people. Just based on that, I doubt that I will go back seeing as the KC area has plenty of delicious pizza offerings.

I have visited Spin Pizza now on two occasions.
The pros: Nice atmosphere. Dimly lit, easy on the eyes and comfortable seating. The gelato (yes, dessert comes to mind first) is fabulous. I have tried the Swiss Chocolate and it’s splendid; almost a dark-​chocolate flavor. Their salads are very well made, too, and fresh. I’ve had the Greek Salad and the BLT Salad. I personally preferred the Greek. The employees are competent and friendly. The menu choices for pizza and salad is unique and different with lots of interesting ingredients and combinations.
The cons: On our second visit, our pizza was burned on one side. The crust was black and the toppings were singed. The waitress was a bit busy and forgot about our lemon wedges we had requested so we had to re-​request from another waitress. We had also ordered some flatbread to go with our starter salads and they forgot about them. I blame the cons on a full restaurant and very busy staff.
I’ll likely be back. The friendly staff made up for the things that can be overlooked and our sun dried and olive tomato pizza was still pretty good, especially on the non-​burned side. It was a great place for me and my wife to spend part of our date night.

Always had good food here. Love their mini mia specials with a small pizza and side salad. Family-​friendly atmosphere, good place to take the kiddos.

I love this pizza! I love the wood fire oven that cooks the Neapolitan style of pizza. The topping combinations are very interesting (I last ordered the proscuitto, fig marmalade and spinach) and tasty. The salads are always fresh with many choices. The wine selection is great and affordable.

Same great food and service as the south Plaza location, looks just the same, too. Someday, I have to break out of my rut and order something besides the margherita pizza, 8-​color salad, and tomato basil soup. But it’s hard… so hard…

Been here a couple of times. I can’t pay for overpriced food anymore. Besides, their pizza was just alright. However, their gelato is pretty amazing. Unfortunately the pizza quality and size to dollar ratio makes this a miss for me.

Mini Mia portions ($ 9 Aprox) and selections rock! This special is good all day (not just for lunch) and my fave is the roasted eggplant dish with spinach salad. The pizza continues to please my husband and it’s a great lunch date here. The gelato is also delicious!
You order and pay at cashier, take your number to a table of your choice and they bring your food and drink to you, so almost full service here.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I will forever love SPIN. I’ve been to two different locations multiple times and every visit has been awesome. I love the vibe of each place as well as the employees who are always welcoming and fun.
The menus here are also almost second to none in my humble pizza-​loving opinion. I love all of the artisan toppings and the fact that you can get whole wheat (definitely worth the small up charge!) and gluten free if you diet requires it.
I recommend the Patate pie lunch special with the 8 color salad, it’s just enough to fill you up without feeling TOO stuffed to move out the door. The simple dressing on the 8 color salad is to die for, light and crisp and exactly the way I like my salad dressing.
I haven’t tried the gelato here yet, although I’ll be sure to do so on my next visit — which will hopefully be very soon!

I had never tried Spin before so was not sure what to expect. But I was in for a treat. I had the Sonoma Salad and Three Meat mini pizza. The salad was wonderful, with goat cheese, and fruit that blended with the blood orange dressing perfectly. I find fruit in salads to be weird at times but this was heavenly. The Three Meat pizza was very good. One of the meats was spicy, but not too hot for me. I especially liked their savory crust which added to the flavor. Since it was my birthday, I got a token for a free cup of gelato. I sampled several flavors before settling on Mackinac Island Fudge. Also very good.
The service was quick and helpful, especially at the front counter. Some places talk down to new customers but this guy was friendly and very patient as my girlfriend and I had never eaten at Spin before.

Just went here a few weeks ago for the first time. Service was great, restaurant is clean, and food was good! You order at the counter and they give you a number, then you have a seat at a table of your choice and they bring your food out to you.

The salads are what make this place stand out. I can’t stand raw tomatoes but theirs I actually find tasty because they are roasted which is a nice touch.
Pizza is usually pretty good although they could add a little more cheese and sauce on those pizzas that have it.
I always enjoy the food here and knowing I can get gelato in all flavors if I want adds to the satisfaction I get when I leave here.
I only knock off a star for the atmosphere. Spin seems to attract mostly stuffy well-​off types for some reason and that kind of takes away from the casual vibe.

I want to like this place. I’ve given them several chances. I usually get bad service or a burnt pizza. If I could ever get good service and the pizza cooked right it would be a great place. Pizza is tasty when done right

Pizza so good I could blend it up and put it in my IV. Also really nice ceiling décor when you walk in. I totally wouldn’t mind living in here. The waiter here is really tall and super attractive. A lot of college white girls with fake tan come here tho, so watch out. They might throw a Starbucks caramel macchiato at you.

I am a frequent diner at Spin Pizza, dine in and carry out. I have noticed over the past year that they have been stingy with their ingredients. When I order a salad to go I am almost always disappointed at how little lettuce I see when i get home and open the box. I ate lunch at Spin today and ordered the 8 color salad. When it came out, there were hardly any toppings. I called the waiter over to show him and asked if I could have some extra Bleu cheese and pine nuts. He returned with a container with six pine nuts in it. SIX pine nuts! I am disappointed in this restaurant and intend to find a new place for my girlfriends and I to have our lunches.
–I was contacted the day I wrote the original review. I appreciate good customer service and was pleased that they apologized and said that they would talk to their staff.

I am giving this SPIN location a 4 but really feel it deserves a 3.5 for food quality. I’ve eaten at several SPIN locations in the metro and this is my least favorite location. I typically order the mini Mia — a great deal — which includes a small personal pizza and side salad. I typically get the margarita pizza (whole wheat crust) or Bbq chicken pizza and 8 color salad or arugula salad. The food at this location is never as good as the Lenexa SPIN… but…the restaurant is basically identical, reasonably clean and staffed with friendly folks. I ordered lunch two days ago and ended up waiting 25 min (not the quoted 15). I brought a friend a mini Mia as well and ordered theirs with a gluten free crust which they enjoyed.

Came in a little unorganized seeing as how none of my group had been there more than once. The pizza was delicious. Better than the first time I had been there for sure! I was a little disappointed with the menu though. Our waiter was polite and helpful. But the lady who originally took our order at the front, RUDE! There’s a word we use for people like her. But seriously, don’t be rude to customers who don’t frequent your establishment!

I like the thin crust wood fired pizza. Lots of options, fresh ingredients, excellent options for beer and wine. Food and service… excellent.
Why not 5 stars… it can get pretty loud when it is busy, not great acoustics.

Different set up, you go in and order pizza and drink then go find a seat. I ordered the #10 which was 12″ with spinach, mushrooms, red peppers, and goat cheese. Also got a large draft. This come up to about $ 21. Pizza was some where in the middle of thin crust and your normal fluffy hand tossed. Topping very fresh and the pizza as a whole was very good. They have wheat for .25 more and gluten free for $ 3 more.

I’m here to proclaim the proper 4-​star rating Unilocalers have given this location to be spot on. I’ve been hearing about SPIN for awhile but this my first experience. Was headed somewhere I go only very occasionally, needed to grab something relatively quick minus the fuss, and SPIN turned out to be a good option.
Beautiful interior design, open space, comfortable and relaxed. You can see everything going on which is not always a plus in a restaurant but didn’t detract on this visit.
Margherita pizza, 12 inch. Simple. Glass of water. I see you put some seasonings and just enough salt into the crust that it’s worth eating the «bones» that are left over. Red sauce was fragrant with hints of garlic and olive oil and plenty of tomato chunks but nothing overpowering. Basil was fresh and had enough taste to make a true basil gardener like myself smile. I noted the selections of bottled wines when I walked in the door. Wasn’t to be by myself and that’s a plus. A nice Free State Beer on tap had this Lawrence guy smiling in Lee’s Summit. Plenty of good drink options.

Not somewhere I’ll likely return but only because I eat in this part of town only once or twice a year but if I was closer I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

My husband and I came here on a Saturday during Restaurant Week. The pizza my husband and I got was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was amazing! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because we sat at the bar because of the good view of the tvs and for the 1^st hour we were there we never had a set person taking care of us! It was really who ever we could grab at the time which a few of them looked confused when we would ask for something from them. FINALLY A bartender came on shift and it was much better and he was much more attentive! It didn’t seem like there was much order for the staff and where they should be or who they should be taking care of.

We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday and didn’t have to wait in line at all; which was nice. However, the girl at the cash register did make us feel rushed as she kept deep breathing and look over my should to see who else was coming in. We placed our order and a runner was right behind us with our drinks, she was closely followed by another runner bringing our salads.
My son ordered the Mini Mia cheese pizza which he quickly devoured; I had the whole wheat Mini Mia which was pretty good as well. We also ordered the flatbread trio which was amazing!
I had the mango gelato and it was delicious ! My son had the chocolate chip and liked it so much he wouldn’t let me sample!
Our waiter was very very busy, but did a good job considering.
My son said this is the perfect place for us to have dinner.
We will be back…

I was a first timer here and I am a fan! The environment was very relaxed and smells amazing. Walking in, you order what you want and find a place to sit. The seating is rather odd, you may have to breakaway some tables from each other or it could be awkward.
I split the Tre Carni Pizza and wooooooooo it was good. The meat was perfect and the cheese was falling everywhere. It’s also the perfect size for couples so no need for ordering like a personal pan pizza. Afterwards, I enjoyed their infamous gelato. I am such a fan of gelato and theirs was delicious! I couldn’t get enough of it and I am disappointed I decided to split that also.
The downer for me was the service. I had like 4 different people come to my table but no one refilled my drink and I had to practically call servers over to get service. I was a little disappointed. Plus I had no idea who to tip since I saw so many people. It could have been an off day but it made me upset. Other than that it’s delicious! I will have to go again and just hope for better servers!
