Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich made with exclusive herbs and spices in chicken, turkey or ham. Made fresh to order on a toasted hoagie roll in two sizes of white/​wheat. Choose from your favorite combination of fresh grilled onion, mushrooms, or peppers with or without cheese. All Philly sandwich combinations are also available in tossed salads, rice bowls or wraps. Vegetarian Philly come with your choice of cheese, sliced banana peppers, tomatoes, olives, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Caboose Gourmet Burgers, in ¼lb, 1⁄3 lb or ½lb sizes locally raised are antibiotic and hormone free. Tuxedo and sweet potato fries, or onion rings available with our daily combo special that includes a 20 oz unlimited refill Coke product, fresh squeezed lemonade or ice tea. Wide selection of kid’s meals featuring a ½ Philly along with chicken tenders, cheese burgers, hot dogs grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. Come by and see our model train as it circles the dining room.

Established in 2012.

Since 1981, the family owned and operated Chartroose Caboose has come to Lee’s Summit to continue to serve KC’s most authentic Philly. Jointly owned and operated by Lee’s Summit residents Troy LaPorte and John Griffith.

It’s too bad management has such a lack of respect for customers. An on-​line order placed nearly 1.25 hours ahead of desired delivery time resulted in not only no delivery, but not even a phone call to let me know they were not able to fulfill the order due to being «short staffed». I called at the a bit after the delivery time to see where they were with the order. Mind you it was only an order for 6 people. To my utter disappointment, I told «yea, you should not have been able to order on-​line (although I had gotten a confirmation). I then asked if I could just pick up the order and was told it would be 45 minutes for that; finally I asked why I wasn’t at least called about my order delay and was rudely told by the MANAGER «I don’t know what to tell you!» I hope the owner takes heed, and deals with his apparent staffing issues beginning with management! We are not placing order here any longer as a result which is too bad because they have great food.

If you like grease… this place is definitely for you! This is typically the type of food I like as well, but this just didn’t do it for me. Our orders arrived without any of the garnishments they should have had so it was just bread, meat and cheese. They were completely void of flavor. Not very good, but overall an average place to eat.

This location just seems off from the others but it’s still good food. Location is not the best but will do if your craving a good philly. It is overpriced and not healthy for you for the most part but I will still go when the craving arrives. if you go you have to get the chees on the side for the fries.

Ordered delivery online. I was excited because their website was easy to use and we got our order placed in no time. The website (and subsequent email) said that delivery would be in 40 – 60 minutes. No problem. At 30 minutes, we kenneled the dogs so that they wouldn’t escape the front door, and at 40 minutes the phone rings. I was thinking they would say they couldn’t find us, but they told us they didn’t have a delivery driver. AFTER 40 minutes. Couldn’t they have called me earlier to let me know? They gave us the option of going in or cancelling. After a 40 minute wait, we didn’t want to have to order somewhere else and have to wait again. Ultimately, we picked up the food and it was ok but customer service was horrible. They didn’t apologize or offer up anything for the trouble.

A friend had mentioned this place, so thought i would check it out. As I entered I noticed a clean, but somehow unorganized appearance. Was greeted quickly and sincerely. Menu has lots of options besides Philly steak sandwiches, but I went with their specialty The Bun was fresh and loaded with meat and cheese Good flavor. They have sauces you can add, but there was no need. You can add your own choices of peppers, onion etc. I ordered onion rings to go with the sandwich. 5 onion rings? Really just 5. Good flavor but a bit too greasy. However only 5? C’mon man. I didn’t notice anyone near me ordering fries, that made me curious as to their quality, but I personally cannot knock the score down. They had a condiment area that was kind of messy, should be away from the same area as drinks. You know how messy people can be. A bit pricey for a sandwich, rings and a drink., total came to $ 12.50. Good selection on their kids menu as well, PB&J, grilled cheese and more. The train was NOT running. And as the character Sheldon Cooper says, «who doesn’t love trains?» So that was a disappointment.
Bathroom was not dirty, but looks well used, like it has been there for 30 years. How about some new fixtures and remodeling?
Pepperjax is better, plus for a lower price two people can share their abundant French fries.
Overall not bad. Would go again if someone I was with wanted.

The last time I was there, leaking ceiling in the dining area. None of the employees noticed this, I had to tell them rain was pouring in. By the looks of the floor because it is truly filthy, seems like never a employee leaves the back work area. Someone needs to sweep and mop. I am rethinking the Philly I love here. If the front area is this disgusting, what pray tell is happing in the back area with the food???

This place was disgusting! Had to use a different cheeseburger bun than the one served because that one was dripping with grease and fell apart. If you want grease, cheese and toppings that have all ran off the burger, and flavorless food, this is your place.
I was the second customer of the day and the place is in one word: filthy!!! Tables were dirty from the previous day, floor needs a real cleaning, condiment station also filthy!

The food was «eh», the price for the food was my right arm (I’m right handed) and my big toe. There were few other customers, but even so, the cashier was the cook and the cook was the cashier, until another guy lazily sauntered his way to the counter.
The chicken was dry and they were skimpy on the meat on an already underwhelming sandwich. The seasoning for the meat was yummy, though. The only redeeming quality I can suggest is their Barq’s Red Crème Soda, a rare treat as it is caffeine free.
If you just need a quick fix and the price doesn’t matter, this place will do the trick, but if you want to enjoy a meal with your family, take your caboose elsewhere. I recommend Pepperjax just a minute from there.

I go here when I don’t go to Steak ‘Em, Take ‘Em. I called in my order which was hassle free and the guy taking my order asked all the pertinent questions to ensure it was just right. I always try Front Flip in any establishment that has it, but this time it wouldn’t scan… I’m sure I missed some amazing deal… like a free philly or something. I ordered the super chief, the zepher and an order of sweet potato fries. It was fresh and ready to go when I arrived.

To be honest my expectations where pretty low when I walked in. I had another place in mind but Lee’s Summit restaurants are always packed full or people 24⁄7. The Caboose looked pretty accessible and I just need substance. They had more options than I expected so I ordered a burger with sweet potato fries! Wow. Got a philly to go and enjoyed it later that day. Good stuff and a great alternative to the chaos that shopping area.

Cheesesteak is sub-​par, service is lacking, and the condiments bar was filthy, the vegetables looked like they had been there on the counter for a week, lettuce was brown, and the tables were sticky. If you truly want the best cheesesteak this side of Philly, go to Grinders West.

Inside is built like a chipotle except the main interior color is lime green. They phillys were great, and my mother who got the burger said it was, and I quote, «AMAZING.» It looked at if the burger came on a pretzel bun.
The overhead menu isn’t descriptive, I suggest you to go online or read the paper menu before walking in. The place was clean but they seem a bit unorganized in certain areas. Besides all that, the food was good and the cashier was nice, so that gives me a reason to go back!

Great atmosphere for kids. My son loves the train traveling around the track, near the ceiling.
He also enjoyed playing w/​the large free standing train, while we ordered.
The food, on the other hand is VERY salty. I find this to be a problem at most restaurants. The philly while generous on the portions of meat lacked depth of flavor and all that really came through was salt. Sweet potato fries would have been better without the addition of cinnamon. They tasted more like donuts than sweet potato fries.
All in all, nice location, fun décor, but food needs a shot of flavor w/​less salt.
