I think if you serve espresso from an espresso machine then you should know what a real macchiato. Decided to skip that even though she offered to «figure it out». I did decide to try the honey lavender latte which sounded fun. It isn’t great and not a very strong lavender or honey flavor. I won’t be back.

Love it here! They have pour-over, which I love. It’s a great place to come do work, with free wi-fi and friendly service. They play good music, too.

I absolutely understand this quaint coffee shop’s popularity! They offer some awesome coffee flavors, the food looks scrumptious and its a comfy place to hang. Lots of friendly staff and locals here. The Fireside latte was delicious: raspberry and butterscotch(I think) made for an unusual latte indulgence. I plan to come back again soon.

Was looking for a nice snack while exploring old downtown Lee’s Summit when we came across your shop. We received good coffee and a snack. We will definitely be back.

I love the Roasted Chicken panini with the blackberry mayo. This place is cute, with a great atmosphere. I always have to get the basic caramel latte, but it is always so delicious too. This place is a must try for lunch or breakfast in Downtown Lee’s Summit.

We’ve been whistle stop regulars for several years and frequent this downtown LS gem. They offer an awesome breakfast and lunch menu with fresh salads, sandwiches and a kids menu. The coffee is flavorful and they have an awesome chai latte. The chocolate monkey protein smoothie is another favorite. The décor is cute and perfect for studying or working. There is even an outdoor patio for sunny days. The only reason we give it a 4⁄5 vs a 5⁄5 is sometimes the baristas are not consistent with the drink preparation. Despite this, we love the whistle stop and will return!

My friends and I stopped here for lunch after shopping in downtown. The first thing that struck me was the poor layout of the counter. It felt cramped on both sides. Since it was my first time here, I needed some time with the menu which was difficult since you can’t see it until you are directly in front of the order taker. I ordered a mocha frappé which was fine. For lunch I ordered a roasted chicken sandwich. It was edible. The bread was extremely hard, I know panini bread is supposed to be toasted but this was beyond that. It had just two slices of lunch meat style chicken(nothing roasted about it) one piece of nondescript bacon, a slice of cheese(I substituted provolone for the Swiss). I ordered my blueberry mayo on the side. It was the best part of the meal. I don’t care for kettle chips normally and these did nothing to change my mind. They had no other options for sides. For the price($ 7.99) I felt that this was very sub par. I won’t be back.

Independent Coffee Shop. I’ve yet to have any of the food on the breakfast and lunch menus although it all sounds good. I have been in a few dozen times for lattes and they have with very few exceptions been great. I have no doubt the couple times they weren’t that great I could’ve gone back and they would’ve remade the drink for me I have to be pretty unhappy to bother. I love the location right across form the Amtrak station, mixed in with all the shops. The first time I went in a few years ago they were playing contemporary christian music on the radio. It happened to be the same station I listen to — KLOVE so I was pretty happy. The next year or so was the same but eventually the music switched. The coffee and the help were the same so the music switch sure wasn’t going to make me stop dropping in for a caffeine filled latte. I suppose I should add I’ve purchased loose leaf tea from there that my coworkers and I enjoyed. If you find yourself downtown Lee’s Summit and need some caffeine you should stop in. It’s a great place to grab a coffee and sit and relax. Watch your step when you go through the front door.

The food is great and I love the variety in drink options. The staff is very kind, personable, and patient. It’s hard to not feel at home when you’re in there. However the coffee itself is of poor quality and the steam wand on the espresso machine is dirty every time I go in. Meaning there’s bacteria from past milk going into every drink. I would recommend checking this place out but would avoid any of their coffee or espresso beverages until there are changes made. This a very important place in Downtown LS and a great atmosphere.

Quality menu items, greats service, and good atmosphere for a chat over coffee. I ordered a bagel, so I didn’t really get a good feel of their food, but I’ll definitely be back for me.

Suburbia has taste for the mundane. The latte could have been a «add hot water and stir» mix. The taste was dull and body was thin and disappointing. I was extremely dissatisfied with vanilla latte, won’t be stopping here again. At least I wasn’t burdened with any fragrant aroma or sweet aftertaste to distract me from my drive into work that cold rainy morning.

We eat here at least twice a week. The soups are delicious. I like to get the roasted chicken sandwich, my wife loves the chicken salad sandwich, and the Cuban is also delicious. They start making my coffee when they see me walking in. Friendly, and clean. No complaints whatsoever.

I feel like I’ve been on a good string of luck lately with trying out new coffee shops, and Whistle Stop can be added to the list. However, it’s not the coffee that particularly impressed me, it was the food! This place might have the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had, coffee shop or restaurant or anything. For only $ 4.99, I had the Saucy CJ: roasted chicken, bacon, egg, swiss cheese and red pepper spread. The best part? It’s served on a ridiculously good tomato-herb foccacia. This sandwich is so delicious it makes me want to weep tears of joy, and the price point is hard to argue with. Now, the coffee isn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t fantastic. Maybe I’m just spoiled, as almost every day I’m drinking either Oddly Correct or Parisi beans. Still, it was a nice, foamy latte and it made me happy. I’m not huge on the décor of the place. It’s the type of place that has decorative signs about prayer and so forth, which isn’t my style. BUT it’s a good place to work, and I’d be willing to pray to whatever god created the Saucy CJ breakfast sandwich. 4 stars!

This was a great little find in downtown Lee’s Summit. And the perfect place for a break between meetings. The staff were exceptionally nice. There was free wifi. The coffee drinks and food I had were all great. Great space and atmosphere. A very comfy and welcoming place. The only downside was the few non-coffee options. I’m not much of a coffee person and tend to prefer teas and smoothies at coffee shops, but I couldn’t really do that here.

After visiting this coffee shop on multiple occasions, Whistle Stop seems to be a hit or miss type of shop. My last review was a good experience. The past couple times — not so much. I ordered the Caramel Apple latte again because I loved it so much the first time, but there were many issues this time: — She steamed my milk with a milk/chai encrusted steam wand. I don’t want dried, spoiled milk in my drink! — I couldn’t taste the caramel apple flavor at all. — There were coffee/espresso grounds at the bottom of my cup. I’ve never witnessed such a bad pulled shot that the grounds are in the drink. Some times Whistle Stop is delicious, some times not so much.
