The Basics Gracie Jiu-Jitsu

I trained here for exactly 1 year and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for practical, real-​world self defense classes. Marco Moreno the head instructor is directly under Relson, Ryron and Rener Gracie. Water is purest near the source. If you are looking for fitness in addition to self defense I would recommend attending the fight simulation and advanced classes. 95% of the people are friendly and ego free which is far above and beyond your typical Jiu-​Jitsu school. I would 100% recommend for children and the women’s self defense classes are top notch.

I appreciate the down to earth and friendly feel of The Basics Gracie Jiu-​Jitsu school. I took my 6 year-​old son in and we both tried a couple of complimentary classes. The classes are set up so that you can go any night and not feel out of place. We also really enjoyed the no-​pressure environment that the owner Marco has cultivated. He is a super-​nice guy, but everyone seems to be really nice there: teacher, students, and the kids’ parents alike. We enjoyed our first visits so much, we signed up and have been going regularly since then. This isn’t one of your run-​of-​the-​mill martial arts studios. It is small, new, and welcoming. Kids, women, and men of all ages are welcome. Best times to drop in are for the beginner classes weeknights from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. or Saturday mornings at 11:30 a.m. I dare you to come by and not have a great time!
