If you or a family member has a neurological problem such as multiple sclerosis (MS), a sleep disorder, stroke, headache, Parkinson’s disease, or dementia, I hope you will consider Rowe Neurology Institute as a place you can come for help.

I founded the practice hoping to give patients the type of care I would want myself — comprehensive care that looks at the whole person and not just the disease. As a physician, I see myself as a partner with the patients who come to me. I listen to them and I learn from them. I hear their problems, their frustrations and their fears. Together, we arrive at the most accurate diagnosis possible, and together, we plan the most effective treatment.

I’ve tried to create the perfect neuroscience institute — staffed by top-notch neurological sub-specialists who not only treat patients but also conduct cutting-edge research. We understand you need answers quickly, so we make every attempt to schedule your appointment with 48 hours of your phone call.

We practice coordinated neurological care for all of our patients. Most patients aren’t used to that, and they can even be skeptical — it’s a reasonable fear, since hospital systems have perfected trapping patients in self-referral networks. For example, we operate our own MRI because too many of our patients were wasting time and money on incorrect MRI studies elsewhere. And our physical therapists are the only p.t. team in Kansas City who are dedicated full-time to neurology patients. Their highly specialized knowledge of postural migraine triggers can sometimes bring nearly-instant relief to patients who have suffered from migraines for many years. And our sleep doctors and technicians are among the first in the world to connect sleep disorders with seemingly unrelated neurological problems like migraine.

These days, with hospitals buying up doctor practices and con

Before founding the institute in 1982, Dr. Vernon D. Rowe earned his BS and MD degrees at Duke University. He served his internship at Harborview Hospital in Seattle and obtained his neurology residency training at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

Rowe then served as a research associate at the National Institutes of Health in developmental neurobiology. Rowe next joined the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical School in the Department of Neurology as an associate professor. At KU he taught and mentored medical students and residents, and carried out basic research on neuron-target interactions, funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Veterans Administration, and the March of Dimes Foundation. The author of numerous research publications, Rowe is currently an adjunct professor of neurology at the University of Kansas Medical School.
