I also used these movers about 2 years ago and thought they were friendly until they started unloading the truck and were complaining about having to move me into a second floor apartment and started unloading boxes into the hall and wouldn’t even carry them into my apartment! After they left I was just glad to have finally hired movers and went about unpacking only to discover that they dented or scratched every single one of my wood pieces of furniture and almost broke off two of my chair legs that I ended up having to fix! I just felt like they could care less about my belongings and wanted to quickly get the job done. I hope my next moving experience will be better.

DONOTUSETHESEMOVERS! This review will be very honest about my recent experience, and I will do my best to not make this into Unilocal first novel. These movers moved us a year ago– did a fine job, friendly, no problems, no major issues, no harm. So last month we decided to use them again– did a fine job, no problems, no harm. We asked him last month(at the end of the last move) if he would move us the one last time into our new home and Chuck(the owner) said he would, and even give us a frequent movers discount of $ 75/hr. We chuckled but thought, hey! Sweet deal! He came over the night before our move and took a look around the house. I thought this was weird since he was just here a month ago– not much has changed. Move began on Friday morning at 8am. There was 3 guys: Chuck, Randy and one other who’s name I can’t remember). The move was paused at about 6 or 7pm(I cant remember which) that evening, and they STILL were not done and needed to come back in the morning. We only moved 1.5 miles away so it’s not like the distance was an issue in the time. And, we did a lot of furniture, but enough for our new large home and went from 1500 sq ft to 2600 sq ft so it’s not like we’re talking a 10,000 sq ft home here. During this time my husband brought them lunch and soda. Also during this time Chuck was asking us how much we payed for our new home(which seemed inappropriate to me) and tried guessing the value. He also made me feel guilty every time I told him a piece of furniture was to go upstairs. He kept on saying«You’re killing us/me…». I kept on thinking that’s what I’m paying them for! So after they told us they needed to resume the next day for the rest of our stuff, they asked for us to pay them– the normal rate of $ 88/hr because they needed to bring in another guy for the job. When I questioned him about the frequent mover’s discount he told my husband and I when we were in the same room he replied«I don’t know what you think you heard, lady!» and proceeded to be disrespectful and rude. The second day took 3 hours and my husband had to help with the heavy lifting. But, we didn’t have to pay for that day, which was nice… but I wouldn’t have anyway. After the horror of this move I found furniture that had been chipped, china broken, stone platters shattered and moving boxes clearly marked as «FRAGILE» smashed. I called Chuck to get his insurance information so that I could file a claim to reimbursement for irreplaceable items. Guess what? He wouldn’t give it to me! Instead he argued with me on the phone(calling me «lady» when he KNOWS my name) and refused to give me the information. I’m questioning if he even has insurance! He did say I could send him a list of the damages to his PO Box and he’ll get in contact with his insurance guy for me. Hummm… doesn’t sound right to me. All in all this conversation was not pleasant. He was rude to me, disrespectful and raised his voice to me on the phone. Not professional at all. I have contacted my lawyer to see what the RIGHT legal way of handling this would be. So, in response to their claims on their website: «Professional»: NOPE «Licensed, Bonded and Insured»: DOUBTIT «High Quality Moving»: HELLNO(see pictures as proof) If we would have hired another company with slightly higher prices, they probably would have showed up with a larger truck, more manpower, knowledge on how to move fragile items, and been done in half the time EASY and saved us hundreds of dollars and(more importantly) headaches. So, if you’re looking to move in the greater Kansas City area, please, go elsewhere for your moving needs. UPDATE:(July 2012) I contacted my attorney and this company was sent a letter requesting to pay for damages. A few weeks later, my attorney received a check for the exact amount. I’m happy to say I’m finally done with this company!

Stop the presses! I’ve moved *yet again.* While that’s not earth shattering news, the fact that the move went well, quickly(in 3 hours!) cost under 500 dollars for a 3.5 bedroom house’s(+ several enormous closets and a basement) worth of stuff is pretty damn amazing and it’s all thanks to Whistle Movers & Delivery. Those of you who know me at least since July know that my last move was a horrific and expensive experience(cost about three times what this recent move cost). So, we were bracing ourselves for the worst, despite the fact that Whistle Movers & Delivery came highly recommended by a close friend. We thought that when it came to move, we were just doomed. I mean, after all, I’ve moved 4 times in less than 2 years and the K has moved 7 times in 3 years. So, we’re veterans and we’re jaded and, well, we just wanted to get this whole ordeal over with. Chuck is the main guy and he brought three others with him. That’s the ticket to getting out of the old and into the new all quick and easy. For our last move in June, Starving Artists gave us 2 guys and a truck that was far too small, despite going over every room in detail when making the appointment. Whistle Movers not only brought a large enough truck, they brought a van for back-up. We’re talking pros here. All were courteous and professional. Chuck is super friendly and makes a stressful experience much less so. For three hours, and four movers, we were handed a shockingly low bill of 315 dollars!(Of course make sure you tip generously). And so, I had to write this review as soon as possible, in case anyone out there is looking for mover, soon. Top notch service. Now, to unpack.
