Central Seafood

Apparently I was one of very few that enjoyed this place because they are now out of business. Oh well… i will miss them.

Yes, you would think having a seafood shop in Leominster would be a big Yay! but sadly, the fish is not fresh. I have purchased items on several occasions from Central Seafood. Scallops, sea bass, shrimp, stuffed clams and stuffed lobster.
The shrimp and sea bass were not fresh! Sea bass does NOT smell fishy, ever! as long as it’s fresh. I should have asked to smell it before she wrapped it (my mistake). The scallops went to the trash with the sea bass. I ate a few of the shrimp and threw the rest out. The stuffed clams didn’t smell fishy so I ate one and it wasn’t bad. The stuffed lobster was ‘ok’ at best – at least it wasn’t a fish bomb.
When I tried to call Central Seafood to ask how old the sea bass was, I found that BOTH phone numbers are OUT OF SERVICE. Both numbers were printed on freshly minted business cards that were strewn on the counter. I also checked the website to make sure I had the correct numbers. Not a good sign, in my opinion!
My recommendation is to pass by Central Seafood and keep driving a mile up the road to Central Meats (no relation afaik). Grab a fresh cut filet mignon or a porterhouse!
