History

Established in 1976.

A church was formed through a few families who felt the need for the area to be evangelized. The families first met in a home in the basement. The church grew and after spending some time in different places, such as a Holiday Inn and other churches, purchased some property in Port Monmouth, NJ. The church was sold to the county through eminent domain, and purchased an empty warehouse on Rte 36 in Leonardo. After many years of church in a sometimes rented facility in Atlantic Highlands, the warehouse renovations were complete and now a beautiful sanctuary is in place for worship and fellowship.

Rev. Dr. Richard Shaw S.

Business Owner

Rev. Dr. Richard Shaw has been the pastor of Calvary Chapel of Monmouth County, since its conception. He has a doctorate in philosophy and religion. He has been a pastor for almost 60 years, and has taught in many places, including Brazil and Canada. He and his family live in Atlantic Highlands since the 1960’s.
