I have been here twice now for coffee and I love it! Definitely convenient for me… walking distance from the district court where I have to drop off paperwork weekly. A very pleasant detour and solid cup of coffee.
Atmosphere: Hipster joint for realsies… super friendly, many a septum ring, bushy beards, hand-​made, floral print skirt and meaningful wrist tattoo. Super comfy and great spot to tuck away and read or get a little work done.
Service: Quick and friendly service with a smile. Have only been twice (so far) but consistently great service.
Food: Great coffee! I had a blueberry muffin today and it was delicious!!!
Great little store that I am more than happy to start a consistent indulgence. Can’t wait to venture out and try more baked goods!

Update: Management has changed and they have gotten much faster and more accurate. Additionally they have daily sandwiches that are made already so you can just grab and go. The whole place has been evolving in a great way. The staff is now friendly and quick and the food is still delicious.

Best breakfast sandwich we have ever had. Wish we lived closer! Great and friendly staff, unique menu options, «to die for» wood-​fired bagels made under the market, tasty bakery items, kick-​ass ice coffee, inspiring art pieces (with a story behind them) on the walls… not much else to say other than this place was simply amazing!

Wow. These bagels are flavor central. My Greek girlfriend LOVES the kalamata cream Cheese spread. The wait is a bit long on Sunday’s, but totally worth it.

After going to Forage a number of times with the boyfriend, we’ve both come to the conclusion that it’s the best place in town for a cozy breakfast on a Saturday morning. Most weekends we’ll look at each other and say, «Forage?» and off we go!
I love the special lattes that they have (my favorite to date being the caramel apple), and Jared typically just gets the dark roast. The pastries are super delicious, and the bagels are phenomenal. Be prepared to spend a bit of cash if you’re in to building your own bagel sandwich… worth it, but pricey. I personally love getting an everything bagel with egg, cheese, bacon, and caper dill aioli. Mmm-​mm-​mmm! Everything is made-​to-​order fresh, and the staff members are the sweetest people I’ve met in the Lewiston food scene. Keep it up, everyone!

Awesome bagel sandwiches– way, way above average. And my girls enjoyed the saffron sugar dusting their chai– made locally with real saffron. Why this restaurant doesn’t show up on Unilocal under ‘breakfast’ is beyond me. It’s the best breakfast around.

This place is a hidden gem on Lisbon Street. I go in there specifically for the bagels because theirs are everything a bagel should be: crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I always get mine with cream cheese, tomatoes, cukes and local greens. My daughter gets the BLT which is served on fresh bread with an aioli and avocado. It is absolutely fabulous!
They offer several other items such as soup, sandwiches, coffee, local products/​produce, a selection of meats and cheeses and pastry items. The staff is friendly, helpful and the atmosphere is very inviting with local art of the walls and a sunny seating area.

I stopped in this morning for my usual bagel and noticed a new cream cheese flavor; jalapeño. I was reluctant to try it, fearing it might be too hot. I like spicy food. But not to the point that your forehead breaks out in sweat. So I was reluctant to try it for breakfast. I mentioned that to the person taking my order. She asked if I want to try it on just half the bagel. So I said sure. What a surprise. Not too spicy and very flavorful. Another hit from the Forage Market. Thanks.

What a delight to find this incredibly charming place when we were searching for some late lunch the other day in tiny Lewiston, Maine. They have gourmet charcuterie and provisions, remarkable sandwiches (so far just on M, W, F and? Sat, I think), an artisan bakery, delicious homemade soups, quirky endearing décor AND YET, quite reasonable prices! Wish there were a place just like this where we live close to Boston… :)

Very unique find in Lewiston! Everywhere I go I try to find the mom n pop places as I have grown up working in small family owned and operated businesses. So I really liked the atmosphere and offering all local beers, wines, produce and breads.
Came here on a Tuesday when their sandwich options were Italian and Vegan! My boyfriend and I both tried the Italian. Very hearty sandwich with a wonderful ciabatta roll! The sandwich was very decently sized for the price. It was a little dry however, so a little more dressing or something would be preferred.
Although I understand having limited options for lunch from the restaurant’s perspective, but I didn’t like how you were limited two sandwiches. I understand there were other items on the menu but not sandwich wise.
Didn’t try any baked goods but they sure looked appealing!
If I lived in the area, I would definitely come here to find those specialty items that they offer!
Parking seems to be an issue. Forage is located on a one-​way street so being an out-​of-​towner such as myself I found it difficult to find parking especially during road construction season!

The numbered sandwiches are to die for. There’s not a lot going on in Lewiston, but this place is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Super tasty, reasonably priced, and an easy meal.

Forage Market has the best bagels in the state. I enjoyed a salt bagel with honey lavender cream cheese, it was the perfect marriage of sweet and salty with a gentle floral undertone.

Cute mom ‘n pop café with baked goods delivered fresh daily and a great selection of teas. Pretty busy (with about 60% of the tables full) on a weekday at around 11am.
I was lucky enough to find street parking right next to the café itself. Bought a big fluffy blueberry muffin for $ 2 and a cup of steaming hot tea. Service was excellent and the girl behind the counter was super warm and welcoming.
The muffin itself was big and soft. It had those crunchy muffin tops with sprinkled sugar that just makes everything better. They also didn’t go light on the blueberries. If I ever did stop by in Lewiston again, I’ll certainly stop by to try their other baked goods. Maybe the amazing looking chocolate croissants or the other flavors of fluffy muffins.

I loved this place! All of their breads and bagels are brick oven, and they also have sandwiches, soups and some prepare stuff if you are on the go. Not to mention the craft beer and wine section! I’ll be visiting regularly now that I have moved up the street!

I frequent this place quite often, and truly enjoy the food and coffee – it’s unique, rustic, and delicious. It’s a bit pricier for the area, but remember that the ingredients are local, fresh and of better quality. Like another reviewer said, the prepared sandwiches can be soggy from sitting for some time. I experienced this with one of the pork sandwiches with red kraut/​slaw. The wood-​fired bagels are how bagels should taste, and is reminiscent of the bagels I enjoyed in my college days. There is a great selection of cheeses and beverages, and the coffees are usually spot on. So what is keeping me from making this a 4 or 5 star review? The service. Nearly every time I order, there is a mistake – and I’m certain it is not on my end. Last time, my second breakfast sandwich was missing. By the time it was handed off, and I realized it, the man was gone and the line was long. The girl at the register was overwhelmed, and I didn’t have time to wait in line, plus another 10 minutes for a second sandwich, only for the first one to get cold. In addition, I find the staff, on most days, less than helpful with recommendations on the food selections. I had a friend from out-​of-​town who had questions regarding the soups, as she had dietary restrictions, and was left to feel more of a bother after her questions were unable to be answered by a flustered employee. She settled for beverage instead. I would certainly recommend that in this sort of food establishment, the employees be well versed in the selection in order to help the customers.
The interior is spacious, usually quiet, and affords space for people to study, catch up, and relax. Note that, on weekends (I was told this by staff on a Saturday, so please correct me if this is inaccurate) breakfast sandwiches are served until 2pm and it’s soups, baked goods, and bagels (if they are available) thereafter. I would love for the weekends to be a time to find a broader selection here, especially as a late afternoon lunch (er).

After a business meeting (in which I whined about my lack of caffeine), I was encouraged to check out Forage Market for their «amazing coffee drinks» and «possibly one of the best bagels you’ll ever have.» How could I NOT check out a place after a pitch like that, eh? When I inquired why their bagels were so amazing, the person responded starry-​eyed and drooling a bit, «They make them themselves AND they make their own cream cheese, too!»
I was a bit skeptical, because I had previously been to Forage Market years before when they first opened. Truth be told, I was relatively unimpressed with them then (steep prices, haphazard layout, inattentive employees). I’m not sure if they’ve settled into their space and role in the L/​A area or if I’m just less of a curmudgeon now, but… I love this place. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. I love it so much that I want to drive an hour north out of my way just to come here.
Forage Market seems like a warmer version of some of the small, locall-​owned grocery boutiques in Portland. It’s both inviting and approachable, and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of entitled or judgmental attitude coming from the other customers. It’s rustic and authentic, and boasts a variety of handmade breads, soups, baked goods, and other treats along with fresh produce, a variety of beer options, etc.
I had a soy latte and a wood-​fired everything bagel with Kalamata olive cream cheese (yes, both are made on site). As I waited, loads of people came through, and the employees knew all of the regulars by name — they even had orders ready to go before some people even asked. I love that attention to detail, consistency, and thoughtfulness.
My soy latte was great. Nothing revolutionary, but the espresso seemed perfectly pulled. This will now be my destination in town to grab one. The bagel was also very good — probably the best in the Lewiston/​Auburn area actually. It was supremely dense and chewy (my jaw actually ached) and I could have been perfectly content with just half of it — that’s how filling it was. They are very heavy-​handed on the cream cheese (the Kalamata is tangy and divine); so if you don’t like that (I do, so no complaints here) be sure to say something.
What do I want to come back for? All the other bagel and cream cheese options. And to try some of their unique lattes. And on Monday, the Falafel Sandwich (Maine made Papous falafel with Israeli chopped salad, shredded carrot pea shoots, and vegan tzatziki on fresh organic ciabatta); on Wednesday, the Beet Burger (house made golden beet veggie burger with whipped feta, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and spinach with sun dried tomato veganaise on house ciabatta); on Friday, the Tempeh «Chx» Salad (marinated roasted organic tempeh in house veganaise topped wwith local greens on organic wood fired ciabatta); and, early in the morning for their myriad of amazing breakfast sandwich options, and… and… and…
I’m so glad places like this are redefining the Lewiston/​Auburn area!

Forage Market is ALL THE STUFF MY DREAMS ARE MADE OF. Sorry for yelling, but this place exists? And it’s my hometown of the Dirty Lew? Come onnn. Seriously. I never imagined that such a place would exist outside my head, let alone in my own hometown. It’s as if someone took a trip into my heart, discovered all the things that make it sing, and made it real. AND I never would’ve known to come here if it hadn’t been for a then-​stranger named Jeremy who told me about it while I was doing a solo beer tasting a few days before. Thank you, Universe!
Case (s) in point: I was really craving a specific beverage which is an Earl Grey tea latte, sometimes called a London Fog, and no one in town (that I knew of) made it. Until I stepped into Forage Market. I was in town for a few days visiting the parents and I looked everywhere for Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps (only thing I use if I can help it because my sensitive skin only likes that specifically) and couldn’t find it. Until I came to Forage Market. I was in search of grass-​fed free range meats. I’m not sure if other places have it, but Forage Market has it! Also has so much other stuff that I love but I won’t go into more detail because maybe some of the things you love aren’t the same things I love so it won’t matter. And the paintings of chickens in the bathrooms? I want to make them mine take them home. The invitation to go downstairs and watch their wood-​fired bagels being made? Absolutely, yes!
All food options sounded delightful and looked beautiful. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and it was truly one of the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many across New England). Their rugelach was also tasty and I look forward to trying many more things the next time I’m here. There is a cheese shop, a deli section, an area of fresh baked breads, a large fridge area containing the aforementioned meats, as well as Smiling Hill Farms milks, kombucha, single serving and full size almond milk, prepared lunches, and many other things, a gorgeous beer and wine section, jams and jellies and spreads for sale, local pottery and art, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Only negatives: because its so great, and people know it, its very busy on weekends. Prepare to wait for a seat during peak hours.

I have had all 3 meals of the day at Forage… plus several coffee and pastry stops.
Breakfast — amazing french bread (homemade) topped with egg, basil, and cheese.
Lunch — have had a variety of awesome sandwiches. Their items tend to be locally sourced in their prepared foods and also a great selection of meats and cheeses to purchase separately from the case.
Dinner — they also prepare a nightly special. My husband and I had the chicken pot pie one night. It was fabulous.
Forage is a great addition to LA. Stop in for a coffee and an almond croissant — you’ll be hooked.

Delicious bagels! Good deal and often fresh. Lovely cappuccino, as well.
Haven’t eaten a meal there, but the selections always look and sound great. Fantastic little market of local and organic goods.
