History

Established in 1972.

Big Blue Bird Early Childhood Center was founded in 1972. From our humble beginnings as a modest in-​home daycare to our current beautiful location on Eastland Parkway we have always believed children learn best through play and a hands-​on approach in a safe and nurturing environment.

For more than forty years, BBB’s dedicated, caring, and professional teachers and staff, combined with the support and generosity of family members and local partnerships, have enabled BBB to continue its tradition of providing excellence in child care, with outstanding educational programs.

We have received numerous awards and accreditations over the years. Most recently these have included: 2010 Teacher of the Year awarded by Child Care Council and a 2 STAR rating by STARS for KIDS NOW.

Meet the Business Owner

Dan and Liz L.

Business Owner

Dan and Liz bought Big Blue Bird from its founders in November, 2004. Dan received a double major in Accounting and Business Management and became a CPA in 1989 after passing all parts of the CPA exam on the first attempt. An accomplishment he is very proud of! Liz has a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Education. She worked in the Kentucky Public School System for 10 years until going into Child Care for the past 11 years.
