I’ve really grown to love the Carnegie Center. I attend their free writing practice on Fridays sometimes. The group leader gives prompts and everyone writes together for 1 hour and a half. It’s nice to be in the company of other writers.
They have a great selection of classes and programs and do a lot to help the community. I went to the Catcher in the Rye party there and had a wonderful time. There were beautiful decorations, entertainment and a wide selection of food and drinks. The building is beautiful and it’s right next to Gratz Park and Transylvania University.

One of Lexington’s hidden secrets. My daughter recently started Geometry tutoring there. The availablity fills quickly. She was on a waiting list and had to wait about three months for an available slot.

The Carnegie runs all sorts of community programs, from writing support groups to tutoring to learning languages. I adore this place, largely because it sits in the former location of the original Lexington Public Library and the rest because this place fills a needed gap in the community for creative people. Prices are always reasonable. I wish more people would take advantage of what they do. The best way to get a feel for it is to check out the latest brochure of offerings.
