Making mobility possible!

History

Established in 1976.

Established in 1976 Superior was founded in 1976 by Dan Cook, Sr. as a family-run business that primarily sold used cars. It soon transitioned to a Luxury Van Conversion company, then to a mobility dealership and is currently one of the largest mobility dealers in the country with nine locations in four states. This transition and growth has been led by his son, Sam Cook.

Meet the Business Owner

Sam C.

Business Owner

Sam started in the business when he was just 14 years old. By the age of 16, Sam had moved into a sales position which he balanced with the demands of high school. In 1990 he graduated Doss High School as President of his Senior Class, and as a member of the Doss Athletics Hall of Fame. After graduation, he entered the Business Administration Program at the University of Louisville and by 1995, took over as Production Manager of Superior Van Conversions. During the mid 1990’s, Sam recognized the potential growth of the mobility industry and how the minivan was emerging as a fuel efficient option for many people. By 1997, Superior Conversions evolved into a lowered floor minivan dealership and changed its name to Superior Van and Mobility. Since that time, we’ve opened 8 additional Superior Van and Mobility locations: Lexington, KY. in 1998, Fort Wayne and South Bend, IN. in 2004, Evansville, IN. in 2005, Knoxville, TN. in 2009, Baton Rouge, LA. and New Orleans, LA. in 2012.
