History

Established in 1980.

Originally created as a holiday venue in Lexington for local artisans to showcase their designs, Crafty Yankee grew into a year-round business with a permanent storefront in 1980. Current owner, Kathy Fields, purchased the shop in 1994 and fulfilled her long-time dream of owning a local business. After working in the department store world of «big retail» for more than 23 years, it was the opportunity to be closer to the customer and give something back to the community, that was the lure.

We are indebted to the talented people that create many of the wonderful gifts that we offer in the store. Many of these artisans depend on shops like ours to support their families and use their skills to make the world a more beautiful place.

Seasonally we offer promotional events, artisan showings, appreciation coupons and special gifts-with-purchase. We also feature complimentary gift wrapping, a personal shopping service, daily UPS shipping and senior discounts. We make it easy.

My love of shopping comes from special childhood exeriences with my paternal grandmother, She created unique clothing for professional women who desired distinctive apparel at more affordable prices. We used to research the newest trends and then shop for the beautiful fabrics and trimmings to make them come live. She was an amazing inspiration. After college I joined a retail program for buyer trainees at John Wanamaker’s in Philadelphia and never looked back. My wonderful store experiences have included Filenes, Talbots, Dillards, Macy’s and corporate Federated Dept Stores in NYC.
