Youfit Health Clubs

I signed up here. The locker rooms are clean, there is new equipment. What I was not happy with was their people. I got a personal trainer and he told me he would tailor a program around me. What I got was a piece of paper with someone else’s name scratched off and my name written in. I was not issued a refund and also had to pay the next month due to the fact they wanted a 30 day warning.

Why 1 star? Because of the ordeal I’ve gone through, and being stuck with something I now don’t want.

After gym shopping, I chose to join YouFit on 8÷19÷15. I was excited, a bit nervous, and ready to take control of my health. I was clear with the two that assisted in setting up my membership that I was a noob in the gym and wanted to have some structure from a trainer. So, I was sold a small monthly package to meet with a trainer for the next three months. Cool. We set up my assessment date — ⁸⁄₂₁ — and I went on my merry way.
I come in Friday the 21^st to meet with my trainer to find that he’s had a family emergency and should have called to reschedule. It was an emergency, so no harm and no foul in my book. I rescheduled for the following Monday, the 24^th.
I walk in on the 24^th, tell the guy I’m there to have my assessment with the trainer. He scans my card, tells me that the trainer will be with me and that I should get on a treadmill to warm-​up. Twenty-​five minutes later, I stop the treadmill and walk back up front to inquire if the trainer even knows I’m there and I’m told that I was somehow deleted from his schedule and that I don’t have an appointment with him anymore that day. Perturbed, I reschedule again for the following day, which I reiterated that I expected things to go smoothly for the third attempt.
So, today — the 25^th — I get a text from the trainer asking if I can push up our session by 30 minutes or a hour. I inquire as to why and I’m told there’s another family emergency. What?! How do you plan a family emergency, and it’s called an emergency because you need to leave. He then tells me the front desk screwed up and he didn’t know I was his client from the start and he was sorry for the confusion. At this point, I was done. I showered, put on clothes, and drive up to the gym to speak with the manager. I explained all of this and told him I didn’t want to continue with them anymore, that I wanted a refund and my contract canceled. His boss tells me that I only had 3 days to cancel by KY law and that there’s nothing he can do, that I should give them another try, and that I should change my attitude about it. Excuse me?! First, it’s their policy not KY law. Second, how many tries do you need to get it right — 3 wasn’t enough already? Lastly, my attitude is justified so don’t tell me to come in with a different attitude.
So, I’m now stuck in this contract for the next 3 months (which was not explained I had 3 days to cancel, mind you) and I don’t even want to go here anymore. I didn’t even get to work out here and was treated like crap and they want me to come back. Wow. Taken advantage of yet again with another gym; no lube, no kiss on the neck, just f’ed.
Caveat emptor!

Youfit, just some suggestions on how to make members’ visits to Youfit worthwhile.
1) If you are going to cut locks off of lockers at least give prior notice. I understand you want to make sure there are lockers for other members but at least post signs around the locker room so that members are aware they can not leave their locks on the lockers over night. Putting post its on the locker is unprofessional and I am sure there will be some upset women when they come back to the locker and see you have cut the locks off, which leaves their personal belongings exposed and open for theft. There have never been any signs posted since I have been a member, advising members of the policy.
2) Do not rush members out of the locker rooms so that the cleaning guy can clean, especially during peak hours when it is the busiest. There is nothing more rude and uncomfortable than feeling like you have to rush to get dressed. My suggestion would be hire a woman that can clean in the women’s locker room. I understand you want to keep the facilities clean but I have been a member at different gyms that managed to work around members instead of shutting the locker rooms down.
3) Many members will be repeat customers so if they cancel their membership try not to show your disappointment on your face because they probably will be back. I understand you would like to retain clients but how you react when they leave sets a tone for if they will come back.
Overall I still like Youfit, nice staff and clean facility but the above mentioned items could be improved. If you need clarification on any of my suggestion, please do not hesitate to send me a message.

After several attempts and finally a very nice chat with the area manager (he gets it) what nice guy! I did finally get my money back.
