History

Established in 2013.

The Ugly Cookie Dessert Shoppe was started in the home kitchen of it’s owner, Julie Cohn. It’s main focus was on Chocolate Truffles. After about a year of selling locally in Festivals and Markets, along with shipping throughout the country, it was time to move into a storefront location. Julie has always had a dream of owning a shop in a small, old-​fashioned downtown. A building was purchased in October of 2014, and after 6 LONG months of renovations, The Ugly Cookie moved into it’s current location at 16 S. Commerce, St., Liberty, SC. We have added Ugly Cookie Bars, Ice Cream, Chocolate Bark, and Cupcakes to our menu, and are slowly becoming quite famous, in the area, for our deliciously moist cupcakes. We also offer a variety of flavored coffees and hot teas, along with Iced Tea and Coke products. We have an Event Room that can be rented for parties, showers, meetings, etc… Our newest addition is The Closet At The Shoppe, which is a children’s consignment store!

Business Owner

Julie grew up gaining hands-​on business experience in her father’s various business ventures. She continued her passion for business during 20 years of holding various roles in the Hair Salon Industry, from Stylist, Assistant Manager, Store Manager, Group Store Manager, District Manager, and eventually, Salon Owner. After 20 years, she was ready for something different, and after giving out Chocolate Truffles for Christmas gifts, was encouraged to open a dessert shop. The rest is history…
