Business Owner

My name is Greg and I’ve been working with computers since 1995. My first computer had dial-​up internet. Over the years I’ve tweaked numerous name brand computers, built water-​cooled computers and several gaming computers. I founded Hardware Guys Inc. on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii, in 2006. I strive to always provide exceptional customer service in our shop and with our remote support service plans. We also offer hard drives, memory, video cards, etc. on-​hand locally.

My Family

I was born and raised in New Hampshire and spent a few years in the Sacramento area of California. In 2005, my mother took an early retirement and moved to the Garden Island of Kauai. Needless to say, I followed. In 2011, my mother decided to move back to California. In 2015 while visiting her, I was lucky to meet my soul-​mate, Crystal (hey, Crystal I love you!). Ok sorry, back to about us!

Very helpful. I was vacationing here and had an issue with my Mac and installing bootcamp and Windows onto the computer. They were able to help me out immediately and everything worked!

I was vacationing on Kauai Feb. 3 – 10 and realized that I had brought the wrong adapter for my new Lenovo ThinkPad Ultrabook. No one on the island had one, but when I spoke with Greg at the Hardware Guys — he said that he had a laptop at home, just like mine, and that the new adapter was square, versus the round ones of the past — and unfortunately no one on the island carried the new one yet. Greg actually offered to bring in his power cord/​adapter and said I could stop by and leave my laptop so he could charge it for me, and then he even offered to let me take it with me to my hotel. Crazy good service, to say the least. Who does that? This is the Nordstrom of IT help. Very impressed by Greg and his willingness to help. If I lived on the island, I’d be going to the Hardware Guys for all of my IT issues.

I had my laptop fixed at this location and the cost was $ 189.00
They do offer a same day FEE if you need your computer back right away.
A lot more expensive that I had experience from other companies in the past.
Only one person was working at the time so when other people came in he was overwhelmed.

A couple months ago, the power supply on my desktop died so I brought it there, paid 30 bucks for expedited service (in addition to their fees) and got a phone call two hours later.
I was very happy with how fast I got it back.
Fast forward to a week ago when I realized my other disk drive was not showing up on my computer. I rarely use it so I never realized it wasn’t there until the day I needed it.
I opened my desktop case and saw the disk drive was there with a cable hooked up to it but no power cable. After I had to take my whole computer apart, I saw the extra power cable was wedged behind and under the power supply unit.
The question I ask myself is this, WTF was the technician thinking? Plug in the controller cable but not plug in the power cable?
Loren, I sang your praises that day and I’m telling you now, I’m taking it back. It’s very uncool to do incomplete work.
Lucky for me I actually know how to fix my computer. I was just lazy that day. That teaches me never to do this again. I can’t imagine the hassle people have to go through in order to get their computers fixed and then have to go after the techs who do this stuff.
Anyhow, I put the power cable in and now it works.
