Specialties

Loon Mountain is New England’s most-accessible mountain resort destination, offering plenty of exciting year-round activities, including scenic gondola rides, summit glacial caves, Aerial Forest Adventure Park, Ziplines, Segway tours, rock wall climbing, and more. Located in New Hampshire’s White Mountains just two hours north of Boston and three miles from Exit 32 off Interstate 93, Loon was rated the most accessible mountain resort in the East by readers of SKI Magazine in October 2012, as well as a Top 10 Eastern resort.

History

Established in 1966.

Loon Mountain Resort was built in 1996 with direction from Sherman Adams, a former New Hampshire governor and chief of staff to President Eisenhower. The new ski area helped the region transition from a logging to tourism-based economy.

The mountain has grown significantly in the nearly 50 years since it opened; the resort’s newest trails, on South Peak, opened in 2007.
