History

Established in 1963.

Bought in 1963 by J.E. «Jack» Fleming from the York family. At the time of purchase the «Lindale Feed Store» carried one line of feed and fish bait.

Jack’s son James was brought in to manage and build the business.

The original location was 109 Hubbard Street, but quickly expanded to include the two storefronts to the west to acommodate the expanding product lines and services.

By 1968 the store had outgrown the downtown location; an agreement was made with Missouri-​Pacific railroad to lease the old abandoned «depot» location. This provided access to cheap rail freight, and after moving in three additional buildings increased the store size fourfold, allowing an additional increase in product lines and services.

In 1978 James’ son Jimmy joined the business and James began retirement.

In the 80’s Missouri-​Pacific ceased to provide rail service to Lindale, which eliminated the freight advantage to location had provided. During the next decade, Lindale begin to grow rapidly and bus
