Powell & Turner

When our 23-​year old HVAC system broke I thought I was going to have to replace the entire unit and even had a general contractor come out who told me that was exactly what I was going to have to do. Thankfully, I called Powell & Turner and Wayne came out just two days later to look at the system and tell me that the problem was nothing more than a low tank of freon, which he filled. Now, not only do I have a working air conditioning system with the heat of the summer just around the corner but the company saved us literally thousands and thousands (and thousands) of dollars!

Wow! This company really saved us. They actually called us back during the Memorial Day Holiday and scheduled to come out on Memorial Day, and did not charge a holiday fee. When Trey came out he throughly explained everything to us and did the necessary repairs. I feel more than comfortable using this company for when we decide to upgrade our 20 year old unit. Thanks again Marian and Trey for your great service.

Powell and Turner was EXCEPTIONAL. They diagnosed the issue with the HVAC system. Since the parts were under warranty, they called the company for me to order the right part and have it shipped. They came out the same day that the part came in and fixed the issue. The HVAC has never been working more efficiently. I will use them for all my services since they went above and beyond. The process was hassle free for me.

I contacted P&T based on a recommendation from a friend. We have heating problem in a room with a cathedral ceiling and thought a mini-​split might be the solution. P&T came out and thought that might be a resolution too, but they did a couple of things that were much more low tech and only cost a couple of hundred bucks instead of several thousand. Their suggestions have certainly made our situation better, though might not have totally resolved our heating problem. But they didn’t go for the hard sell on the expensive item and tried to do the simple fixes first. This was very much appreciated. I’m still not sure if we’ll go with a mini-​split, but if we do, it will be with P&T.

I called P&T for an emergency service request and they came out right away. They took care of my problem even though I had never used them before and they didn’t put in my original equipment. Furthermore, they provided me with a free estimate for new equipment when needed. Very professional, timely and honest. I would very much recommend them.

A++ !! After an intermittent problem to wouldn’t reappear after the company’s first visit, Wayne (owner) personally came out and checked it again for no charge. The problem was solved and the technicians were friendly, polite, and great at explaining what was being done. This is one of the best local companies I have dealt with in a long time. Do not hesitate to give them a call.

Just a quick word of thanks for P&T. Although I did not ultimately use this company for a HVAC replacement, I wanted to comment on their great customer service. I called for an estimate at 830 and Brian showed up as promised at 1030.
After taking down the specs of the existing system he worked up a quote. The bottom line for me was the price. I’m replacing an old unit with a new one in a rental property I plan to sell in a few years. If I were in this house for the long haul I would have gone with P&T.
I never felt as though Brian were trying to pressure or up sell me. He was professional and courteous, which is what is missing these days from businesses large and small.
If you are looking for this type of work, you should put this company at the top of your list.

Service doesn’t get any better than with Powell & Turner! We first met Wayne and his crew about 25 years ago when they were contracted by Sears to install a new forced air furnace in our first home, an old farmhouse. They did such a nice clean job that we called them back when we built our current home. Again, their pricing was great and they installed two units — upstairs and downstairs, with all duct work — clean, efficient, and friendly service. Now we maintain their warranty service and they come out each spring and fall and perform complete checks of all systems. They check every little detail so we know we’ll have heat and air conditioning when we need it. Their personal service is great and they stand behind all of their work. We highly recommend them. If I could give them 10 stars I would!

In Short– They provide great service and at affordable price!
I was skeptical at first because they have only two reviews which were great. My HVAC unit went out yesterday and I was desperate to find a company to come out to repair our unit. I called several 4+ stars rated (with lots of review) but they are all too busy and didn’t have any availability or didn’t service our areas.
I called Powell & Turner and spoke to Brooke. She provided excellent service and said that technician can come in an hour. I was very surprised since we have been experiencing a heat wave but I am so glad that they were available. Barry, the technician, arrived in 58mins. I have never experience any service providers (plumbing, cable, electrician, etc) that actually arrives on time.
Barry was very nice and explained that their price is fixed based on the price list which is very convenient. No worries about someone gouging you. After I explained to him what was my problem (blower works but no cold air), he said it is likely outside. He pinpoint to source of the problem within 5 mins and determined that my capacitor was bad by visually looking at the capacitor and then confirming it with a volt meter. He replaced it immediately and our home finally has cool air. After he replaced the capacitor, he went inside and did a complete inspection of the unit and even spent sometime explained what things were if I was interested in learning about my unit which I was very happy to hear and learn. He even put on shoes covers when he came into our home which I am sure my wife will appreciate when she hears about it.
The only con is that there is a $ 99 come out fee which isn’t waived even if you select their service. However, Brooke and Barry stated that they had a promotion in which it was reduce to $ 50 for first time customer which I was happy to hear. Even without the discount, I think the $ 99 is worth because Barry thoroughly inspected the condenser unit outside, the refrigerant level, and the unit inside. Most service companies just charge you a flat come out service without doing anything.
In summary, I was skeptical at first with only two reviews but thank goodness I went with Powell & Turner. They are wonderful company with great and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend using them. I even kept a flyer of the company on the side of my refrigerator for my winter maintenance service.
If the owner is reading this review, I want to say that Barry is exceptionally knowledgeable in HVAC. He has great customer service and did a great job. We are very happy.

Powell & Turner have done several projects for me. They have consistently came in with the best quotes and continue to amaze me with the quality and attention to detail of their work. The entire staff is attentive and personable. They will discuss options and give expert professional opinions. If anything ever happens, I know Powell & Turner has my back. That’s why I won’t go anywhere else. A family owned business you can actually trust is hard to come by these days!
