The Conference Center At the Maritime Institute

Came for a buffet dinner and it was disgusting. Some dish of greens, unrecognizable, which no one touched, pork chops that resembled leather, and shrimp curry that was very unpalatable. The serving area was about 95 degrees and the heat and smell was just disgusting. I would never choose to come here again.

Staying here for a training course, and not impressed with the hotel side. Front desk staff is hit or miss, depending on who is helping you. The «angry guy» doing late check-​ins either doesn’t know how to use the computer system, or doesn’t care, put me in the «pet room.» Chewed furniture, stained carpet, pet smell for the price of a 4 star. Don’t bother gambling and stay somewhere quality.

I’ve been here three times now and it has gotten better each time. The food is good and they have a great variety. They even had a raw bar (oysters, crab legs, shrimp) while I was there this time. The room I stayed in had a newly remodeled bathroom and the tv was very nice. Plus this place is union so you are supporting good jobs and the employees are very nice.

It’s not the prettiest or most modern, but the meeting space is good and the food is fantastic!

First time coming to an event at the conference center and aside from the poor signage… I parked in lot A where the signs pointed to conference center but the building on this side is not marked conference center so it gets very confusing.
The location is easily accessible, right off 695, down a nice wooded path, you almost forget you’re in Baltimore still. The facility and grounds are well maintained so that’s a bonus.
As for conference amenities, I am always a fan of public meeting spaces that have ample water fountains available and that was definitely the case here. Also, food was provided for the event and it was delicious and had a huge range of foods — and sweet potato fries — yum!!!

My office has our Christmas party here every year, and while there is ample space for the number of people, the food is mediocre at best. The meat is usually dry, and the sides lack seasoning. Desserts were about what you would find at a second-​tier grocery store. Worst of all, they only had one urn of coffee out for more than 100 adults (c’mon!).
Given the number of people we have, this is probably our best option in the area, but I sure do wish the food were better.

It’s an ‘ok’ place for a muti-​day stay-​overnight center, but it’s about a 2star hotel/​center.
The shuttle from the airport is a good 10min or so, likewise the shuttle to the lightrail to take you to downtown Baltimore.
The food is cafeteria style, but be sure to walk over to all parts to see what they’re serving, note that areas change daily, so open your eyes not to miss something to eat.
In the rooms are ethernet, bring an Airport Expess to make your own WIFI.
There is a rec room on the 7^th floor; pool, ping pong, shuffle board, table hockey.
Shuttle picked us up from lightrail at 10pm, not sure how late they run.
Checkout is 11am, otherwise $ 50 for 3pm checkout.
Room has a mini fridge and cable tv.

I attended a 9 day conference at the Maritime in July… The customer service was EXCELLENT! Even the food was delicious. Everyday, everything was fresh and filling. It got a little overwhelming!
My only complaints were the bed being too hard and only having a shower available in the room! Over a week without sitting in a bathtub was torture for me. Oh, and the toilet paper was extremely hard!!!
The shuttle drivers are very nice and accommodating. Even the desk staff, chef and dining staff, and every person that work on the campus was wonderful!

I enacted an Einstein theory last month — more or less got transported to another place and time (e.g. 1960 Mad Men set). I cannot believe no one has reviewed this place.
I was there for a three day conference. While a real hotel was not too far away, I decided that staying on campus and using the available shuttle would nix the need for a rental car.
The ‘staying on campus’ part was literal as the location is a real maritime school with ‘student’ laundry facilities, step-​in shower, p-​touch labels on towel bars instructing ‘do not use face towels to clean razors, shoes, or take off makeup’ — ew).
There’s something very out-​of-​place about me being at the Conference Center. On the first morning, I was awaken by an ominous siren and wonder is this a nuclear drill or a maritime wake up call? I got my answer when the same eerie siren sounded the next morning.
Food is served cafeteria-​mess hall style and tastes as such. And if you miss a meal, it’s either delivery or go out as room service has not been invented yet, I mean, not available.
While the rooms do not have mini-​bars, a bar and vending machines for sodas, chips, etc. are located on the first floor.
While waiting for the shuttle to take me elsewhere for dinner (e.g. Oops, I just missed dinner in the mess hall and will have to venture out for some crab cakes), I sit amidst the smokers, holding my breath and contemplating the mores of a time when smoking was not just acceptable, but stylish.
Back at the room, I watch some free progamming from a fat lightbox of a TV and ate the delicious crab cakes. Leftovers got stored in the empty mini frig.
On the third day, I bought a book on navigational maps from the gift store just in case the captain of the time machine needed direction to get me back to the present.
