Emergency Veterinary Services is a caring, compassionate, professional organization with high service standards. We took our American Bulldog there one night recently due to a broken toenail that was causing him quite a bit of pain. They treated him quickly and efficiently. What had been an «Oh no!» nighttime emergency situation was taken care of in minutes, so that we and our dog could go on about our evening and get a good night’s rest. They provided antibiotics and pain meds to assure a good recovery. Throughout, they treated us and our dog with respect and caring. It’s clear that they love animals. Great job!

My bf and I found ourselves at Lisle Emergency Vet twice over a 4 day period. We foster cats for a car rescue and one of our fosters fell extremely ill on New Years Eve. We were told to go directly to Lisle ER Vet and we rushed there with him around noon. The staff rushed him in back and shortly after told us that he would’t survive and needed to be put down. We were both devastated but they let us in the room with him to say goodbye. The doctor was so gentle with going over the procedure and how we should handle our other cats at home to keep them healthy.
Unfortunately, three days later on Sunday, we found ourselves back at Lisle ER Vet, this time with one of our resident kitties. She had also come down with what had taken away our foster cat. We asked the Vet what we could do and he gently told us that she would be in less pain if we said goodbye. He gave us time to discuss our options among ourselves and when we decided that it would be better to put her down peacefully, the Vet and Vet Tech were both very sweet and understanding with our broken hearts. They let us hold her as she fell asleep and again, explained the process with receiving her ashes and what to do at home. We followed their advice and I’m happy to say that the disease that took our two cats from us hasn’t hit any of our other cats at home.
I am sad that I had to use Lisle ER Vet with during such sad times, but I would recommend it for any emergency needs. All the employees that we can into contact while we were there were very knowledgeable and very understanding. We received a beautiful card from there after our kitty passed that now sits next to her picture frame memorial. I honestly hope that I don’t have to go back any time soon, but I know exactly where I will go if I ever have an emergency in the future.

Emergency Veterinary Services has been there for my pets with both happy and tragic outcomes. They handle both with professionalism and compassion. From the time my dog ate something bad (pass the stomach pump, please) to when my 17-​year-​old cat made her final vet visit, we have been very pleased with the vets and staff. There is always a follow-​up call to see how the pets are doing, and the prices are reasonable. On the visit that every pet owner dreads — and I was not expecting to have to do it quite yet — we were treated with gentleness. Our cat was euthanized with care, wrapped in blankets, and she left this world with love. The vets and staff sent us a beautiful handwritten note within a day or so. I recommend Emergency Veterinary Services so highly.

I am late in writing this review, but better late than never. I had one good experience at this emergency vet hospital, and one horrible and deplorable experience, which is why I will NEVER take my pet here again. The first one was to check my previous dog’s eyes after I put the wrong medicine in her eyes (it was intended for her skin) … I caught the mistake right away and flushed her eyes out well, but I wanted to have them checked to make sure no damage had been done. I was seen by a female vet (I assume it was the same female vet that others gave high stars for, but she no longer works there). The next time I went to this hospital was when my beagle was diagnosed with a large liver tumor (she was not acting herself and her breathing was labored, so I was very concerned). After telling me that my beloved pet had a large liver tumor, he essentially ignored me for 45 mins while he attended to another patient who came in after me. My dog was in obvious pain, and vomited 3 times in the waiting room after pacing around in terrible discomfort, while he flirted with the other woman. No pain meds were given to my pet, no advice or recommendations were given to me, let alone comfort… we were abandoned in their dreary waiting room. My pet died that weekend (diagnosed 36 hours later with hemangiosarcoma that had metastasized at Vet Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove). This place is dark and depressing and lacks minimal empathy for pet owners. My advice … if you care about your pet at all, take them somewhere else.

The emergency services for pets is great! I took my cat there yesterday because he wasn’t feeling well and I found out that he was constipated. And they had to stick an enema in his behind. And he was back to his normal self. And we got to pick him up later that night. Recommend this to all!!!

So my cat can’t seem to have issues during normal vet hours. We recently moved to the area and our regular vet is in Geneva anyway. Loki wasn’t peeing normally and soiled his bed. We were thinking about waiting till Tuesday to take him in to the regular vet. After some internet research I decided to call EVS to see what they thought. Due to a potential complete blockage which can be deadly, we took him in.
For emergency services I found the cost extremely reasonable. 95 dollars for the exam and then all diagnostics and treatment was comparable to a normal day time vet visit. I was pleased with both techs that were there and the vet that saw my cat. For having to go to the emergency vet it was an «enjoyable» experience.

A trip to the emergency vet is never a fun experience. The staff here makes it as enjoyable as possible. The staff REALLY cares about animals, it’s very obvious! The night before I was supposed to go on vacation, I noticed something was wrong with my cat. I called over to Emergency Veterinary Services and they told me to bring him over. After a short 20 minute wait, they began treating my cat. Again, Dr. Smith and the vet techs were really caring and asked a lot of questions to make sure they understood what was going on with my cat. They thoroughly assessed his issues and provided me with medications, prescription food and instructions for care. They even sent over their lab work and x-​rays to my usual vet.
They do require payment at time of service. I felt what I was charged was reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to take any of my pets here again in an emergency.

I can’t say enough about how pleased I was with my first visit here. Professional courteous staff that cares more about you sick animal then about building a huge bill.
Dr Otto was great with my 10 week old puppy Rosie who suddenly developed kennel cough. Something I have never experienced in all my years of sharing my life with pets. The sound is just awful. But Dr Otto assured me with medication and rest Rosie will soon be good as new.
This is the friendliest emergency vet office (both personally and on the wallet) that I have ever been too.
It is comforting to know I have finally found somewhere to go with a sick pet when our regular doctors are not in the office. I will have no problem going back if the need arises.

This facility and the people who work there are wonderful. I’ve been there twice now and they are kind, compassionate and efficient. They work well with my regular vet. If you have a pet emergency, these are the people to see. Thank you all!

Unfortunately, I found myself at this location late last night with my family’s elderly and ailed dog. There was no question in our mind what we were going to have to do when we walked into this clinic. The front office staff and the veterinarian were exceptionally pleasant and kind. They assured us we were doing the right thing — the humane thing. They handled the entire situation thoughtfully and were genuinely sympathetic. I’m thankful they were there with us, to not only comfort our dog as she passed, but to comfort us with the situation. They are lovely people.

Dr. Amy Smith and the gang were a pleasure to work with. Amy has a tremendous bed side manner that most vets just don’t get right at all. We have been to countless vets because our older dog had horrible allergies, so we have experience with what to look for.
We scheduled a spay with Amy and everything went flawlessly. From the introduction to our dog, surgery, and follow up I could t have asked for better care and service. I was even given some water to quench my thirst while waiting. Go here if your pet needs help.

I had to take my sweet doggie here yesterday, as my regular vet, strangely, does not work every moment, like Sundays. This is one of two places his office message recommends. I called both, and after giving a description of the problem, asked what the fee would be for the office visit and the basic workup for the problem. I am in the medical field, and have had pets with similar symptoms, so I do know that every problem has a basic workup to be expected. Facility #1 had an office visit price that was 40% higher than EVS, and would not divulge any other costs. EVS gave me a ballpark figure so I wouldn’t have sticker shock. I also checked reviews of both facilities on multiple sites (all of this in a mere 15 minutes). Facility #1, while just as highly rated for care, was accused of price inflation and perhaps some overzealous testing. EVS was not. Though located twice as far from my home, it was no contest. Plus, they were much nicer on the phone; always a plus. They asked that I call before coming in so that they could be set up for her visit.
Miss Doggie and I were there within the hour. A tech started out, doing her thing. Dr Otto came in and informed me that we may have more going on than is visible, but that in his experience it isn’t likely. He stated we could forego further testing, but it was necessary to give my dog pain meds and an antibiotic for her bladder infection (hopefully not any urinary crystals cum stones), I was instructed to follow up with my regular vet at the end of the 10 day antibiotic course, and bring a urine sample (they provided collection devices) or sooner if she appeared to be worsening. They also said they would fax over the visit record so my regular vet would have complete information. This is how it should be done!

The staff at EVS are amazing! I had to take my pug in on Thanksgiving Day. She broke a nail and it was bleeding badly. I called and rushed her over. Dr. Lobitz and the staff were super caring. Dr. Lobtitz explained what they would have to do and they took her in back to fix her up.
I cannot explain how relieved that I was that they were available on a holiday and made my baby feel better. We had to follow up with our regular vet the next morning as her bandage was coming off. EVS had already sent them a summary of what happened so my vet was aware and was able to respond to my 8 AM call.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone that has an after hours emergency. They are compassionate, professional, and priced very fair for an ER clinic!

Wednesday was a horrible night. My 17 year old cat was in kidney failure & I could not wait till morning to see my own vet. So I had to go to the Lisle ER Vet Service. I was not looking forward to it as I thought they would be impersonal & businesslike. Boy, was I wrong. After the exam, the decision was made to put her to sleep. Nicole, the vet assistant, was amazingly compassionate & spent a lot if time explaining everything & knowing just when to leave me be. The vet also was so empathetic & calmly put to rest my guilt, making this horrible experience much more bearable. If I were ever in such a situation, I would not even think twice about visiting these kind people.

For you and your furry friends’ sakes, I hope you don’t need this place.
But if you do, you’re in good hands.
We dog-​sat for my in-​laws for over a week recently while they went on vacation. His second night with us, we found him nosing around in my purse, with an empty ibuprofen bottle on the floor, open. Immediate panic set in. I found this place from the All Creatures Great & Small website (that’s where we take our dog for his regular vet visits), called them, and they recommended I come in right away.
On my way there, while at a stoplight, I discovered the contents of the pill bottle were actually in the bottom of my purse. But since I’m not OCD enough to have counted them previously, I could not be 100% certain the dog hadn’t eaten any, so I continued on.
The staff immediately took the dog back to start treatment while I filled out some paperwork. I told them what I knew — and that he couldn’t have eaten more than a couple, max — and they in turn told me what they had done and what they recommended. No pills were found in the dog’s vomit, and I felt even more reassured that he probably hadn’t actually eaten any, but until those talking-​dog collars from UP become reality, I had to make sure.
The short story is that the staff was friendly and professional and the vet himself was very reassuring. They were happy to answer my silly questions and even a few followups on the phone. I went home with two bottles of pills, instructions, a report and the reassurance that no permanent damage had been done.
Like I said, I hope you don’t need Emergency Vet Services, but if you do, these folks are really great.
Also, the dog got his revenge a week later when he chewed up my nice work sandals.

Woke up this fine Memorial Day with two dogs that still had diarrhea from the weekend and it started to worry me that it was not diet related as a bland diet and OTC meds were not doing a thing. Called and someone answered on the first ring. We got in around 8am and Dr. Otto was super nice. He talked us through everything and made sure to explain the shots the dogs would get and the meds that would be prescribed. I don’t think we could have made it through the day without the shots and meds and we are very thankful that this office was open today. We appreciate the level of service and friendliness. So glad we had another option for an ER vet because I really did not want to go to VCA where everything is very much a over-​priced corporate structure.

I went here again last night with my dog and his scratched cornea. His eye looked horrible, and I had sudden midnight angst that I would wake up with a dog minus an eyeball, so I took him to the vet. He was thrilled at the midnight road trip until he realized where we were going.
I was told by the receptionist /​tech that the vet I was seeing was the new owner, Dr. Amy (Aimee??). There was no one else here, so I did not have to wait at all.
Dr. Amy was super nice to my dog and really seemed like she loved animals (you’d think all vets would, but shockingly, this has not proven to be true). She hugged and kissed him and let him lick her face, which was pretty impressive.
She put dye in his eye and let me see where the scratch was on his cornea.
She gave me an ointment to put on his eye, and we were out of there in about 15 minutes. The whole thing, including the 20-​minute drive both ways, took less than an hour.
The price was pretty average for what I’d expect, given it was midnight and I got a tube of antibiotic ophthalmic ointment out of the deal. It was around a hundred bucks, which I feel is very reasonable.
I highly recommend this place, as I did in my last review. Dr. Amy is fantastic, and her staff is friendly.
If you’ve gotta go somewhere in the middle of the night on a holiday, I guess this would be the place to go!

I can understand some people, when the visit does not have a positive outcome, want to blame someone, but after a number of visits here over 20 years, I am glad they are here.
For our latest visit, our dog was in respiratory distress and was seen immediately. Being in the medical profession, I found the treatment to be «spot on» and when our dog was stabilized, the doctor came out and explained everything including follow up care. We were in, treated, and out in 30 minutes.
Yes, the waiting room is in desperate need of «cheering up’, but there are new owners who will hopefully improve the overall appearance so you are not soooooooo totally depressed while waiting. Yes, it is probably more expensive than your regular vet, but it is the middle of the night and they are THERE.
However, the staff we dealt with, Emma and Dr. James Bascharon, were both compassionate and caring and answered all our questions. We did not even have to deal with any of the paper work until we were ready to leave.

Been here three times with three dogs. I can tell you right now it is by far the most depressing place I have ever been besides a cemetery.
Putting a pet down is worse than saying good bye to a human. F*&k you Mike Vick!
