Jean Z I completely understand I just returned a book that I had in a plastic bag when I took it home. Took me two days to read I put it back in the plastic bag and decided to return it to the counter because they always put false fees on there when it is returned on time and I didn’t want it to go through the shoot. the lady told me that this 11 YEAR OLD book had markings on the side of the binder I don’t know what the markings were I actually saw them when I picked the book up to check out. I said they’re not from me she said well you’re going to have to pay for the book! Yeah Right! I read my books in bed and once im done I place them back in my plastic bag of library books! Another old woman came out and said you have to pay for the book I said the hell I am! you calling me a liar? first of all do not defame my character I am NOT a liar! WHY would I mark up a book it looked like old marker or something. They are disgustingly rude obviously they’re hurting for money they’re the liars they obviously cannot do their own job and markdown all the little imperfections in a book, that is not my job! I did see that marking when I got the book but I figured hey its an 11 year old book!!! I didn’t know I had to do their job for them. I did not make any marking I will not pay for anything!!! Good luck to them and I am calling my attorney because this is not the first time I have had a problem with Lisle library they charge false fees all the time (esp when books are returned on time) and I am going to contact my lawyer for defamation. The book was transferred from Tinley called playground and I always use bookmarks but I guess they will try and blame me for creases too? Lol… What the heck is wrong with them? How dare they call an 11 year customer and resident a liar! DO not get any books out of this library go somewhere else! All these women have nothing better to do but to defame peoples characters make accusations that are utterly False and they can’t do their job! Im also going to contact someone in charge as well as let everyone in town know how they falsely accused me and really upset me and ruined my day. Im meeting with one of my lisle groups tonite and will be announcing their disgusting, unprofessional behavior. This group consists of a 100 Lisle residents and I will tell them all to tell at least 10 more people in our community each. One thing im not is a liar and I do not defame property for kicks. Are u kidding me! And I will not tolerate being defamed or falsley accused by anyone when I was trying to return the book on time and in a better/​safer manner then chucking it in some box like most people do! Im beyond appalled! They need to be reprimended and learn how to do their jobs and treat Lisle residents with respect! Was I angry hell yeah! I was properly returing a book on time and called a liar! Nobody speaks to me that way especially since I took very good care of that book and the others I borrowed unlike other customers who dont respect someone elses property. Btw folks this book was going on its 11^th year from another library and they wanted me to pay for all the stains and odd markings in it. lol…does that even make sense? Im a 39 year old women who lives alone, I dont sit and or roll around in mud or markers reading a book, i read before bedtime in bed. They have nerve in fact the library owes me a huge apology and If I do not receive one I will continue to social media as well as let all my fellow dupage residents know and help me spread the word of this behavior and nerve to make false accusations! And they better not try and say it wasnt returned! It was returned today Monday on time at 4:20 PM. I asked the women to log it in and she wouldnt. I have a witness and there better not be any other funny business.

Librarians are so helpful. It is mostly quiet. There is never and trash laying around; very clean. The entrance and exit switch is still odd for me but it seems like it flows better now. I hope they bring their return cart dance back for the 4^th of July’s parade. That was fun and cute. Good job everyone.

The best part about this place is that I can walk here… when I first moved to Lisle, I got a library card again right away… what’s better than using the place for their internet and some free books to borrow? Oh, and renting movies for $ 1???
When I first moved in, I found this place to be extremely useful for internet time while waiting for my cable/​internet to be hooked up… and also for when my cable/​internet is out of service, which isn’t too often. There is usually a computer free if you need to use it.
On their website you can reserve books and check out events as well — there are always events going on for kids, and adults too so it’s worth checking out! If you’re a resident in the area, they will send you a flyer of what is going on there from time to time.
As for staff — library staff can be hot/cold…my first job was at a library and I know there seems to be a mix of personalities among staff… some can be cranky, some can be friendly & helpful. As with every library, there is a mix!
I do need to get back here to renew my library card… I think once or twice a year, there is an entire month devoted to library cards and local businesses in the area will give you a discount when you flash your library card, so something to consider as well if you don’t already have one… PS — it’s free!

I am a nanny and I visit the Lisle library on a weekly basis. The library has a spacious kids area. Kids can enjoy books, puzzles, games, computers, etc. The staff in the children’s area is very friendly and helpful. They genuinely seem happy to see the kids from one week to the next. Storytime is offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning. The preschool group has storytime upstairs and the younger children meet downstairs. The two groups come together for a craft at the end. Make sure to check out the events around holidays. This library offers Halloween trick or treating and a Holiday Hop. The young kids love it! I will continue to visit this library on a regular basis!

We love the library and the librarians even more! There are so many fun activities to do at the library and events too!

I would have given lisle library 5 stars years ago. In the past ten years, I almost never had any problems checking in and out books. Staffs were nice and friendly and helpful.
However, recently I started having troubles with this library. They constantly forgot to check in the books I returned on time, but charged me with fine. Sometimes, the books were put back on shelves without being checked in. The on hold book requests are not processed on time. The already paid fine is still shown in my account. The staffs are very rude and not helpful at all. All of these make me so upset and frustrated every time.
I noticed many new faces there. While some senior librarians might have been retired, new employed staffs seem lack of training and not doing their jobs professionally. It is not the same library I love to go anymore. Go to another library if you have a choice.

Has lots of books, to read. Has a table, chair and the necessary lighting to read and review the above stated materials.
I read stuff here, often, in order to maintain my intellectual supremacy, over people of a lesser aptitude.

If you spend a lot of time at the library as an adult, there is really one thing that sets libraries apart: noise.
I hate to sound like an old curmudgeon, well, no I don’t. I have spent years taking my kids to libraries in the 5 suburban communities that I have lived in. We were very fortunate to have them all, but now the kids are older and I am usually going by myself, and I want a little quiet.
Yes, libraries are supposed to be inherently quiet, but that can mean a lot of things. I can think of two communities neighboring Lisle were the staff, not the patrons, tend to talk a lot at their stations or between desks. Who should I complain to?
I will criticize other libraries in their own reviews, so what is good here? First of all, it is the most quiet suburban library in the area. That means a lot, it must be part of the culture here that the staff are generally unobtrusive and quiet. That is great, I don’t want to overhear their personal conversations or gossip about library leadership or giggling/​laughing. I know that they are human, but I really appreciate their professionalism and respect for patrons.
The thing about this library, and i am loath to mention it lest it drive more traffic, is that in the back of the adult section there is a great area with large windows and a skylight. I try to get there early on weekends so I can get a table. It is a great place to do QUIET work, with plenty of outlets, good wifi, and did I mention quiet? It is especially nice when a storm rolls in, you can watch it move across the sky while you work in quiet.
But remember, that table in the back, it is mine.

Our library in little Ol’ Lisle certainly isn’t the biggest., flashiest building in town. It’s somewhat hard to find as it’s tucked away into a corner of town that overlooks our train station.
It is, however, a treasure trove of volumes of tomes for grownups, and an indoor playground for the kids. The pet turtles are stop #1 for when I’ve got my kids, followed up by some Xbox 360 and story time. The entire 2^nd floor of this place is for the kids, and for Dads and Moms with little ones, it’s an awesome escape on a rainy day. The XBOX corner is always a hit and there’s a nice selection of board games and toys (in addition to the books).
Adult services is nice, as well. Tons of new books come in every week and they keep the titles fresh. Very nice librarians make for a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend everyone in Lisle use this wonderful public resource.

I love this library! It’s always quiet, and they have a lot to offer for multimedia, including video games for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. They’re all free for 7 days! I think they also made all older DVDs free, too. This library isn’t as big as the Naperville library, but it definitely gets the job done for me.

The Lisle library has quite a bit for almost everyone. The have an extensive media section that includes DVD’s, CD’s, and even Xbox/​Wii/​PlayStation games. They recently dropped the $ 1 rental fee and is now free for card holders. That is sweet.
The book section is pretty good and so is their childrens section upstairs.
The staff downstairs is friendly however the staff upstairs, ironically in the childrens section, are a less so.

Not too impressed with the library here.
I used their pre-​registration form online to create an account and pre-​register for a library card. However, when I actually rolled in and told the librarian that I pre-​registered, he ignored me and entered all my information again. Because he ignored me, I had to create a second account and a second user name to view my online account. Erg.
I will be a trooper and understand why they need to charge patrons for DVD rentals, but I think $ 1 is steep when you can go to Family Video and rent 2 for $ 1 for the same amount of time.
I was also upset when the DVD I DID pay to take home couldn’t be read by my player because it was scratched, but when I took it back, the librarian did not care at all. She did not offer me a replacement or credit. Apparently, if your DVD doesn’t play, you basically just give the Lisle Library a donation in your name.
This will still be my go-​to library, since I live within Lisle, but I won’t be happy about until the staff does something proactive. And I definitely won’t be renting any more DVDs or CDs from them.

I can’t do it. I just can’t say anything good about this library.
Its selection is not great, with its overabundance of biographies and lack of copies of classics. However, that’s not a big deal. That’s not the real problem.
The problem is the place itself. The staff is ALWAYS cold, robotic, uncaring, and mostly unhelpful. One worker is guaranteed to be this way each day.
Actually, I think I should clarify what I mean by unhelpful. It’s not that the library staff CAN’T help you, it’s that they DON’T WANT to help you. You are almost guaranteed to be treated as if you are bothering them.
The best instance I have of this happened today, actually. I was looking for a movie that their online database said was in. I asked one of the librarians, who, as expected, acted annoyed. I was told that the movie was «in storage» while they renovated. «In storage,» of course, meant that it was behind a sheet of plastic in the actual library itself with practically the rest of their movies, and everyone in the library staff was far too lazy to bother to look for it for me. Heck, I would’ve even went myself to look for it if I had to, but to no avail.
Can I also mention that this is one of the last libraries in the WORLD that needed renovating? They think they NEEDED a renovation? They need a grip on reality, and to check on some other libraries in other states that need funding and new buildings much, much worse than they do. Glad to see that my tax dollars are hard at work here.
I also think it a rather snooty requirement that you need be a resident of Lisle before they’ll even considering loaning you anything. They even ask for proof of your residency, including a lease if you had just moved there. Honestly, if they have my name and my phone number, they obviously have a way to contact me if I haven’t returned something on time. What do they care whether or not I’m a resident? And for that matter, why do they now make a habit of always asking me anyways whether I am a Lisle resident every time I walk in.
Personally, this is the worst library I’ve ever been to. It doesn’t have to be this way.

When I moved to this area this is the first library card I carried. I loved this small, intimate library. It reminds me of the public library in my old town, and they observe silence as a rule. The one thing I truly despise about Naperville Libraries is the amount of noise, even from librarians speaking in street sound level voices.

The trouble with this place is it’s bulging with books! It would be impressive in a town considerably larger than Lisle. Helpful staff, nice online system, public computers, media rental, numerous special programs. Upstairs is the children’s section and a «Jr. High corner».
