Little Palm Island Resort & Spa

I was not as impressed overall as it seems that most people are. The expense to value ratio is grossly out of line unless you are solely looking for private disconnection and boredom. The small island is very nice to look at and walk around on. I really enjoyed that. The beach is not very desirable and the ocean water is not really usable. It was not appealing to go in, paddle board on or even just cool off. In fact, for the most part, the water was disgusting.
The food was just average in my opinion but priced above any 5 star restaurant that I have been to. We even had to send back our dinner on the last night because we were told the Yellow Snapper was fresh (which really means 2 days old and smelled VERY fishy) and the pork was tender. I think the pork could have been tender if you can get past the 4 cups of salt in was prepared and cooked in. Needless to say, we did not eat that night and decided to drink our meal. Oh yes, a bottle of wine is 4 times retail price.
the cottages were cute BUT, old and the coffee makers and coffee were less than what you would get in a budget hotel. Heck, a Hampton inn has better equipment and coffee.
Overall we were not impressed after spending $ 4000 for a couple of days. Sorry to say but, we wont be going back.
I will make this one side note. The Staff was TOP NOTCH. The deserve a better place to work because they were all VERY good.

Very very nice place for the holiday weekend. The weather has been beautiful, our stay here very nice. The bungalows are fantastic, service is great, food extraordinary. It’s very quiet, cell phone service almost non existent, it would be a long day if it was raining… it’s a great place to come to disconnect if you need that. If you’re looking for night life and multiple choices for dinner… you’d better stay in key west!

My review is about the best brunch day I’ve ever had! Arriving by boat to our brunch, walking in to bottomless champagne, looking over to the amazing buffet featuring shrimp cocktail, ceviche, oysters on the half shell, great salads and breads (the list could be a mile long) then all the great menu items (the quiche, French toast, and this amazing white fish (forgot the name) were our faves) we were seated at a beautiful table on the patio over looking the ocean and Belinda was a great addition to the day! She took great care of us and even though she had to repeatedly tell me «not to feed the Key Deer» I couldn’t help myself! I’ve never had the opportunity to feed and kiss wild deer and they were sooooooo sweet!!! I love every second of our 4hour Brunch on Little Palm Island! Y’all really make it special and I hope I’m lucky enough to have another fabulous day there!!! Thank you to all the gracious staff and to «Grandma» the deer who made my heart melt!!! Miss you girl!!!

Forget Disney, This is Florida’s Magical Destination
Our trip to Little Palm Island was nothing short of perfection from our arrival to our departure. The quality of the facility, the staff, and the amenities are second to none. This is the place to go of you want to unwind and press the pause button on the daily grind.
We arrived at the check-​in station and were greeted with a delicious rum concoction — the Goombay Smash. That alone became three — they are addictive. The boat ride into the island was reminiscent of taking a Venetian water taxi from Aeroporto Marco Polo to your hotel in the Serene Republic. Seriously, you will feel like Bond.
We were greeted at the dock by our concierge, who gave us a tour of the island and told us do what you want — the place is yours. She meant it. Want to go for a swim at 2 in the morning — go for it. Feel like lounging on the dock — why not? Want to sleep on the hammock two bungalows away — it’s yours.
When we got to our room after the tour, our bags were there — as was a filled ice bucket and mini-​bar.
Our room — their «basic» room — was amazing. We loved the high, four post bed, the soft, comfortable linens, and the outdoor shower. Even though the island was fully booked (that means 60 guests total) we had total privacy and never felt cramped. We occasionally saw the couple on the bungalow next to us and one time heard the couple on the bungalow attached to us.
Breakfast on your porch — delivered on time and perfectly prepared.
Poolside drinks were made with top shelf ingredients and perfectly crafted. We never had to look for out server and she often anticipated our needs (she quickly figured out we alternated water and a drink. Every single staff person was welcoming and approachable.
The Dining Room is second to none. It is one of the highest Zagat rated restaurants in all of Florida and my wife told me it is the third highest rated hotel restaurant in the U.S. Everything was prepared perfectly. The servers were fantastic and the menu changes daily. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu both nights and loved it. The only annoyance was that the restaurant doesn’t strictly enforce the dress code. I wish they did because it adds something intangible to the experience.
The only thing that we didn’t like about the trip was having to leave.
I recommend taking advantage of the Fine Hotel and Resort plan through the American Express Platinum Card. It really added some valuable benefits.
We had Suite #4. It faced the bay and had an eastern exposure. I would readily stay in that one again. The suites at the east end of the island have outdoor jacuzzis and are a little bit more secluded.

Every time I visit Ramrod Key, a trip to Little Palm is such a treat! A short boat ride to dining in the sand with visits from Key Deer are just some of the highlights! The food is tasty and views are priceless! Worth the effort! Just go!

Paradise in the States. Our travels universally involve Caribbean seas, pelicans and tropical delights. This is all and then some. Our arrival consisted of freshly coconuted cocktails and an evening yacht transfer to the private island. We moved from a beautiful cottage to the luxury suit so we could experience the amenities. You cannot go wrong either way! The first room we shared breakfast time with roaming, endangered key deer. Our personal petting zoo! After our move, the large, cedar hot tub on the open deck had us debating if this was, in fact, the best room we have stayed in. The only debate was over the Trident or GeeJam, both in Port Antonio, Jamaica. Besides outstanding service and wonderful company, the reason I am Unilocaling is the food. Being from south Florida, Cuban, Caribbean, tropical light foods are my first love. In the steamy setting of Little Torch Island, Chef Luis Pous exceeded all expectations! I am cooking from his cookbook tonight! I will be back for the experience topped only by Chef Pous’ divine imagination.

Exactly what my wife and I needed. Spent 4 nights here. Won’t forget any of them. So many unique and ROMANTIC things to do.
They will accommodate to any need. Pick up the phone and just ask. The answer was always «Yes sir, we can do that for you!»
Had a private dinner. Most romantic dinner we’ve ever had in 10 years.
Did the sunset sail. Unforgettable! May have been our favorite part of the trip.
Lots of sleep, love, food, and fishing! Need I say more?

This place is insanely expensive for what you actually get. The pictures are slightly deceiving. The beach is is more like a brush Lake that smells like sulfur. I witnessed one person spending time there throughout our entire four-​day stay. The pool is nice but all of the chairs except for one or two are in the shade the entire day. The rooms are nice but definitely need to be renovated. There were several spiderwebs throughout the rooms. The food was good but not $ 50+ entrée good. The hotel over all is nice, but should charge more like $ 400 per night.

Beautiful setting, wonderful food and the service is Five Star! Came for Sunday brunch, 2^nd time here. Have to take the ferry across. Beautiful weather !

This place is heaven on Earth!
At the moment you check in you feel that you are in a very special place. Their staff is amazing, very friendly and they always have a huge smile on their faces.
Once you get to the Island your experience begins. With beautiful and very private bungalows, you will feel like nobody else is there but you. The restaurant is amazing and they also offer a special romantic and private dinner at the beach with candles and your own servant.
They also have a great SPA!
It’s a wonderful place for a honeymoon or just a romantic vacation. I don’t recommend taking your kids there.

We spent our honeymoon here, and now are back for our 10 year anniversary. What an amazing, relaxing resort. Easily one of the 10 best in the US. The suites are magical, the food is amazing, and the service is fantastic. No words can describe how relaxing this place is. It literally is a place if you just want to get lost.

Went here for lunch. I had the shrimp salad and green salad with a piña colada. My boyfriend had the tuna salad with the cauliflower escabeche and a bourbon cocktail. Everything was perfectly prepared and the server was very accommodating.
LPI makes for a fun destination lunch because you can only arrive by a boat that sails from little torch key. Also, there are deer and some pretty sweet birds on the island.
The one set back was the price. Two lunch sandwiches w/​sides and two cocktails came out to $ 100! Definitely worth visiting if you want to splurge on a fancy, exclusive lunch while surrounded by beautiful nature… just beware of the cocktail menu – the mixed drink prices are not listed and my bf’s drink alone came out to $ 20.

My boyfriend and I were spending our anniversary in the Keys and wanted to really treat ourselves to a nice dinner. We heard about Little Palm Island from the concierge at our hotel and decided to make the 25 minute drive north. We made our reservation online through Open Table (great website) and they gave great directions and dress code instructions.
We arrived to the resort on the main land and were warmly greeted by the shore staff. They loaded us and two other couples in a gorgeous vintage woody motorboat and it took about 15 minutes to reach the island. We were in shock when we pulled up to the dock — the island is immaculate! We were definitely the youngest ones on the island, besides the staff, but it was still very fun. Unfortunately it was going to rain that evening so they had to put us on the covered patio instead of at a table on the beach (I was extremely disappointed about this because that was the whole reason we wanted to go there, but that’s Mother Nature for ya!)
We decided to do the 5-​course Chef’s Selection dinner and it was beyond delicious. There are so many options to choose from on the menu to make the meal special for you. Also, since the concierge from our hotel told them it was our anniversary, they added our names and a special greeting on the menu and we got to take them home.
After we ate, we decided to walk around the island and see the Key deer. They are so friendly (like dogs) and we explored the bungalows around the island. We highly recommend Little Palm Island for a celebration dinner because they make your meal so special.

I absolutely loved my stay at LPI. I saw this resort on an episode of the Travel Channel about ten years ago and I put it on my «to visit» list. My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway to celebrate our anniversary and it didn’t disappoint.
Many of the staff we encountered were phenomenal and will do what it takes to make your visit enjoyable. There are a number of things available for guests to use, for example they offer kayaks, motorized/​non motorized boats, fishing poles and bait… all included in your rate. We spent most of our days relaxing on the beach, and while it’s not for swimming, it’s just fine to wade in… (just watch your step, we saw a few jellies that washed ashore). The pool area has an abundance of shade if that’s something you’d prefer.
We dined at the pool bar as well as the dining room. Our dinners were fabulous and we enjoyed the live music each night while lounging around the fire pit. We enjoyed breakfast on our lanai as well as the restaurant. One of my favorite memories was sitting on the veranda of the restaurant during breakfast, watching the palm tree sway in the breeze, listening to the water and thinking… why don’t I live here?!
I loved the Key Deer! They’re so sweet and docile and they really attribute to the feeling of being on a remote island. There was a couple there who were shooing the deer away with their hat rather aggressively and I seriously wanted to bop them… please don’t do that to the deer… it’s their habitat. Don’t feed the deer and they’ll leave you alone. Speaking of remote… no talking on cell phones in public places (you can have them around, just don’t talk on them) and no television in the rooms… they do have one in the «library» just incase you need to catch part of that football game. :)
Rooms were spacious, equipped with a outdoor shower (that I used daily), a separate bedroom and living room as well as a vanity area (separate from the bathroom). There was a coffee pot and a small refrigerator stocked with complementary water and juice. A small snack bar was available for a fee.
I loved the fact that they make things so worry-​free… from check in, to valet– you don’t need a ticket (they remember what car you came in), to the small room amenities like umbrellas, and a beach bag with towels. We ran out of shampoo once, and when I called, they arrived with a bag full of shampoo and conditioner for me to use. Side note… their hand soap is amazing and we purchased some at the gift shop.
My one and only complaint was that we were not offered a drink upon check in… after reading the rest of the reviews I was a little bummed that we didn’t get one, but honestly, no big deal. I’m sure if I would have known about it before hand and mentioned something we would’ve received one.
Overall we had such a relaxing time and I cannot wait until I can return again. Thank you so much LPI for an amazing vacation.

PARADISE PARADISE PARADISE. transport yourself to a whole different world. super romantic, secluded, tranquil, quiet and utterly spectacular. the food is RIDICULOUSLY good. we ate when we weren’t even hungry just to try food. the service is gracious and perfect. they only ask u for your room and that it. no signing checks, no figuring out tip… just sit, eat, drink and continue relaxing. BEST vacation time ever. we will be back many many times!

AMAZING. The ambiance here cannot be beat.
After being ferried over by boat, you reach a floating dock. The dock, lined with tiki torches and dotted with comfortable reclining chairs and umbrellas paves a pathway to the island, which looks like it is from a movie.
Definitely a must-​visit when going down to the keys.

If you can, you should try it once. The Island is one of the most beautiful in the Keys. It is completely unspoiled and only accessible by boat. The food is excellent, and you have the possibility of being joined by a Key deer for dinner. They like to swim over at night. The accommodations are very romantic and secluded. You will be pampered here. I just couldn’t quite get to 5 stars because it is so shockingly expensive.

The island is gorgeous and so calming: no children allowed and no cell phones. If you don’t have your own yacht you can take the island’s 15 – 20 minute boat-​ride to your dinner (or your stay).
After our initial tropical cocktails of watermelon mojitos and mango-​strawberry rum smoothies, the key deer began to come out. At first they are cute but they were on a mission to lick all of the salt shakers on the island. They would not take no for an answer. Cute… but pushy… knocking glasses and anything else over in their path they did not care about anything but the SALT! The evening was filled with kobe beef sliders, bottles of Sancerre, lobster risotto, and saffron cheesecake (on my part at least!). As the night went on and the sun set, the tiki torches and candles were the only light sources.
As the night came to a close, the cocktails and wine made for terribly blurry photographs. I was forced to put my camera away and enjoy the warmth of the fire pit on the beach and the soothing sounds of the pianist, guitarist, and vocalist before laying on the dock on the plush foam chairs staring at the stars.

Beautiful but super expensive. I came here for a wedding in May. It’s located on Little Torch Key about 30 minutes east of Key West. You actually drive to Little Torch Key and then take a ferry which arrives once an hour at :30.
They provide things like snorkeling experiences but at about twice the cost of everywhere else. Their rooms are ridiculous, up to $ 1000/​night. It’s nice, but not THAT nice. Very cute, has a lot of palm trees indeed.

AMAZING!
Little Palm Island is the perfect retreat if you are looking to get away from everything! This is not the place to be rowdy, dance by the pool or practice your cannonballs. This is where you come to disconnect from the world. Because of the cost and privacy provided, this is also a popular place to see a celebrity (or two).
We drove up to the Welcome Center (MM 28.5) to check in. There we were welcomed with mimosas while we waited for our boat shuttle to arrive.
Once ready, we took the beautiful TRUMAN into the island. It took about 15 minutes. Just like that, WELCOME TO PARADISE.
We were escorted to our very own hut. Each one stands alone as your very own private hideaway. Outside of the huts, there is a sign with scrabble-​like letters with your last name on it. You are encouraged to play a game with them and come up with your very own name for the tiki using only the letters of your last name. Cute! There is no TV in the huts and the only telephone is on the wall, by the back door of the hut. Clearly, not meant to be used on a regular basis. There is a game room which houses the one TV as well as books and games available for your use.
There is a pool and spa on premises. Like I mentioned, it’s a very relaxed ambiance. We basically just lounged and ate all weekend long. There were complimentary water toys available for our us, including a small boat we took for a ride on the island outskirts, through the nearby mangroves. There (and through the island all weekend) we saw several Key deer.
All of the food was excellent and the Sunday brunch in particular was incredible. Weather permitting, you are able to dine day and night within steps from the shore. It’s spectacular! There is nowhere to be when that sun begins to set. A dream!
Here are the only negatives (and they could be big ones depending on your expectations):
The actual «beach» is not what you’d expect in the caribbean. No crystal blues and sandy beaches here. In fact, there is not much of those found anywhere in the Florida Keys and something that often surprises tourists. I know this being a South Florida local, so it wasn’t a surprise to me. I still found the beach area relaxing and appealing. Although it’s more conducive to water activities than bathing, it’s perhaps the better beach area anywhere in the keys.
Depending on when you go, you could encounter no-​see-​ums (sp?) and there’s nothing loving about them. These little annoying flies get you and there isn’t much you can do about it. Bug spray can help, but not always. I was there during November and they happened to be very bad around sunset time, by the dock.
That said, Little Palm Island is, in my eyes, a bucket list item. A must-​do. I would do it again in a heartbeat, especially as a romantic getaway.
