I was in a bind trying to find Bike Dry Lube for my chain in this area, to the point I was going to order online from Wal-​Mart, but unexpectedly right next door is Bike Source. They took over the old Christy Sports. Additionally, I was having a rear brake issue, to the point I just disconnected it, but the bike mechanic did a great job of fixing my issue on the spot, and he told me it was a simple fix. Go figure, but I really appreciated him helping me out, and ended up getting a better deal on 4 oz of chain oil, instead of the 2 oz I was going to get without the shipping wait. I’m happy to say my bike is working better then ever. I recommend here, compared to my only other bike tech in the area at Sports Authority, where he makes me wait 72 hours even for a simple fix. Bike Source is a much better solution, and any more issues or parts I need, I will be coming back here for sure! Great job Bike Mechanic!

I must say that I am disappointed with my experience at Bike Source.
My wife and I are new to town. My wife had recently gotten a new bike and I had a question about her rear campy dérailleur. It was new but it seemed crooked to me. I did the normal things at home (ie made sure the wheel was seated in the dropouts and pulled the rear der and confirmed that the hanger was straight with a hanger tool). But the dérailleur still looked crooked to me.
I called and explained the issue to Dan, the service manager. I said that I just needed someone who had more experience with campy to look at it and let me know if it looked out of alignment. He said to bring the bike in.
I brought the bike in and met up with Dan. Long story short, he said that he wouldn’t be able to tell me if the dérailleur looked crooked unless he pulled the dérailleur and confirmed that the hanger was straight, which cost $ 20. I said that all I needed was his opinion as to whether the dérailleur appeared normal. He said he was not able to simply look at the dérailleur and tell me if it appeared normal. I was pretty surprised at that. But, what could I do? He did let me look at his personal bike that had a campy rear der mounted on it, which helped. But, seriously, when did we get to the point that you can’t just use your eyeballs to look at the bike and see if anything appears unusual. I wasn’t asking him to fix anything or tell me if there were any functional problems. I just wanted to know what his thoughts were from a visual inspection. That’s all I wanted and he wouldn’t do it unless I paid him to check the hanger.
The other thing that I thought was weird was that he never seemed to make eye contact when he talked to me.

Maybe I just have bad luck, or I don’t know what but I’ve been to this shop a lot of times to either look at new bikes or I’m in need of a part for my current bike. I have a Yeti and since Bike Source is a retailer for Yeti, I figure they’d have just about anything a Yeti might need. Once out of the many times I’ve been in there, I talked to a guy in service who was knowledgeable and didn’t make me feel like I was on a used car lot. I thanked that guy repeatedly and hoped that would be the type of interaction I would have with them going forward. Not so. I was there this weekend just to buy some replacement spokes so I could replace one that broke, and be ready for the next one that breaks. Right away this guy starts laying the ground work to rack up my fees! «Well, I’ll need to take that wheel apart completely and make sure there’s nothing else going on and measure the spoke to insure you get the right size.» I said «What?!! That sounds costly?». He said «Well, not too much». First of all, I can match another spoke to the existing ones without dismantling the entire wheel — pulling the disc rotor, removing the tire as he described to me. Hell, I replace spokes without taking ANYTHING off but the wheel from the bike! My broken spoke was on the front wheel and opposite the disc rotor. Takes me 5 min or less to replace one in that location. So, I felt immediately that I was being worked. When it was apparent I was walking out, he said «well I could try eyeballing it but I can’t guarantee it will fit without taking the wheel apart». I bought 5 spokes, which came out to a little over $ 8. Never mind that it costs about a nickel to make a spoke and you could add another nickel for distribution costs MAYBE, but all the shops are trying to push the cost of spokes to $ 2 now, so you can’t avoid that. It’s a razor blade business for them.
Anyway, I get home still a little agitated and go to install the spoke before riding. Guess what? It didn’t fit. OMG! How hard is it to put a new spoke up to an old one to see if it’s the same length and insert it into the empty nipple where the broken spoke was to insure it screws in??? I do it all the time! I went to Mojo Wheels a day later. Low and behold! They put the new spoke in for me in 5 min, no charge, AND didn’t have to take the wheel apart! I bought 5 extra spokes from them and will return the ones I got at Bike Source ASAP. I really hate being worked like I’m buying a used car. I guess I learned a lesson. Mojo is a little farther away for me but obviously it’s worth it.

Bike Source is Great. My bike should have been ready today, so I could ride this weekend. But a shipping error meant that might not come true. They took the parts I needed off a bike on the floor, and I’m enjoying some sweet single track this weekend!

I have been researching bikes and decided on a specialized bike. Since this was the closest specialized store to my house I decided to go there. I found the bike I wanted. The guy that helped me out didn’t know the first thing about bikes or sizing. After talking to another lbs I was able to determine the correct size for me. I decided to get the next level up on the bike which was a little more in price. It was in stock but not built yet. They said they would have it built the next day. I paid for the bike up front. The next day and I’m still waiting for the bike to be built. And they keep saying they will call me when the bike is done but I have yet to receive a call. After repeated calls to the store they said they will get right on it. We will see about that. Anxious and still waiting

We recently visited Bike Source to demo a bike. The customer service we received was great. The man that helped us was very knowledgeable and really briefed us the bikes we were interested. The space is massive, clean and well very organized. The bike selection was great as well. It’s great that their bike demo fee is for three days. That’s very generous considering that’s is more than I have had at other bike shops when I had a demo.
Not sure if we will buy our bike there yet but certainly a consideration.

Great shop. Took my stumpy 29’er here a few days b/​c I couldn’t get to my tools. New pedals are installed and it cost me 5 bucks lol. Good guys there and lots of knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend their store and Specialized in general.

WOW! These guys rock! Their selection of bikes is great. We went to 5 other stores before we arrived here. When we walked in, we knew this was the place where we would be buying a bike. Fantastic customer service. We have an 11 year old missing his right hand. Everyone at the Bike Source really went out of their way to set him up with the PERFECT bike. They moved all the components to the left side (all gear settings and all breaks) and made sure the right side handlebar could accommodate his limb difference. They did all this in an hour so my son could take the bike home the same day! They treated my son as a regular customer, like they do this every day. I am sooo impressed. Will continue to go to them for all our biking needs.

No stars for this bike shop. After quoting $ 350 for a repair, the bill at pick up was $ 634. And did anyone call to give a heads up that the cost would be higher? Not once. Even purchasing parts directly from the store won’t get you an installation discount. And does it matter that you’ve been a loyal customer? Don’t count on it. Shame on you, Bike Source!

Women shop here!
Bike Source sells Specialized which has great products for women. Their sales staff has been very helpful with an exception or two. But overall… great service and products that actually work for a small frame, hands, etc. There are a few clothes items that I would by elsewhere but a great place to start.

These guys are top notch on customer service. I bought a Specialized Tarmac kind of on a whim. They told me up front they would price match. While they were prepping the bike for a test ride, I called around and found it little cheaper. They matched it no problem and still gave me another $ 100 in store credit. New pedals anyone?
I took the bike home and and waited until the next day for a first ride. As I was unloading the bike I saw two very small «scratches». Wasn’t that big of a deal so we had a nice first ride. Went back to Bike Source for a final fitting. Greg had been helping me through the whole purchasing process and is very knowledgeable. I asked him to look at the «scratches» and reassure me they weren’t cracks (carbon frame). He wheeled it to the back and they took photos and notes. They said they were pretty sure they were just scratches, but wanted Specialized to evaluate it. The next day even before they opened I received a call. Specialized said from the photos they couldn’t rule out cracks so if I wanted a new upgraded frame they would replace it. SOLD!
Within 3 days I was on a new replacement. The upgraded frame was almost the same price as what I paid for the whole bike. Bottom line Bike Source and Specialized stepped up to take care of me with me having to press the issue at all. They have a customer that will return frequently.

Wheel and I have been in and out of this location several times, ogling new bikes every time. The guys here are all really knowledgable without seeming too uppity, which I like. I also like that they perfectly walk the line between ignoring you and following you around like puppy dogs. Several months ago when we were in right after their opening, one of the guys made sure to tell us about a demo day at Deer Creek Canyon. We weren’t able to make it over come demo day, but it was nice of him to tell us about it nonetheless — most other bike shops we’ve been in lately are so hands-​off, they would just let you stumble upon the flyer yourself.
We popped in earlier for another round of ogling, and Wheel got quite a bit of detail on his latest crush. Plus, the guy was kind enough to point out that if we weren’t looking to buy right away, the current crush is likely to go on sale even more as soon as the 2011 models hit the floor. And if, when that sale rolls around, they don’t stock his size, they will be able to get it elsewhere. Deal! Although it doesn’t quite have the feel of my old local bike shop where they know my name, I’m pretty sure we’ll be back to bring the crush home come sale time.
