Indian Hill Music School

Indian Hill Music seems to be the best kept secret of our area! I am an orchestra subscriber and you will not find any music in Boston that is better than the Orchestra of Indian Hill, under the leadership of maestro Bruce Hangen. This all professional orchestra just recently performed Beethoven’s Third Symphony and it blew away not only the audience but also our guest soloist (who plays for the BSO.) I am also an adult student at the school studying jazz piano and my teacher, Pamela Hines, is amazing. She is encouraging, helpful and I always leave my lessons excited to try out the new techniques she has taught me. If you have children (or are an adult) interested in learning a new instrument or taking your abilities to a new level, go visit Indian Hill and learn more. I cannot recommend them more highly.

We’ve brought three kids here for the six year Kindermusik program and love it. Not only is the curriculum top notch for young children, but the teachers are amazing. My oldest (10) now takes guitar lessons here with another phenomenal teacher. Office staff is always helpful and approachable.
Down sides: lessons are more expensive than finding someone on your own, but I don’t worry about quality and you have the chance to «try out» a teacher before committing. We’ve also had some issues with classes/​ensembles cancelled at the last minute due to low sign-​ups. A stronger marketing budget might be nice to minimize that.

This place is amazing. I am an adult piano student at Indian Hill and began taking lessons after about a 12 year hiatus. I was very serious about piano when I was younger and I never thought I would find a teacher or school that truly inspired and excited me as an adult, as so many teachers and programs cater mostly to children.
At Indian Hill, while there are certainly a lot of children taking lessons, there are also many adults and because they are a music school (and not just one teacher who instructs out of their living room), they offer these amazing workshops, master classes, educational programs, and performances that do so much to enhance your playing and fulfill your interest in music. Best of all, the teachers there are extremely accomplished, passionate about music, and a lot of fun. Going to my lesson is truly the highlight of my week. I feel like I am part of a very special community.
When I was younger, I was accepted to college with a full music scholarship, but changed my major because I was nervous about finding a good job. I have always harbored some regret towards this decision, but now that I am at Indian Hill, I feel like I can spend all the time I want learning about music and my performance potential is absolutely unlimited. So this school has truly filled a void in my life — I would highly recommend them to any potential student.
