I thoroughly enjoy the bartenders, and service industry pricing at this fun bar. Wi-​Fi is available, smoking outside, and it’s two stories on the
favorite is Diane, her marvel shirts and spunky personality always bring a smile to my face.

It had been over a year since my last negative experience so i gave them another chance. We stopped by and ordered 2 cheese burgers why we played pool. After 15 minutes i asked the waitress to check on the burger, she never came back. Another 5 minutes asked for an up date and was told they didn’t know what happened but it’ll be ready shortly. Now we are at 30 minutes with only 10 patrons, all of whom seem to be drinking only, and no burgers. i ask for a refund and the manager comes over, doesn’t ask whats wrong or offer an explanation, he just hands me a receipt for my refund and walks away! I will never be a customer here again!

This location seems to have a bartender with sticky fingers. A good friend of mine went into the bar last night, and gave a bartender a $ 50.00 for a $ 6.00 drink. The bartender gave him back change for a $ 20.00. When my friend talked to the very young and inept manager, the manager had the bartender check his drawer again. Magically, there was no $ 50.00 bill in the drawer. My friend had just gone to the bank, so he knew that he was only carrying $ 50 dollar bills. He did not want to get into a debate with these people, because they could call the police and say that he was being argumentative in a bar.
if the employees at Hooligan’s want to cheat, steal or lie, then people have a right to know by reading this review!!!

This used to be a great bar. Not so much now. Limited draft beer selection, but i can live with that. Ordered some food and it went down hill from there. The «cook» didnt wash his hands before touching our food initially, but whatever. The fryer will kill the booger germs. But after they were done cooking, he touched the food again. Not pleased at all and the manager wasnt help. He told us the blue cheese was portioned way before we got there. I would agree on account it was already separating. We wont be back.
***update***went again for new years eve and upon telling the bartender that one (of our three) beers was skunky, she replied «dos xx is always skunky. What do you want me to do about it?» Never going back. Is there an option for no stars?

San Antonio has to be the only «major» city that shows the home state NFL team on the smallest TV in the darkest corner in a «sports bar.» I had to hunt for the Texans game in Texas. And the TV is so small I can berely see the score

Lets start by saying this bar is fun when something is going on like a fight on ppv or live band etc. But seriously guys put in a better ventilation system, the smoke is so thick you can cut it with a knife!!! More people would go if not so much SMOKE!!!

Mother of black out locations if you’re anywhere else you need to assess some shit. This place has gigantic club dive venue written all over it. The name isn’t just some whack title, it’s a fucking philosophy. On any given night you can see some great acts in Texas country to journey cover bands… Oh and did I mention they host shit like midget wrestling and tonyc jam? Yeah, it’s a shit show.
Every day they have service industry night prices (2 dollar domestic beers 2 dollar well drinks 3 dollar jack crown fireball starfuckers and tuaca shots. Gtfo that’s insane. So input that taxi number on speed dial cus you’re gonna need it when you party with us. Oh and any given Wednesday you can see me stumbling around singing 90’s RnB over the karaōke speakers… It might not sound good but when I fall off the stage it makes it worth it.

This place used to have the best burgers in town… years ago. Now the food is decent, and the new non smoking environment is appreciated, but the lack of open seating during ufc fights and non-​existent service is going to keep us from coming back.
If this place is under new management I haven’t noticed many good changes– 3 waitresses for the entire place on an extremely busy night, bartenders that only respond to people that know them, and waiting an hour and a half for bar food doesn’t strike me as much of an improvement.

Garbage. Paid for VIP seating to midget wrestling. Was told there was a meet and greet for the VIP. Get there and they just taped names to 5 chairs… then came and told us we could sit anywhere as it was first come first serve. Midget show was over and they just had everyone get in line for meet and greet regardless. After pic midgets held a bucket to us and said tips for the pic was appreciated. Not even 10 minutes after the show a fight between two females broke out and one smashed a bottle over the other ones head… keep it classy girls… I’m not from the area and this was my first time at hooligans… and my last. Buzz kill.

Bar-​back /​bartender Taylor lost my debit card after taking and holding it for my tab, then leaving. Cynthia the manager was absolutely useless. If you take and keep my debit card, and you don’t say at the least «I understand how you feel.» and try to de-​escalate the situation, and instead focus on my language after you and your staff (I counted) ask me the same questions over 15 times, yeah, you don’t need to be a manager anywhere, though maybe at the counter at McDonald’s… but they might have higher standards. So, Mr. Neal Patel (owner of Hooligan’s), I couldn’t even get your information to complain. Hire better staff bar and lower management staff, keep Russell, and your GM who he said he’d pass the information on to.
The only reason it gets two stars is because of the saving grace of Russell, the security manager, who actually knows how to de-​escalate problems and talk to people like they’re humans. Nice guy, compassionate, understanding. Will not eat, drink, play pool or darts here ever again. And now I’ve made a Unilocal and Google review, I’m going to go ahead and report my business mastercard as stolen.

Not what I was expecting at all. Bar was full of smokers and the food in the «eating area», which was also smoke-​filled, was atrocious. Everything was fried, burger buns were like soggy cardboard, and burgers were inedible. Went straight for the Pepto-​Bismol when I got home, after showering to get rid of the cigarette stench. Large-​screen TVs though and good drink specials. Not anywhere near comparable to a BJs Brewhouse or some of the other sports bars around, but maybe it works for some people.

Non-​existent customer service. When I arrived, the establishment seemed steady, not crazy, plenty of seating open. I sat down at the bar and despite FIVE employees passing by behind the bar, had to flag someone down for a drink. After I finished it I slid the empty glass to the edge of the bar. I made eye contact with not one, not two, but three girls behind the bar and they either ignored me and went on to do something else or continued talking among themselves, while comfortably leaned up against the back of the bar.

High School Reunion 2001! WOOOO!!!
Just playing. HOWEVER, this place reminds me of all the times I’ve come here and ran into high school classmates for mini-​reunions. It makes me remember how I’m OK not being in high school any more.
It’s nice running into old friends and all, but it’s weird when you’ve changed so much and nothing around you including the old friend you’ve run into. It’s kind of like you’re stuck in a time warp.
It’s very odd which sums up this bar.

Nice variety of beers on tap. Happy hour is pretty good for food and drink. Sliders and wings are tasty. This is a bar not a restaurant. It’s dark and smoky but the food and drinks are tasty.

Their $ 4 shots are cool. They have a huge variety! I really like the toasted marshmallow one. On some evenings, they have 50 cent wings. It gets crowded during games, but it’s a nice looking sports bar that’s not horribly expensive. I like that it’s a large place, so there’s plenty of seating, (it’s two stories) and lots of TVs so you can usually see no matter where you sit.
They have happy hours and giveaways, and it’s a fun alternative to a bar with no food.

This is a great establishment if you enjoy listening to live music in the San Antonio area. Their Pizza is good, beer is very affordable, and the atmosphere is great if you want to play poker, darts, or shoot pool…

Some friends invited me here for drinks and I just thought it was a regular bar… until I walked in, had my ID checked, and ordered to pay a cover! I was like what?! Really do I really want to pay cover for a dive? Reason for the charge was because of the UFC fights. I’ve been to many bars airing the fights is free of charge because if your playing it, people will come anyway, and you’ll get money from bar sales. Also I was sitting at the bar and notice one of the bar ladies, had a bottle opener in her shorts, touching her flesh, I don’t think that is sanitary, just saying. I do have to hand it to them for the many tv screens every where you look, good for football season, but you probably not want to go they might charge you to watch the superbowl! LOL

Hooligan’s is one of those places that you go to because you like the band that’s playing there that night (The Spazmatics!!) or when NFL Network is the only one showing the Cowboys game and you have TWC at home. Other than that, shrug. It’s not bad.
Decent drink prices, it’s not in San Antonio so the smoking ban doesn’t apply. Warn your friends of this or expect grumpy people. Plenty of pool tables and seating. The stage is big, well lit and has a solid sound system.
The TV’s and projectors could use an update. Bar upstairs as well and you can view the stage from the balcony. Nice touch.

We were in there for about 30 minutes on a late night. It’s a very spacious place and LOOKS nice — plenty of pool tables, room for live music, dancing, hanging out etc. Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable.
There were *maybe* 30 people the night we were there. It seems that the place can hold a couple of hundred — it is very spacious. For a place that seats a couple of hundred, it was VERY smoky for only 30 people being there.
The only way we will be back is if they make changes with the ventilation or the smoking policy.
Sorry Hooligans — this place definitely has potential, but the smoke is just wayyyyy too much.

Aside from the scary-​looking dive bars slightly off Pat Booker Road, the Lion and Rose in The Forum, and The Ticket Sports Bar, Hooligan’s is the only real straight-​up bar featuring the hip night life that all the young Universal Citians are looking for (or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof).
There’s a bunch of pool tables upstairs, a giant projector downstairs, and miscellaneous sports playing on TVs everywhere you look. I am of the belief that bars should have the right to allow smoking, and Hooligan’s seems to agree. They also offer some live outdoor events, such as UFC fights, outside on a makeshift patio.
Word of advice: make sure your buddy is asking if you want to go to Hooligan’s, and not nearby Hoolihan’s — that one letter can make for a very different night.
