Nice people and good boats. All down stream paddle so not hard for first timers or out of shapers. They meet you at a put in point and you pay for the length of trip you want… by the miles/hour. Suggest planning it out so you know where you may want to stop such as state parks or boat landings etc. along the way. Pack your lunch and drinks. They will pick you and the boats up at the agreed upon spot at the agreed time, but suggest calling them when you pull up. We had a great time in two boats and took good pictures. River was high and fast. Check the weather before you go too.

I just returned from 4 days of kayaking the Suwannee river. Steven, at Canoe Outpost, was my outfitter and I recommend him highly for the following reasons: 1. Knowledgable– Steven knew the river was too low for me to take the trip I had reserved. Getting out and pulling a kayak through low spots can be annoying. Yet, after a day of rain and checking gauge stations he was able to recommend that trip to me for my 4th day. It was terrific. 2. Efficient– Steven hired additional drivers when he had large groups over the weekend so everyone could be shuttled at times convenient for us. This, in spite of a large group making a last minute change in their shuttle time. 3. Reasonable rates– For about $ 50 I received 2 kayaks, and a shuttle for 2 people. The river trip lasted 4.5 hours. 4. Timeliness– Steven made it a point to arrive 30 minutes earlier than my agreed upon takeout time. I greatly appreciated not having to wait for a pick up at the end of my trip especially on the day of rain. 5. Location– Suwannee Canoe Outpost is located at the Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park(restaurant, cabins, camping) just off I-10 and I-275. This is an ideal location on the river and allows you many trip choices including the Withlacoochee river.

Had just arrived a the public boat ramp the other day and the guy driving their van started backing down the ramp as we were coming in off the river. We had a big group(6 canoes/kayaks) and started unloading so that we could move out of the way, but he just kept coming. We had our two family dogs with us, and when he nearly ran over one of the dogs with his trailer, we shouted for him to stop. He jumped out of the van and started an altercation that definitely would have become physical if he hadn’t been heavily outnumbered. He was screaming at us that the dogs needed to be leashed. True enough, but we had just climbed out of our boats, and immediately leashed them once we saved them from his oncoming wheels. This guy was one of the most unpleasant people I’ve ever had to deal with. It really ruined an otherwise nice trip for us. Anyone who acts like this, even to non-customers, should be out of business.

I have used the Canoe Outpost for twelve years to shuttle my clients and for canoe rental. In those dozen years the Outpost has never been late or rented me bad equipment. Steve, Grahm, and Jerry have spent years guiding and paddling North Florida’s rivers and contain a vast wealth of information on these rivers, their histories, and their secrets. What really stands out to me as a business is the fact that the owner can be reached 24 hours a day, he even puts his personal phone number on his web site and his office phone message. I like being able to talk to the Owner.
