This is a review for the service at this location. I have tried to take the kids there for ice cream 2 times and both times we had a horrible experience. The first time the kids got cones and we were not allowed to sit inside with cones only if ordering sundays even though there was no one sitting at the tables. Tonight I thought we would try again, this time we did order sundays and decided to sit outside, we just began eating our ice cream when they came out and actually took the chairs right out from under us. They said we were lucky that they even served us because they were closing even though the sign said open and the door was wide open. I just cant imagine treating customers so poorly.

Great ice cream. I frequently get the thin mint. Good ice cream right in the middle of downtown.

This is 80 miles away from home, but I’m craving for it right now. Customer service is 10⁄10. Their ice cream and servings are good and plenty! Yum! Our server had some good recommendations. We wanted something fruity and he delivered. We will definitely be back and try other flavors!

Absolute favorite ice cream place ever, the sundaes are just amazing!!! & the candy is old school which I enjoy. I always get the«fudge Ana sundae» Although it’s little pricey it’s well well worth it. Needs to be refurnished tho :) I use to come all the time as a young child & cannot wait to take my children here some day!

Ice cream was excellent. High prices will make us think twice about visiting again. Make sure you take cash, because if its less than 10.00 they charge you a convenience fee to use your debit or credit card.

Not the Loard’s Ice Cream I’ve experienced elsewhere. This place was empty on a Saturday evening. The Jamoca Almond Fudge wasn’t good at all. I’ve had a lot better.

I love Loard’s Ice Cream. Old Fashioned ice cream parlor at it’s best. My son and I enjoyed a yummy cold treat on a hot night! Thanks for being open late!

Came to this location when their First St location wasn’t open during the listed opening time. I haven’t been to Loard’s in years but was so happy we came in today. We ordered a chocolate ice cream sundae and I forgot how awesome Loard’s ice cream is. Cream downtown may have a newer and nicer looking shop, but Loard’s has better tasting ice cream hands down.

I love good ice cream and I don’t need crazy flavors just good cream. I usually get a sundae and I make my own: Rocky Road Ice creek with Marshmallow topping and whipped cream with nuts and cherry. I have gotten that combo twice and Will go back to get it again! This location is 1 block away from the busy part of downtown Livermore so there is plenty of parking. Décor needs updating but there are plenty of places to sit. Wish it was nicer to sit outside though. Come try it so good!

I know it shouldn’t matter, but I like coming to this one more than the other one on first street. For one thing, this one has been around longer, and the store really brings in the nostalgia. It almost has that retro«malt shop» vibe. There is also quite a bit more seating, as well. Loards has many flavors and creations that they can make, although I particularly fancy the green tea ice cream.(Always)

Charming, old-fashioned ice cream shop. Hubby and I just wanted ice cream. No sundaes or frills. I saw they featured Pistachio as their seasonal ice cream so I tried it before ordering. It had a faint flavor of pistachio. I’ve only ever had pistachio as gelato and in comparison, this ice cream was blah. I went with 1 scoop of Rocky Road instead. Boring, right? At least it was better than Pistachio. ;) There’s a sign displayed that they charge 50 cents if you pay with a debit/credit card for transactions under $ 10. Our bill was under $ 7 but we were not charged the extra 50 cents. That earned them an extra star.

Fabulously fresh homemade ice cream! Reminiscent to me of Mexican ice cream places like Guanatos in that you can taste the fresh ingredients without being overwhelmed with sweetness. Their prices are a smidge steep at $ 4-ish for a single scoop in a cup, but that is the price we pay for freshness. I’ve noticed a weird inconsistency — on my first visit, genuinely torn between a few flavors, I asked the employee if they gave samples, and he hesitated before saying every person could have two samples. On my second visit with friends who asked for samples, no such parameters were laid out. Whether the second visit workers just dropped the ball or the original employee was weary of cheapskates just scoring freebies, it was odd. With my two samples I tasted lemon chiffon(decent but lowkey) and strawberry(winner!) — I’m definitely a fan of more simple flavors at artisan ice cream places like this. Along with scoops n’ shakes n’ sundaes, they also have plentiful offerings of candies and sodas, and even dog cookies perfect in this pooch-friendly neighborhood. I peered through the glass doors of a freezer full of pre-packaged quarts for sale to find a variety of flavors like Blueberry Cheesecake, Cherry Vanilla, and the unfortunately named Chocolate Showers. :O Simple and classic — a charming local ice cream parlor, while not loaded with excitement but plentiful with freshness. And $$$.

I absolutely love, love this place. They have the best ice cream around town. Other vendors have the same old stuff, by far I go here whenever I’m craving ice cream. The staff is always super friendly, the prices are great, and they load it up on scoops of ice cream. Can’t beat it.

I’ve been going through withdrawals, waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, occasional irritability & noticeable hand tremors, ever since Loard’s closed up shop in San Ramon… Why? The Peanut Crunch Sundae… Haven’t had anything else like it, anywhere… The sundae is built atop a couple of scoops of their signature peanut butter fudge ice cream, generously drizzled with hot fudge, a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkling of their peanut crunch dust & topped off with a cherry… Absolute perfection… Seems simple, though without THEIR killer ingredients,(regardless of where you have this made), it’ll just fall flat… The peanut butter fudge ice cream alone(sans the toppings) is freaking amazing… Pulling up to this particular location, I was already impressed… Had an old time candy store feel with the pink walls, candy-striped booths, cartoony smiley-faced sundaes on the wall & ornamental iron/heart shaped seats(which my wife said were«cute»). Just eating in-house made the overall experience«that much more enjoyable»… Though we arrived just before closing(around 8:10PM on a Friday), we were STILL greeted with a smile from the initial order placement, along with a genuine follow-up smile & Thank You when the ice cream was dropped off at the table… Really got the impression that everyone in the store enjoyed doing what they do… Not something you get all the time, though these type of things make a HUGE, noticeable difference… Yes, we have another Loard’s in Alamo(which I haven’t yet visited), though I was truly impressed with the overall experience at the Livermore location. The neighborhood itself was reminiscent to areas surrounding Jack London Square & I loved the feeling of stepping back in time as I walked through the doors(not to mention briefly feeling like a kid again). We shall return…

Had a mad craving for some ice cream while strolling through downtown Livermore and decided to check this place out. There was only one girl working on a Saturday afternoon. After excitedly sampling one delicious flavor, I saw another one I had to try. But when I asked to try it, she said that we were only allowed one sample each… Really?! Well okay… It’s a good thing that the one and only flavor I got to try was the one I was planning on getting anyways. Completely baffled by this policy, especially since this is the first time that I’ve ever heard of a «one taste only» policy. And to top it off, you get charged the extra fee to use a card. I was not impressed by the business aspect after my visit. However, the ice cream was very delicious. Such a shame.

Loard’s was the place we would go as a kid for a special treat. As such, I’ve always had good memories and thoughts about it. This location is no exception. They have the same old fashioned look with pink and white décor and table service. They still serve sundaes in glass sundae dishes which many other Loards locations do not. They also have the candies and other fun stuff that make it a special place to visit. The ice cream and hot fudge are perfect. So many flavors to choose from that you can list everything in a review. Staff is friendly and helpful for eating there or getting items to go. Another local business that is a gem for the community. Just go. Indulge. Enjoy.

If you’re looking for a super old-fashioned ice cream shop in this area then this is the place to stop in. They have a TON of flavors on their menu. I had the Toasted Almond flavor in a big waffle cone. Amazing vanilla ice cream flavor and almonds had the right amount of nuttiness. I liked how cute the seating was here as well. Seriously looked like an ice cream shop from the 50’s. I’d give this place 5 stars if the guy behind the counter was a bit friendlier. He had no smile on his face when we walked in and he seemed to want to rush us to order even though there was literally no one there besides our group. You work at store filled with SUGAR dude, you should be smiling ALWAYS!

Took the DGD’s for their sundaes… they were thrilled. The 3 year old was so in awe of hers, she didn’t want to eat it. She announced it was *butiful* We will be back soon, because now the ice cream story has a new *one to top*!!
