History
Established in 2009.
Mindful Movements was created by Nicky Handlin in 2009. It started as a small studio with four reformers, a chair and a cadillac. A one man operation offering a few reformer classes and private Pilates sessions a week.
In September of 2012, we moved to a 5,500 sq foot old historic building in downtown livermore where we now have three different rooms for class, small group reformer, chair and a larger group class room where we offer Mat Pilates, TRX Suspension Training, Yoga, Pilates Circuit (TRX and Mat Pilates), and Zumba, as well as private appointments.

After achieving her B.S. in Kinesiology in 2002, Nicky moved to South Lake Tahoe and began her practice with Pilates in 2003. She obtained a Pilates Mat and Reformer certification from The Pilates Coach in Reno, NV with Leslee Bender. Since then, she moved back to the Bay Area and managed corporate fitness centers while still personal training and teaching Pilates. Pilates became her core focus, as it has proved to be the most effective, healthy, and fun way to workout that Nicky has experienced for herself and clients over the years. To continue her education with Pilates, she completed a 500 hour comprehensive Pilates certification with Body Arts and Science Institute. In the last year, Nicky has experienced her first pregnancy and labor, which exaggerated her belief and love for Pilates. Through her first hand experiences and extensive education, Nicky is highly qualified to help you achieve a healthy and balanced body, while bringing you to the next level of fitness.
