Pristine Pools Complete Pool Maintenance & Repair

We called Pristine Pools to help us upgrade some pool equipment in a newly purchased home. Matt came by the house to look at the pool. He inspected the water quality, and he explained all of the tests. He was very knowledgable about pool chemistry, but also local water conditions affected by drought (e.g., calcium hardness). Matt explained things in a straightforward, non-​condescending way that I very much appreciated.
Matt gave us a competitive quote for equipment upgrades, but we ultimately used a different contractor only because of the timing (Pristine Pools could not make the repairs for a couple of weeks).
There were no hard feelings after our decision to use someone else, and that also speaks highly of this company. They are a good local company run by a competent group of folks — call them and see what they have to say.

I moved into a new home in Livermore with a pool that was green. I tried to shock the pool but the green came back. Matt and his team helped me to get the swimming pool ‘caribbean blue’ and beautiful! Matt certainly knows his trade and explained thoroughly some recommendations for improvements. Improvements were made and our pool system works more efficiently. I clean the pool and Pristine Pools does the chemicals and all is great! I highly recommend Pristine Pools for service and repair.

We have just purchased a new home with a distressed pool, and Matt not only went out to look at it within 24 hours after contacting him, but he was thorough, knowledgable, and most importantly, sensitive to our financial needs. We are trying to do a lot of the work ourselves, as most of our money has gone to our house purchase. Matt did not try to up-​sell us on anything we don’t need, and even better; he gave us a few suggestions to save money (rebates on products we need, suggestions on what we can do ourselves)! I love that. Looking forward to entrusting this company with all of our future pool services.

As some other reviews have mentioned, Matt is a very nice and compelling guy. Makes the sale! Sadly, the follow-​up work is far from satisfactory.
At Matt’s suggestion, we drained our pool, pressure washed the walls and refilled the pool with water. Should be the perfect starting point, right? Shockingly, in 6 weeks the water was green with algae. It was obvious that the chemical balance was improperly set. Then came the other surprise: nearly $ 100 worth of chemicals that I didn’t even hear about, let alone approve, until my month-​end statement. That was enough for me, we’ve parted company.
This was a terrible experience, and seeing some of the other reviews here, I am not alone. If only I had checked them out here before I hired them. Sigh. What’s the phrase? «Too soon old and too late smart.»

Called to have my pool/​spa heater tuned-​up. Spoke to Matt. Very nice and knowledgeable. Happen to have a job in my neighborhood the next day. Came home from work to find the heater had been tuned-​up and cleaned out as promised. Working great. Matt spoke to me over the phone about the service provided and I payed over the phone. One thing to note: Matt mentioned that my current PG&E meter was too small for my pool heater. I have a standard gas meter on my home. Because of this, my heater is not running at peak efficiency. He informed me to call PG&E and schedule a free service to upgrade my meter (which I just did = simple). Never knew this or thought of it. Thanks for the info Matt and great service. Highly recommend.

Very impressed with Pristine Pools! I can tell the owner, Matt, is very knowledgeable and takes pride in doing the job right .
We purchased our home this summer and even before we finished the purchase we can tell the pool equipment would need to be replaced. I called Matt and he came out and gave me a couple of options on what I could do. We had them replace the pool computer and some other parts this week and everything works beautifully! I’m so happy we now have a fully functional system that keeps the pool clean and the waterfall working properly!
Matt and his team came out when they said they would and spent extra time explaining everything to me. I am very happy with the work they did and plan to call them again soon with a couple of upgrades I want to do. I also plan to have them maintain my pool going forward. I highly recommend Pristine Pools.

Matt and his team are amazing!!! They have great customer service and their name says it all. They do pristine work in every aspect of pool service. Their service men are friendly and knowledgeable. Matt is a great owner. He tries his best to help make sure that my pool is perfect and that I am happy with the service. I have been satisfied customer for over 3 years now, and I will NEVER get my pool serviced from anyone else.

We used Pristine Pools to clean and update our outside water feature that had gone dormant. Matt installed a new pump that is variable speed, had our tile cleaned «pristine», and set the system back in motion. Additionally, he recommended some fairly safe chemicals that I could use to clean the sconce. He reinstalled the sconce for me and the system has been working great for nearly 2 years. Super professional and friendly, and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend you consider Pristine Pools for the servicing of your pool.

Beware, of the 5 stars! Matt the owner is very knowledgeable about pool chemistry and can and will talk your ear off about it. This at first is very persuading, persuading enough to hire them as our pool service company. However, over the past year, especially the last few months and they have added fees to our monthly bill that were NEVER agreed upon and: or confirmed. First being I had asked if they would be available the following week if needed to check and see if I installed our new pool sweeper correctly. He stated he didn’t have an available time at the moment and would get back to me to CONFIRM a time and date. He also wanted $ 160 to «calibrate» to pool sweeper. I never confirmed a time with him and never confirmed that I needed a calibration done; he showed up unannounced and performed the work without approval and charged us. The next thing we noticed was that he raised his monthly service fee $ 10 without notice, sneaky. The straw that broke the camels back was that I had the water tested from a NPC certified pool technician and the levels were extremely out of normal range. So much so I now have to drain my pool because the calcium level is 675ppm and the range should be 200−400ppm. The only way to fix this now, because the chemistry of the pool was not correctly done, or it was done and he did nothing to fix it. The levels were as such:
Chlorine 5.0. Ideal range (1.0−3.0)
pH 7.8 ideal range (7.2−7.6)
Alkalinity 150ppm ideal range (80 – 120)
Calcium 675ppm ideal range (200 – 400)
Cyanuric acid 150 ideal range (30 – 50)
As you can see this is not close to service and down right negligible. I asked for them to drain my pool ¾ as needed to dilute the water because of the calcium levels and also pay to refill it and of course he went on about all this pool chemistry that I cannot understand and that his obligation was complete. The point is that if they had correctly measured and treated our pool the calcium levels would have NEVER reach a point where I have to drain my pool. I asked him if this is his normal procedure, to let calcium levels and all other levels continue to get so far out of range that the only remedy is to drain the pool? I got no answer. SO FOR ANYONE USING PRISTINE POOLS OR THINKING ABOUT USING PRISTINE POOLS, AVOID!!! I have experienced their service and it is marginal. Yes they received two stars because they showed up every week.
Unfortunately they are like so many other pool service companies, they show up and that’s about it. Find someone else and don’t let the 5 stars fool you!

Haven’t hired them yet as they don’t have any other clients on my service route but — wow– what a professional impression I got based on just my initial phone consult! It was a breath of fresh air considering the nature of my interaction with the previous two «single man show» type of cleaners I’ve used in the past! I just want to be assured someone actually shows up when they say they’re going to and until today I thought «flakiness» must be in the thesaurus next to «pool cleaner» —-
While I probably can’t use this business based on their reviews, organization and professionalism I feel like they are already a better bet than most other pool companies out there!

I cannot talk highly enough about Matt and his staff. Left a message last weekend and they called promptly on Monday. I was told my pool was in good balance by my previous service company. To my surprise it was well off. Matt and his team have done more in one visit that my previous service did in one year. Very professional, prompt and everything you want in terms of customer service. Amazing! Not only did Matt come out asap to unclog our filter, he walked me through what should be done as far as replacing some parts and gave us a great deal on the replacement of the filter, piping, and labor! So happy with the work he did and now our pool looks as good as new!

I echo nearly all of the statements from the previous reviews. Matt and his team are stellar… professional, timely, knowledgeable, consistent, etc. It’s great to see young small business owners doing great things, and doing them the right way.

I just began using Matt and the team at Pristine as my pool guy was not very knowledgable about troubleshooting problems and repairs. Well if you want an intelligent, professional, courteous AND affordable pool guy, Matt Vieira is your man. He diagnosed a problem with the circuit board of our Aqualink control system and replaced it quickly and for a reasonable price. He also noticed that our 20 year old pump was inefficient and suggested replacing it with a new, more-​efficient model that will save us about $ 1,000 a year in energy costs. We can also now tell our pool equipment what to do (turn on hot tub, etc) from our cell phones which is very cool!

Top of the line pool care & customer service. I’ve had a few different pool service company’s over the years & Pristine is above & beyond them all!

EXCELLENT SERVICE its one thing to give 5 STARS to a taco stand or for a burger… but one it comes to a $ 3,000 home add on its A DIFFERENT Thing !! Matt was Very Professional. I have been having problems with an older Heater. Pristine pools was the only company that tried to FIX it. I had 3 other company’s here last year and all gave up … Saying it was out of their Capability … Don’t let his Youthful Appearance Fool you … I will Happily be recommending PRISTINE POOLS to neighbors and Friends and ENJOYING my now Heated Pool … Thanx Matt and Shawn …

This company is worthless. I only gave it one star because no stars was not a option. I had a variable speed pump installed by Pristine Pools last fall and I paid $ 3,500 for it. Matt never set up the pool solar capabilities because it was almost winter when he explained that you don’t run pool solar to heat your pool. Now it’s spring and I tried turning on the pool solar option and it’s broken already. I called the company and they refuse to come out to even look at it without charging me another $ 100 service fee. I spent over three thousand dollars with your company and you won’t even come out at look at it, really? Go with another company that stands by their recently installed products because this company is complete garbage!

Matt installed a pool pump and filter for me that I purchased separately.
Got his recommendation from a different pool company who was too busy to slot me in.
He was running late the morning of the work, but hey, he actually called to let me know, and hey, he then actually showed up when he said he would. Better than previous no-​shows.
Installed everything per our agreement, kept everything clean and tidy. Explained everything well, so I could understand why he was installing things a certain way.
Great experience.

Never have I seen a pool company that operates as well as Pristine Pools. Matt Vieira and stellar crew definitely know how to get the job done fast and done correctly. As a college student and someone who has enjoyed pools all of their life, I naturally have many questions about water chemistry, filtration, and even how solar heating works. Matt and company can answer my question quickly, intelligently, and in a manner that is easily understandable.
Even if Matt is not the one personally servicing the pool on a weekly basis, rest assured that his crew can handle business. They all have been rigorously trained and educated in the field of pool maintenance as well as the fact that they are loyal, integral, fun, and all-​around great people.
Since signing the deal with Matt, the past eight months have been wonderful and I look forward to continuing a great relationship with Pristine Pools in the future!

When our spa heater broke last year, Matt and Pristine Pools came highly recommended by a neighbor. Since then I’ve been continually impressed by the Pristine team and their quality of work and care. Matt is very professional, quick to respond and answer any questions, and super knowledgeable about pools and pool repair.
Longtime self-​care pool owners, we were hesitant to switch to a professional maintenance service. However, after the excellent repair job and Pristine’s reasonable prices, we gave it a shot.
