The LAST Factory is not a walk-​in shop. We are the manufacturer of LAST products, which we ship to distributors for sales in music and record stores. You can also order our products from our website.

We make preservation and cleaning products for media — magnetic, optical, vinyl records, shellac records, etc.

We also make cleaning and treatment fluids for phonograph styli.

History

Established in 1979.

In 1979 three scientists from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory started the company by pioneering chemistries to preserve vinyl records. Later additional products for the audio industry were designed, tested, and brought to market. These include STYLAST Stylus Treatment, LAST Stylus Cleaner, Record Cleaner, and magnetic media preservative. The company has been in continuous production for 36 years.

Business Owner

Walter Davies has a degree in math and in physics, and worked at Lawrence Livermore Labs in programming and materials testing before starting The LAST Factory. He was instrumental in developing the chemistries for the products, assuring their quality and longevity — both in operation and in the marketplace.
