History

Established in 1985.

The first Uncle Yu’s was opened in 1985, in Lafayette, Ca., which was soon followed by a second in San Ramon. When Uncle Yu’s opened its doors once again in 1990, it offered what was missing in the San Ramon Valley: quality Chinese food in a button down setting. White table clothes and tuxedo-clad waiters made this the spot to celebrate Dad’s promotion or your grandparents’ wedding anniversary.

The Livermore location, opened in 2006, is a collaboration between Jennifer Yu and Uncle Yu’s longtime wine director Nick Liang. Nick is pairing flavors of the East with wines from the West, including Livermore Valley wines.
