Champagne Wine & Liquors

Champagne Wine & Liquors is a small retail liquor store situated immediately adjacent to Wegmans on Taft Road. Selection is very basic although, it meats essential needs. As I noted in my tip, it is fine in a pinch. Prices aren’t out of line but are not the most competitive.
On the two or three occasions I have shopped here, I was able to get last minute gifts which were gift wrapped (or gift-​bagged) and met my needs with ease. Employees are nice. I do not know their depth of product knowledge as I haven’t had the need to seek their advice. Besides, I wouldn’t go here to find a vintage or even a Tawny port for my collection. Again, convenient, basic, and with good service.

I have been a regular customer due to the convenience of their location however, very often they do not keep their supply up of the large bottles of the brand of wine that I prefer. This is annoying in itself but I’ve also experienced bad service from a young woman who presented herself as the owner’s daughter. She was indecisive about accommodating me, argumentative and insulting. Needless to say, I will no longer be doing business with them.

Found myself at this liquor store again during a recent trip to Syracuse and am here to report that beverage selection is still OK and that cleanliness is still a very real issue.
Stopped by to pick up a couple bottles of wine to take to dinner as a hostess gift. It seemed as though every bottle I picked up was sticky and/​or covered in dust; I actually had quite a time finding bottles that were aesthetically gift-​giving quality, and even after I found a couple overpriced winners I had to take a paper towel to the bottles when I got back in the car. I don’t expect liquor stores to be particularly clean, but c’mon.
The woman at the cash register was very pleasant, though I should note that I – not she – was able to assist another individual in the store who had a question regarding a flavored vodka.

This is a convenience store sized liquor store. The selections is slightly limited and the prices average as I’ve seen a lot better prices at other liquor stores while in the US.
However the staff is friendly but you can definitely get better deals and larger selections in other parts of town.

A perfectly fine liquor store next to the greatest grocery store in the world — Wegmans, of course. I don’t know what the previous reviewers problem was, there are plenty of chilled beverages in refrigerated cases, as wide a selection of wines and liquors as one could hope to find in an average store, friendly service. It’s not a liquor supermarket, but they have a fine selection of just about everything, NY State wines, mini-​bottles of wine which are nice to buy for cooking… Wegmans sells ice next door, and plastic cups, someone should have told the previous reviewer who was in such a rush.
