Firearm Exchange Gun Range

Disappointed! I purchased a Groupon package for two people to shoot for one hour. When I called to book the time for my son and I, the staff person asked if he was 21. I responded that he was 19 and going to be shooting with his mother. She stated very firmly that everyone must be 21 to use their rental guns and that the Groupon makes it clear. I responded that I thought the Groupon meant that you had to be 21 to purchase. She said I could get a refund from Groupon. My son and I have shot at other ranges and never encountered this problem. Sad!

I have to give kudos to this place. We have been here before and enjoyed it. We know the rules and everone is so nice. I had an incident where my thumb jammed and because of the pain did not realize I had turned around slightly away from the correct position. I appreciate the range operator was on such good watch he had me ejected from the place. He knew I did not do it on purpose, but he followed the rules and although I did not mean to break them. I appreciate he was watching everyone so closely.

I just retired and wanted to get back into shooting now the kids are grown and my wife is looking for reasons to get me out of the house. My buddy and I went to Firearm Exchange based on a Groupon he had, and the great online ratings. I must say we left very satisfied with our experience. They provided rental guns, ammunition, targets and ear /​eye protection. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facility is clean, uncluttered with plenty of room. Plenty of opportunity to browse their merchandise or just relax on the couch enjoying a free cup of coffee. I recommend this indoor range and will certainly make it my go-​to shooting range!

The service here would probably bring it down to a 3 star but the facility does make up for it if you can just tune out the staff and focus on why you’re there prices are a little bit above normal but seem to be offsetting the cost of the range in the biggest thing to remember is this is a range only the owner is not allowed to sell firearms only rent the lines are very clean and have multiple training scenarios they can run computerized along with sound and lights the seating is very comfortable with leather couches while you wait and a dedicated area for cleaning your weapons when you are done shooting again this is only on the range if you can tune out the staff the employees are nonchalant and unless you engage them definitely not eager to service you but if you just want to shoot and brush up on your skills it’s not bad if center mass is busy

A few weeks ago I went by to shoot and I learned that they were closed due to a fire they had. I could not see any information about when they expect to reopen.
I have about three hours of unused range time on a discount punch card I purchased for $ 50 and I have no idea if I’ll get to use it again.

Came to the Firearm Exchange with a Groupon and couldn’t have left happier. This was my first and so far only indoor gun range I’ve been too. I’ve shot at the Sportsman’s club outdoors since a young boy, but never indoor with targets and a trap. Everything was explained in clear detail, and I felt safe with a range operator always on the watch. The target system that runs back and forth was user friendly, and I had no issues.
I’ll be back again taht’s for sure.

Been to this range several times and is one of my preferred ranges in the area. Staff is pretty nice, good range prices.
Like their target system where you can punch in exactly how far you want it to go out instead of looking at lines on the ground/​wall like other ranges and getting it sorta close.
Cons :
Only 8 lanes — If you go on weekend be prepared to wait a lil bit
New Floor Coloring — Hard to see your spent brass… even when it’s right in front of you, kind of an issue if you’re a reloader and keep your brass.

Not impressed. «Clerk» spent more time talking to his buddy than welcoming me and assisting me with purchase. Hard to buy anything there as everything is tied to use of the range. Typical arrogant and unhelpful attitude. Good Galco selection. More of a club than a store or range.

Made my first visit yesterday. Found the facility clean and organized, the staff courteous and friendly. The range was busy, but well managed, and I did appreciate the presence of a safety officer.
Even better– they had stocks of ammo, reasonably priced. The gear is kinda high priced, like most of the retail in the area.

not bad. its a decent range with pretty good pricing and you can bring in your own ammo. you do have to fill out an overly long waiver but other than that its fine. its a range plain and simple and thats about all it is. there are much better ones depending on where you live or how far you are willing to drive

This place is not bad. Came with the groupon the week before it expired without reservations, and didn’t have to wait too long for a spot on the range.
When I was shooting, there were some pretty loud shots fired. I looked over and I think a guy was shooting with a rifle, so you know it’s not pistol-​only.
They have a fancy set up for target distancing, where you punch in the number of feet you want the target away.
The safety officers are behind a window and will use this intercom thing to warn people not to load their guns away from their booth or things like that.
They have a large selection of clothing and other gear.
My lady friend tells me that the women’s bathroom awkwardly located — she had to walk through a door that led to a classroom full of people learning about guns in order to maneuver over there.
The men’s bathroom had this fancy walnut gritty soap with which to wash your hands.
The owner has some photos with famous people up, like Lions players.

Great place. Decent range. Great people. Good selection of T-​shirts etc.

It is what it is. A range.
You go, you pay, you shoot you leave. I have been there a several times and never had any issues with the lanes. All were in good working order.
Retail prices are crazy high on gear.
They do have a decent selection of retail goods, however. You would still be better off shopping on the internet and use the savings for range time/​ammo :)

Too far away from the Woodward corridor for me to visit regularly, but a wonderful range nonetheless.
I’ve purchased several guns from them over the years, usually when they’re at one of the various gun shows– the same gentlemen and ladies at those shows are often staffing this location, and they’re quick to talk to you and help you with accuracy issues and recommendations on sizing and brand suitable for your purposes. As a gun seller, they are top notch.
1.) Ventilation: above average ventilation, second only to Action Impact.
2.) Functionality: handguns only, special interest shooting include pie tin targets. They use the MANCOM target system– a very fancy pants way of getting your target out to the desired position.
3.) Capacity: their 8 lanes get full quickly. I anticipate at least a 15 minute wait every time I go. Plenty of parking. Open until 9pm!
4.) Staff: not the best range staff, as they seem more in the market of selling their guns (that was their primary business for years, after all). Very courteous if they know you, and especially if you’re in the market to purchase or have purchased from them.
5.) Value: slightly above average
This is another range that makes you fill out a form before shooting (unlike the old school establishments that’ve been around forever). Even though I hate filling out paperwork, I appreciate that it ensures the other shooters around me have at least reviewed the rules of the range, even if they’re not completely schooled on them.
A female perspective:
They are exceptionally friendly and respectful towards gun owning women; they are leery of renting out a high caliber gun to women who don’t own a gun of a caliber over 9 mm.
I bought my first HK from them when they were at the Mount Clemens gun show– they encouraged me to reconsider a .40 and opt for a 9 mm. If I was an inexperienced shooter, that would have been a valid recommendation; however, I already had my CPL and was carrying a .357 on a daily basis. After I explained the staff member apologized profusely and applauded my decision– still, if you’re a woman or have a smaller frame, be aware that they may encourage you to select a smaller caliber than you were interested in. Make sure you test drive various calibers and models before purchasing and shop confidently.
