Matthew James Photographers was founded in March of 2010, and we have been photographing weddings for 6 years. Our business is based out of our home in Lodi, CA. We photograph couples primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area but will travel anywhere in the world for a wedding!

Hi! My name’s Matt, and my wife Dannie and I have been photographing weddings together for six years. We learned together, we continue to grow together, and we are lucky to work together and do something we love! Photography has taken us to some interesting places, and allowed us to meet some real characters! Each wedding, each photo shoot, is unique, and connecting with our clients is what makes our job truly amazing.

We love travel and the beach. We love cities. We love (need?) coffee, especially Philz. We love our friends. Most of all we love our daughter, she’s an incredible young person!

Thats part of who we are… we want to photograph you being who you are!

MJP photographed mine and my wife wedding over the summer, as well as some engagement photos. We looked and spoke to countless number of photographers in the area. near and far. We found something about the both of them that made us chose them right away, and we could not have made a better decision. They are the nicest, friendliest, while professional photographers and people I have ever been around. They are so detail oriented and made us feel very comfortable when it comes to taking photos. They made us laugh so much and really helped the structure of our wedding. All the photos are absolutely amazing and we are so fortunate to have chosen them to shoot our big day! Matt and Dannie are an incredible team! We worked with them for both our engagement pictures and our wedding. We are so incredibly happy with all of the pictures we have received from both events! Matt and Dannie did an amazing job of capturing the natural moments between my husband and I and our friends and family.
When we started thinking about the feel of our photos, my husband and I agreed, we really wanted them to have a natural, not too posed or over-​exposed feel. When we found Matt & Dannie, we knew we had struck gold!

Matt and Dannie were absolutely amazing to work with! We hired them for our wedding and decided to do an engagement session which was a great trial run. They were so easy and comfortable to work with and they let us be ourselves with just enough guidance to get some great photos. We were able to use some photos from our engagement session for our save the dates and wedding website and loved all the moments they captured at our wedding. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a more naturally beautiful photo session.

Matt and Dannie photographed both our engagement session and our wedding. They were amazing right from the beginning. As soon as we met them we knew they were down to earth, and that we could be natural and comfortable in their presence. They were always flexible and easy to get a hold of, and really listened to what we wanted.
The photographs are stunning (confirmed by friends, family, coworkers, and strangers!). They really captured the natural beauty of the venue where we got married, and the personality of all those involved in the wedding. Best of all, I didn’t even really notice they were there and yet they captured all the best moments.
Finally, Dannie came to the rescue and fixed my wedding dress when the bustle broke. Life saver!

I recently hired Matthew James Photographers to shoot my holiday card photos with my husband and my 2 dogs. It was the first time we had done professional photos since our wedding 3 years ago, so we were admittedly rusty. Plus add 2 dogs in the mix! But Matthew was extremely professional, made us feel comfortable, and got some amazing pictures that I know we will cherish. I particularly love his laid-​back style and candid shots.
He was very affordable, and the pictures came in lovely personalized packaging. The turnaround time was about a month (it was their busy season), and initially we were sent different pictures than the ones we selected, but Matt was prompt in sending the right ones the next day.
All in all, a great experience. Would highly recommend for any special occasions or portraiture.

This review is long delayed but I cannot go on another day and not say how awesome Matthew is! I hired Matthew to cover my in laws’ 50th Wedding Anniversary vow renewal and the pictures were just super amazing. Not only that but the final product of the CD he sent us was really pretty as well! Matthew was a joy to work with and he was patient with all of our family! Great Job Matthew!

Let’s just say I will never go anywhere else! To say they’re amazing is an understatement. Not to mention that Matt & Dannie’s baby, Scarlett, is a little chunk of cuteness :) They have never disappointed me & every time they take our pictures they are coming up with new ways to capture my babies & take beautiful portraits of them! EVERYONE that comes across our family portraits wants to know who did them! Not only are they awesome photographers, but awesome people as well :)

I’ve become quite the photography snob after going to them, because i just cant find anyone better than them. The standard has been set so high. They pay attention to detail, listen to suggestions, and are just all around amazing. They have an eye to make an awesome photo and always succeed to take unique pictures. They are not going to give you «standard» pictures, which is what i love. If i wanted that i would just go to picture people or sears. I love them as people and as professionals and i will never go to anyone else.

Our photo’s came out amazing, Dannie and Matt are great, they make you feel very comfortable during the shoot. They listen to your suggestions and put it all together wonderfully. There pictures all have such a romantic warm feeling. The digital copies come on a custom CD, and everything was done in a timely fashion.
They are busy with clients new everyday, so its good to get everything schedule in advance. At a reasonable price, they are an absolute go to for photography.

I was slightly disappointed with the photos we received from Matthew James Photographer. We asked for many candid photos to be taken of the reception, and he delivered on this very well, his photos of our young family members are adorable. Day of I felt like he didn’t listen to or get a feel for us very well, we were obviously and verbally uncomfortable with some of the poses he asked us to do, and ended up with only 2 photos where we are even looking at the camera. His partner Dannie is really nice. There are very few ‘standard’ wedding photos of family members and the bridal party, which initially was fine with me, but the ones that we have are not very impressive, and frankly the standard photos are the ones you hang on to anyway! Post wedding I notified him of our new address to send the photo disc to, he sent it to the wrong one anyway, with the same misspelling of our name that occurred on the proofs– of which I had informed him of.

I wish I could put into words the wonderfulness of Mathews photos.
I will be back to review again when they come out with a new über delicious word that appropriately describes my pleasure at Matt’s talent.
Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy the fabulously playful portraits of me and my teenagers before they crossed the icy line from teenager to TEENAGER!
I shall always have those lovely portraits, so that I may remember those days. Mathew made us all feel so comfortable. I let him be creative and he let me have a few silly poses which I am sure were completely against his artistic nature…

My daughter and I had a photo shoot with Matt. This shoot was the best experience I have had. I was so happy with our photos and I was so excited to show them off. Being a single mom, getting some shots of my daughter and I meant a lot to me since Im usually the one behind the camera taking photos of her and we got a great deal from him. He made both of us feel very comfortable and he was able to capture just how my daughter and I are together all the time… silly!!! I would recommend MJP to my friends and family anytime.
