We specialize in framing memorabilia shadowboxes, stitcheries, mirrors, collage mats, canvas stretching, matting variety, and more. Our motto is… if its not moving we will frame it!

History

Established in 2008.

McKinleys Frame Shop is owned by Julie McKinley. Julie started custom picture framing in 1984. She has managed frame shops throughout the world and has taught framing classes on various Air Forces bases over the years. In 2008, Julie had the dream of a lifetime happen… opening her own frame shop! With the success of this thriving small business, Julie continues to support local artists and local small businesses.

Julie McKinley is the owner and professional custom picture framer with 30 years experience. Julie studied commercial art and interior design in college and has taught framing classes at Air Force bases throughout the world. She is hands on from the beginning design to the final framed product. «From flight jackets and military medals to family portraits and collage matting, I welcome any framing challenge!»

Another project competed by Julie, I am so very happy with. There is no way to get the quality of her craftsmanship. I am so glad the has the professionalism and creativity needed to get the job done. I have tried to do my own framing projects, only for them to fail and look bad. Much better off leaving it to her…

I came to McKinley’s to get my 10×44″ poster framed. The owner was lovely to talk to and very helpful. However, the estimate to frame my small poster was over $ 200. Maybe I am out of touch with costs in the framing business, but this seemed overpriced to me. I ordered a custom frame online and will frame it myself for less than $ 70.

I had met the owner Miss Julie at a wine tasting in Napa. I told her of a recent purchase I made of the SFran Golden gate bridge. she then proceeded to tell me that she owned a frame shop it was destiny. I took here the two pieces, and bip, bam, boom it was done. I was blown away with her attention to detail from the matting to the color of the frame itself. I have a terrific birthday present for my Girlfriend that i adore. I really would love to see more of her work. she rocks. So a Big thank You to Miss Julie for a great Job on my pics that were poster size. I would suggest her for all your frame needs if you even live an hour away like I do.

McKinleys is the only place I will bring any of my framing needs to. Julie, the owner, is amazing and knows how to put it all together with an amazing end product! She’s done multiple projects for both my home and husband’s office and we love everything… very reasonably priced as well. I brought a frame and matting job to her that required matching a previous project she had done for us and she actually kept her notes and was able to match it exactly a year later! You won’t find as personalized a service as you will at McKinleys nor a more creative and professional person to do it.

The owner, Julie, is very accommodating. I work odd hours, and she’d stay late at her shop to talk to me about her processes and what options were available to me for a custom framing job. I’m not talking about staying an extra 15 minutes, she’d stay an hour plus before I’d ever get to Lodi from Sac. Then she’d stay an extra hour discussing options, two in one particular session. This was before I even decided I’d use her shop’s services.
I got a ton of quotes from frame shops in Stockton, Lodi, and Sacramento, and McKinley’s was somewhere in the middle. There are cheaper places or bigger frame shops I could have gone to. After factoring the professionalism and very accommodating nature of Julie, I decided on her place. I’m coming back here for other custom frame jobs.

Just a year ago I had a large poster framed by Julie, It had been sitting for years and had some minor damage to the edges and I wanted it preserved before any other damage could come to it. Julie did such an amazing job we can’t even tell there was damage to it!
Also, Last month I needed a print framed on emergency for a Memorial Service. I called Julie and she had it done and did a beautiful job in less than 24 hours! I will never go anywhere else!

We have been taking our framing needs to McKinleys Frame Shop for two years now after having a hard time being satisfied elsewhere. The Owner, Julie McKinley, is very knowledgable and helpful. The work is wonderful and very timely. The shop also strongly supports the local arts which is important to my wife and I.

This charming shop may be small, but it’s mighty! The owner Julie has a great eye for color and composition, plus she is a joy to work with! A very large selection of frame styles to choose from and tons of mat colors and textures.
As a former picture framer myself, I know that, when it comes to framing and preserving something that is important to you, nothing can beat the options that a creative and experienced framer can imagine for whatever you want to have framed. And that doesn’t mean just what it ends up looking like on the wall, but understanding and using materials so that your item will look as good in 5, 10 or 20 years, and not be yellowing and crumbling.
Besides flat pictures I have seen some really cool shadow boxes at McKinleys containing all kinds of stuff. And maybe it’s just me, but you gotta love an art-​based business with a purple front door!
