On a shopping day with my mother-​in-​law, we visited Christopher & Banks so she could return a blouse. Any visit to a clothing store is an excuse for me to browse too, but it turns out that C&B is too matronly for me. That’s not to say matronly is always a bad thing! She did choose two new blouses that were very flattering and not at all «old lady» territory — although the fact that I chose one of those blouses may have something to do with it.
SOME of the stuff is hideous though. But that’s probably how mature women feel about Forever XXI. If you’re in doubt, bring a younger gal who isn’t afraid to share her opinion with you.
C&B is perfect for women 50−60+ who are looking for comfortable, casual/​business casual wear. The prices are fair — there were several sale racks of $ 15 – 20 items, and I don’t think any of the items she tried on were more than $ 40.
Sizes run average to a bit larger than average. She was adamant that she is a «Large,» but all of those were much too big on her. I encouraged her to try on smaller sizes, and she ended up taking home one top in a «Small»! C&B might be a nice ego boost if you can size down too ;)
I will keep C&B in mind for future gift purchases for her, and maybe for my mom too for more casual tees and tanks — she’s just a bit too young & hip for C&B still.
