Fairfield Inn and Suites

I got the whirlpool suite, and the room is very luxurious. However when I walked in the room reaked of cigarette smoke, even though it’s a nonsmoking hotel. I also found a half eaten slice of chocolate cake that was left in the mini fridge. I guess they don’t clean the room as well as they should.
The room overall was wonderful and comfortable. The TV service wasn’t anything special. The whirlpool itself was clean and very relaxing. They also had a great breakfast in the morning and I made fresh waffles. Overall a really nice hotel room, I just didn’t see a lot of care taken to my specific room. Also, make sure your over 21.

I’ve stayed at quite a few of these «mid-​price» type hotels, no concierge type service, but no seedy place, either. I was quite pleasantly surprised at this one. Not only did they actually heed my request for no feathers (allergic) and extra pillows, but the rooms were nice and very comfortable, and in spite of being in the middle of the ‘burbs, the room had a view of a pond that reminded me of Water Lilies. Quite lovely. There was, unusually, not a sink area separate from the toilet area, but we’ve been spoiled there.
We used the free internet, which performed very well. We took advantage of the free breakfast, and were pleasantly surprised there by the adequate seating (these things tend to be overcrowded) and the duo of waffle makers (many of these only have one, resulting in long, slow moving lines). The little interaction we had with the staff (not much was required) was extremely pleasant, they were very helpful.
The hotel is conveniently located right by the expressway, it only took a few minutes to reach the Woodfield mall area, a little longer to Medieval Times, near a good movie theater (with recliners), etc., so nice area.

Our stay here was comfortable despite other reviews. Maybe we got a renovated room or something because our room was fine. Clean, comfy bed, smelled like a hotel room. They have free breakfast (we didn’t wake up early enough for it). Free wifi. Free parking. The only thing is that to find something something to eat you gotta drive 8+ minutes, nothing closer. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area again.

I don’t normally write a review regarding my stay at any hotel because I usually always enjoy my stay, but this time I just need to voice out my stay because in a way it really hurt me how the front desk treated their guests at the Lombard, IL location.
When we entered the Hotel, we were not greeted by any one right away until I had to peak into the office and I said «hello,» to get her attention. And automatically the front desk agent was rude and not polite.
Our reservation was reserved under my aunt’s name. The front desk agent told me she needed my aunts id and credit card. But I told Dalia (that was the front desk agent’s name) she wasn’t coming until later but insisted on that we needed her id. I wasn’t upset at the time so I told the agent that I will try to get a hold of her. So we waited in the lobby for 10 minutes calling my aunt to try to get her to come to the hotel. During that time, I heard and saw Dalia speaking on the phone in spanish. When I finally got a hold of my aunt on the phone, my aunt wanted to speak to Dalia and after Dalia spoke to my aunt, Dalia said that she really just needed any ID and credit card not my aunt’s. And I told her that she never said that and if she did she could have restated that as Dalia saw me calling to get a hold of my aunt. (Let’s be realistic here, in this day of age, who doesn’t really carry an id and credit card especially when on vacation) but Dalia insisted that she said I needed an ID and credit card. So we kind of went back and forth about it with the «she said and she said» thing. In my honest, opinion this feeling of hurt could have been avoided if the front desk agent was apologetic and polite instead of being rude and kind of arguing with a customer. I feel that during the time I was calling my aunt and Dalia was speaking in spanish on the phone that she was getting clarification to whoever she was speaking to on her mistake of not saying that we could have given our own IDs and not my aunt’s. If she didn’t like «pick a fight with me» I wouldn’t be so hurt. The sad thing is that my church was having an event in the area and were also staying at this hotel and they all said that she was impolite to them when they were checkin.
I typically always pick Marriott as my go to hotel. But this has been a very unpleasant experience. In Des Moise, IA and even in Merriville, IN which are also in smaller cities/​suburbs, my experience in those 2 hotels were amazing! So it can’t be an excused that the Lombard location is in a smaller city so I shouldn’t expect the 4 star treatment like big cities hotel. I feel I could have gotten better treatment at a motel 6 than this location.

Fairly standard hotel. It does have a bar which is nice. I happened to see a group of people get stuck in the elevator. normally i would just say wow that’s bad luck. but i over heard someone say its happened a few times recently. i had to stay again a week later and i had to really think about if i would take the stairs.

Good value for money and does all the basics well and adds no frills. Clean. Staff were okay. Free wifi Internet was handy. Air con unit was noisy, but I turned or off and did not need it. Would have been a problem if I had needed it though.

It’s okay as far as a Fairfield goes. Wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend, though.

I often stay at Marriott’s during my travels. It was my first stay at this location and I enjoyed the experience. It was off the beat and path, not close to eating areas. I would stay at the Courtyard near the mall in the future.

I try to stay with Marriott hotel whenever I am traveling for business or pleasure. This hotel look great from the outside and lobby area also looks good, seems like they remodeled it recently and the staff at the check in are friendly and greet you with smile. Another plus thing is they have a lounge that opens from 4pm to 11pm just serve drinks which is great for single travels to hook up!
However once you are in your room, you kinda step into a totally different world. They didn’t remodel the rooms at all, still got the old looking carpet and beds as far as smell it was not bad for me, maybe i got one of the better rooms. I think its time for this hotel to remodel.

I’m a fan of the actual hotel — it was clean and neat and with spacious rooms. However, if you plan on using their free shuttle service for an event (I had a wedding in the area), and are speaking with Bobbie Jo who runs it, make sure you over-​hammer out your details. It was very difficult to finalize shuttle times with her, and details were not provided to our guests in a timely manner when they checked in, so they didn’t know when the shuttle was. On top of it, my bridal party and myself were the first shuttle to the place ~8 minutes away and the driver had no idea how to get there, where to park, and could not speak English. He was then going to take all of my guests to a place when they couldn’t direct him! Needless to say, I was a bit frustrated at this, but people got there, though most late due to the driver leaving early/​later than on the scheduled times.
Bobbie was great at checking in and providing details, but the management and front desk staff are a mess — they can’t understand English, could not put reservations under our name properly, and continued to tell our guests our block was full, which was not at all the case.
Due to this frustration, I’m losing a star here. If you’re staying for the night and not have to worry about them coordinating anything for you, it’s a great hotel. if you’re relying on them, I’d worry about it.

Okay this place should not have the Marriot name i booked a junior suite i arrived at the front desk i am a rewards member and try to always stay in Marriots.
This hotel was terrible the décor is staright from the 80s neon lights and old the rooms are really old we took one look and and asked to be moved thinking it was just a bad room we moved the next suite was just as bad pocorn ceiling smelled stale old beds. Tube tvs.
You have been warned they had already charged my card when i got the room key.
I asked for a refund they said it would take 7 days the office managers name was Janet i insisted on a refund knowing it would be a problem and it still is she said it was something to do with the merchant bank still battling 1 month later for a refund with customer care.
I had to call customer care at the check in desk to find me a room at the chicago Marriot downtown magnificent mile a proper Marriot and highly reccomended. My girlfriend said we should stay in there friends hotel not a Marriot but im glad we stayed in the chicago downtown magnificent mile Marriot can you imagine trying to get my money back if i had moved to a Hyatt
What did Marriot do for me because of all this inconveniance nothing 5000 bonus miles on my account. I am still fighting to get my money back from Marriot $ 179 dont even think of staying at this place find another hotel thats all i can tell you.

Subtract 3 b/​c: The air was broken in my first room on the second day. A very young and inexperienced clerk moved me to a second room with broken air, a dead night table lamp, and a non working phone. I ended up packing up and carrying my things to the 3^rd room which was in great condition since the only con was it smelled like smoke and the phone wasn’t working. The elevator is beyond hot and humid and besides for everything being broken, the rooms are in need of some upgrades. No manager on duty.
Add 2 b/​c: The second clerk i spoke with was a very polite and understanding middle aged woman. She was pretty cool overall. They have a small bar and a decent continental breakfast.
I’m a marriott rewards gold member and usually stay in the mid category range of hotels. This has so far been my worst experience with marriotts. Since a functional room is mandatory for timely business travel, the cons kill the pros.

This place has been one of the more enjoyable hotels I’ve been in. It isn’t that great in that the rooms are fantastic, but they are roomy, comfortable, and the cable television is decent with channels like ESPN, MTV, HBO, and other channels.
But, I think what makes this hotel enjoyable was the service and the continental breakfast. Now, the continental breakfast isn’t the best, but it was decent enough with a waffle iron (with batter in cups), a juice machine, coffee, options of egg & cheese biscuit or a sausage sandwich, both from Jimmy Dean for microwaving, muffins, toast, eggs, donuts, apples, oranges, and cereal. I’m not sure what’s else. But, those were options instead of just danishes or donuts by themselves.
The service staff there is very friendly and very helpful. Like some other hotels, they have deals with local taxis. One night, I needed a ride to Chicago to meet up with some cousins. The front desk hooked me up with a cab to Chicago for $ 42 one-​way flat rate from Lombard to Chicago, a 39 minute ride. Very awesome. The cabbie was cool and talked about Chicago and some history on it on the way to my destination.
So, the draw backs to this hotel is that it is located outside of Chicago, being in Lombard. Lombard is about 39 minutes away from Chicago and all.
But the location is near the 355 tollway. Its about 15 minutes north of two towns Oak Creek and Hinsdale by route 83, which has malls and stores. Its near a Walmart on route 53, and Target, White Castle, Dunkin Donuts, Portillo’s Hot Dog, Harley Davidson shop, McDonalds, Burger King, and various other services are nearby courtesy of being located on North Avenue.
When I was there, I stayed at the suite, which, to my experience, was much better than the Burbank Hilton in Burbank, California. More room, more space, better set up. There was a fridge, a microwave, as well as the other amenities in this hotel, and I don’t remember any of that stuff with the Burbank Hilton. Hm.
This has got to be one of my most boring reviews ever. Sorry!
