Super white tuna to die for. Authentic Japanese cuisine feel. Fresh, original and clean!

Ok, not something to write home about. The edamame was chewy and looked pitiful.

Old school menu = delicious. I’m happy this is still a secret for the most part(due to location) because there is never a crowd. Fast and friendly service and great sushi and sake.

Expensive! You would think since I’m paying $ 14 for a roll which wasn’t even good that they wouldn’t charge me for my small miso soup or maybe the small crappy salad. But anyway its the worst miso soup I’ve ever had! Tastes like old people(if that even makes any sense) The salad is the worst salad ive ever had! I love the ginger dressing at most sushi restaurants but this one is nasty. think no liquid added to it, and has no flaver, not even the flavor of ginger, but it must me minced ginger, I just threw away the soup and the salad, waste of $ 8. The $ 14 rainbow dragon roll was unflavorful and small. The green turtle is ok, but not worth $ 11. Next time I’m just gonna order from Sakana or even better sushi nest, they are expensive as well but at least the food tastes good. I really wish I could get my $ 41.00 back, yeah $ 41!!! :(

I only came here for the sushi and I didn’t try the other menu items. The rolls were pretty standard and nothing on the menu stood out to me. I tried the spider roll and the green turtle roll, both of which were edible but not memorable in my opinion. The owners are super nice and checked up on us frequently(we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time).

As a hole-in-the-wall place, it was okay. Food was good overall, but I can’t believe they charge $ 2.50 for one nigiri. Just ONE. I got at least two for the price at Sushi Station. When we got our check, I was surprised that they charged us for tea. Seriously, who charges for tea? Overall an okay experience, but I’ve had better. Probably not coming back here again.

I came here for lunch with coworkers. The sushi was okay, but the service fell far below satisfactory. There was only one other table at the time, but the waitress rarely came by. It took over an hour for lunch, and we were late coming back to work. We chose to go to this restaurant because of their online coupon from their website. The special was $ 7 for two rolls with soup, salad, and a soft drink, or $ 10 for three rolls. Once we got to Momotaro, however, the waitress informed us that the coupon was out of date(even though there was no date on it). She was very firm about what was offered for lunch, two rolls and a soup, and was upset that we would even ask for the special printed on the coupon. During lunch our glasses constantly needed to be refilled, and the only time the waitress came by was to bring us our food. The waitress never checked on us, and we had to wave at her to ask for a check. The price isn’t bad, but it’s not worth it to come back and experience the poor service. I would not recommend this Japanese restaurant; there’s much better in the area for similar pricing.

For a hole in the wall place in the suburbs, this place was actually pretty decent. We ordered the usual: shrimp tempura, dragon maki(shrimp, eel, etc.), beef udon, and a yakisoba. I didn’t see anything special on the menu that’s extraordinary, so if you’re looking for a unique sushi experience, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a relatively decent meal, this place is pretty enjoyable. Prices are normal here as well, though I feel like it should be just a tad bit cheaper for a hole in the wall in the burb. Services always come with a smile and I was pleasantly surprised to see two tatomi rooms.

This is my wife’s favorite sushi(my second favorite)… We enjoy the atmosphere and it’s clean. the servers are very nice. but the sushi is very very good. the spider roll and the dragon roll are to die for. I highly recommend it. It’s not too Expensive… we spend around $ 60-$ 80(alcoholic bevs can tip the scale) It’s worth the money.

I really enjoyed my experience here. I am not a sushi guru, but this sushi was fantastic. When you walk in you get a shot of unsureness because it’s completely empty. Apparently they do a heck of a lot of carry outs. Service was awesome. I really do appreciate their warmness here. I had the Spicy Tuna & Philadelphia Rolls, both quite appetizing. The Philadelphia was def my fave of the two though. My boyfriend had a few Sapporo’s and we had our usual Sake. Sake was decent. He had chicken fried rice which he dogged… came with a soup and salad. Dressing on the salad-eh– but he devoured the Miso soup so that must have been good. We finished off with the Chocolate Caramel Pyramid for dessert. that there was delish!!! I can’t wait to go back and down some more sushi. I will be back MOMOTARO!!!

Absolutely average sushi place. Prices are decent, quality seems alright, though nothing on their menu really blew my hair back. I don’t really have anything bad to say, but at the same time, I don’t really have anything good to say. Make sure you print out the coupons from their web site though, we saved $ 10 we wouldn’t have otherwise doing that.

This is a very friendly place, with good service. I tried it while on business travel and sat at the bar. I asked for a recommendation and went with the Summer Roll(Maguro, yellowtail, cilantro, hot chili oil, avocado) — it was really unique and delicious. I also had the spicy scallop roll, white tuna nigeri and maguro nigeri. Everything was fresh and the presentation was nice — no slopped sauce, etc. I also had the Miso soup and unlike the other reviewers, it was piping hot and delicious. I will go back if I’m ever in the area again. PS — check their link for coupons. I didn’t use one on my visit, but there are several available.

More like 3.5 stars and certainly very good sushi for Chicago. Ambience: Nice quiet place but difficult to find and many locals don’t even know where it is(it’s in the strip mall next to a Benihana’s). Service: Friendly Japanese staff with only a few minor issues in comprehension(both ways). Food: Good quality with a few interesting rolls to mix things up a little. Nothing amazing, but better than you can find in a city that doesn’t do much in the way of sushi. Price: Pretty standard for sushi. I’d go back there if in the neighborhood.

I like this place A LOT. It’s clean. It’s nice. My sushi tastes fresh, not gamey, stinky or «warm»(ugh. nothing worse than lukewarm slimy sashimi– that’s a red flag!) Our service was very sweet. The atmosphere is nice enough that you can make this a romantic date or come early and take the kiddies and let them drop stuff on the floor. Don’t be alarmed if its dead inside. They happen to do a lot of carry out biz b/c of the hotels and offices in the area. Its a good go-to when you’re in the burbs and need some safe sushi. yummers.

So hidden it’s almost hard to find. Momotaro sits in a small strip mall on the South side of Butterfield road in an area I’ve driven past thousands of times. For the record, I’ve never given that entire strip mall a second glance so I was surprised to find something I enjoy. Lunch was rather dead as we were one of three groups dining in. This was surprising considering the location and the large crowds many restaurants pull in. But having grown up in the area I know many locals consider sushi a 4 letter word. It’s the strange food item eaten by others that don’t know what American food tastes like. The menu has a nice selection of more traditional and less traditional items. My maki rolls were tasty. I went with the stereotypical ‘white person’ order and chose the philadelphia and summer rolls. Both were pleasant in their own way. It may be a sin to put cream cheese in a roll but if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that cream cheese tastes good on anything. Momotaro is a nice place to visit if you’re in the area. For the taste and price, I’ll be back every few weeks for a lunch that I really can’t find elsewhere.

Great, authentic Japanese restaurant. I come here on lunches by myself on weekdays during the workweek. Love their special rolls and soup bowls(huge) as well as their bento and other special lunches. Great staff, promptly refills my hot green tea and are very pleasant. I love the food, it always tastes fresh. This place is always full of people taking coworkers and other business associates on a casual lunch outing. The parking has gotten a little more difficult after the nearby subs place opened, but finding a spot’s not impossible.

It was just meh… It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great… and it was rather spendy for such mediocrity. Ambiance was very casual, almost a fast food feel to it. There was only one waitress for the whole place, so she was pretty curt, but she was quick, so that was a bonus. The sushi was just alright. I ordered a couple of rolls for take out.(Late night study session and sushi sounded good!) The rolls were very greasy and two of them had no fried component to them, so not sure where the greasiness came from. The flavor was bland and relatively uninteresting. I would say that overall you could do better in choices of where to get sushi!

Excellent service, very good food, and okay pricing. Considering this place is located in a strip mall, I had lower expectations for the food quality… so was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. That said, I was a little taken aback by the fact that I ran up a $ 45 bill(for myself) with no appetizer, and only hot tea for a drink. I’m a big believer in «you get what you pay for»…but still. If I’m in the area, I’d still probably drop by…

I had take out delivered here for lunch today. Outside of sushi, I have zero Japanese restaurant experience. So I thought I’d try the Oyako Donburri, keeping in mind that I have zero expectations for this dish. It was anything great, but it wasn’t terrible either. It was like a fried chicken frittata over a bed of rice with onions. I definitely expected something a bit more flavorful. We also purchased the Summer roll and a roll with eel and avocado. Again, not bad but nothing special either. They seemed to be poorly rolled but they also could have been knocked around during delivery. Overall I will give it 3 stars based on it being take out. I hope that the dine in experience is much better.

I went back here with my boyfriend and as always their service is great! They had a 10% coupon that we printed and they had a special going. buy a $ 100 coupon for $ 80! We definitely took advantage of that since we go back so often. Every time I go back. I leave full and extremely satisfied =).
