Me and my lady friend dropped in today for breakfast but never the less we walked out disappointed because of horrible customer service… we did not even get to enjoy our coffee and juice did I mention we did not even get to order our food after our 25 min wait only to hear the sever taking someone else’s order. so we payed for our drinks we left… we will never be going back and now we realize why it was so empty… in our opinion you’re better off going somewhere else if not good luck

Pick up order FAIL! I work at an elementary school a few blocks away, and I get 30 minutes for lunch. I phoned in an order for pickup and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes. WRONG! I get to the restaurant and they didn’t even have my order, so after the confusion the cooks began to make my food. Well, there went my 30 minutes. I couldn’t even leave because the food was paid for and they were having issues with their old 1970’s register. All bad… never again. I haven’t even tasted my food yet, hope they got the order correct :(

I used to eat here quiet often and considered it to be my go to for my mexican fix. At some point the food and service began to take a dive. I recall my final visit, the chips and salsa brought out had severely watered down salsa. I’m talking 1 part salsa to 10 parts water. It’s a shame to see but, I’ve moved on and found other places to satisfy the need.

A solid Yucantan style Mexican restaurant with good food, warm people, and reasonable prices. The crispy tacos are yummy!

First visit today, NEVER returning! We LOVE Mexican food… the customer service was great… EXCEPT…they allowed a women to sit and dine AT her table with a Non Service small dog(sitting on the chair next to the woman). I believe the owner was at the restaurant, but am only guessing by her personal inquiries and interaction with all the customers, including the woman with the small dog. However, the food wasn’t that good. The chips were nasty and tasted like they were fried in old oil. I’ve had better Mexican food and my husband and I were honestly disappointed. My intention is not to bash this restaurant, but help future patrons be wary and the owners use it for improvement.

I love the atmosphere of this totally authentic Mexican family restaurant! Tony made me the best hot juicy asada burritito I have ever eaten!!! I am a gringo who has a lot to learn about dining south of the border, especially that different cities and regions have different recipes. Tony cooks many specialties in the Guadalajara style which I just learned about and want to know more and more! At lunch time we really appreciate the fast friendly service. The salsa is to die for! Everything fresh. Immaculate kitchen!!! Very nice people. I am a customer por la vida!

I moved up here to the South bay 6 weeks ago, from San Diego, where we have a plethora of terrific Mexican food joints. I truly miss San Diego for it’s beaches and especially for it’s awesome variety of delicious food venues… However, up here, Alfredo’s has become my favorite Mexican food spot for homemade Mexican food made by true Mexicans. You can tell their food is made from scratch, as it should be and should be made with love. At least that is how I cook abd believe all good should be prepared… The sweet couple, whom I would assume are the owners, are kind and welcoming. Only downfall is that they seem to not have enough help… So, if you need a refill, you may have to ask for it… My favorite dish here is their Breakfast Chillaquiles, which I get for dinner. This dish is offered with two choices of sauce, red or green. I have sampled both and, while I enjoy both, I prefer the green sauce. This dish is comfort food for me, especially when I’m homesick for San Diego. Also, they seem to have reapolstered their booths, which has made them more comfortable to sit in whilst you enjoy your food. The free, warm tortilla chips with homemade salsa are another reason to keep going back here. The chips are light and crispy and the salsa is just the right spiciness. If that weren’t enough, their lemonade is also made from scratch. It is a bit too sweet for me, as I do not have much of a sweet tooth… but my family friends love it and get it every time we go there to eat. I do enjoy the horchata however. I have tasted the horchata at many places and Alfredo’s’ is better than most.

Great food, great service, and a homely feel. Saturday night traffic was perfect, the flow was great, it was never too packed. The food was delicious, servings were good, and food came out quickly. Waiters were attentive and very kind. Definitely coming back!

This is the original Alfredo’s and one of my favorite spots for Mexican food. I love their salsa. It has lots of cilantro which is so delicious. They have lots of traditional dishes and all the food is yummy here. This location is family owned and operated. They also have vegetarian options :)

This is the worst Mexican restaurant. The service was really slow. I had to look for my server to get a refill. Why is it so hard to find decent Mexican food. Do not recommend this place and will never return. How can u mess up taqueria.

Not a bad local Mexican joint. Usually I get their chicken soup — if you’re ever sick and need some soup for the soul, this one is it. Tons of chicken, onions and tomatoes… jam packed with flavor! And thy give you tortillas to have on the side. Yum. This weekend, I found myself there and wanted to try something different. I had a grilled tilapia with garlic sauce dish. It was ok. Garlicky, yes… but sign of a «sauce,» lacking. The fluffy white rice it came with had hard old chunks. Like from the bottom of a pot? Yup, this was it. But I also had their special street corn topped with butter, mayo, cheese and chili powder. Delish. The corn to my surprise was very plump and sweet. All was washed down with a glass of Jamaica. Mmmmmm… Next time I think I will get the pibil. It seems to be the thing to get there(along with their soup). Oh! And chips and salsa are decent. Chips weren’t too thick. Nicely fried, paired with decent salsa that my kids could enjoy(not all that spicy).

The food was pretty good no complaints on the flavor or the amount they give it was enough to fill my hungry stomach. But the service sucked only 5 families in the restaurant and i couldn’t even get refills on our drinks or utensils to eat with

I’m kind of conflicted about giving Alfredo’s a 3 star review. They do have decent Mexican food. Though this really isn’t too big of a feat in southern California, and there are tons of great Mexican food spots all around the Southbay. So anyways, back to my conflicted feelings. On the one hand, the food itself was, as I said, decent. It had the ingredients you’d come to expect from a Mexican restaurant, but for some reason, I was only mildly impressed. It was like all the ingredients were there individually, but only some were working together. There wasn’t too much harmony amongst the flavors, and instead of a delightful mariachi in my mouth, it was more of a bare bachata dance with only one person(it looks kinda cool, but could have used a solid partner to match it). On the other hand, the person taking my order had broken english, and even though I was practically yelling my order to him, he failed to read my order back to me(even though I repeatedly ask this of him). Side note: I ordered take out, so theres a chance they could have great table service, but I would never know it… Anyways, one of the main reasons I asked them to read it back to me was due to a special order in the group. One of us that is lactose intolerant asked for a dish with no cheese. Of course, the dish had cheese when we got it, and of course, we didn’t check until we got home(that one’s on us, so I can only half hold that against them). In the end, I won’t fault this place for me dropping the ball on checking the order, but I feel like they don’t represent SoCal Mexican food to it’s fullest potential.

Amazing Mexican food. The deep fried bananas topped of four lunch. The Pozole soup was worth the drive from Las Vegas. The Boxito with its 12 spices was delicios as was the Chinichitas puli. Thanks uncle Vic & aunt Helen for the great referral

I just moved near the area and decided to try this place out. I brought a large group of friends and family, and I regret my decision. We had a young lady serve us but she seemed to be upset at us for coming in. She was rude to my family and had a terrible attitude. She ignored some of our requests and provided the least amount of service possible. The food wasn’t anything special. Some dishes were better than others but I would never come back because of the incompetent service. They missed out on a great tip. Horrible experience.

I have always been loyal to Alfredo’s. I have given them more than a couple of chances thinking the food will taste like it used to. However, today is my last straw. I usually order their cocido soup which has always been so good and fulfilling. The last two times I’ve ordered it, it was either bland with hardly any meat and just the fat was lingering at top, or lacking flavor. Today I ordered the Chile Colorado and it was inedible. The sauce was dark like mole and the pieces of beef were dry. What saddens me is it appears they’ve given up on their passion for cooking. Everyone knows they want to sell the restaurant, but does it really make sense to lose loyal customers. What a shame.

I must admit, only 2 of us in my family are a fan of this place. So sad! Mostly, it is due to the service, or lack thereof. In my opinion, the service has not gone downhill, it just has been this way from the beginning. If they avoid your flailing arm to get their attention, it’s just not a good thing. My husband refills our drinks for us and gets us extra napkins when we can’t successfully get a waiter/waitress/busboy to come check on us. The 2 of us that still like this place come here about once a month or so. There is a big parking lot behind the restaurant. However, the driveway is very narrow, almost not big enough for a car entering and a car exiting. It can be tricky getting out because there is street parking and those parked cars obstruct the view of oncoming traffic. My husband & I first ate at Alfredo’s when it was on the other side of Lomita Blvd, back in 1986. We have eaten there and at this location numerous times. As our family grew, we all have been dining here. For a while, back in the 80’s, one of the waiters knew exactly what my hubby & I would order and asked if we wanted«The Usual». That was nice. When you first are seated, someone will bring out warm chips and some salsa. The salsa is not hot, but it is good for my children who really don’t want any heat. However, if you need more heat, they have the El Yucateco Green Habanero Salsa, that they will bring to you, eventually. We usually always order Carne Asada Burritos, Carnitas Burritos, Albondigas Soup, Cochinita Pibil, and/or the Carnitas Plate. These are generally the same every time, as in, they are consistently good. They do add A LOT of meat in their burritos! I love that most of their plates(I do mean the plates themselves) come out very hot and are carried with a hot pad. I tried the Boxito Burrito last time I ate here. Eww… it just wasn’t for me. I think it was probably authentic and good if you are used to the flavors & color. The burrito is topped with a black sauce. That sauce is very gritty and I had a hard time getting past the color… I was trying to mentally tell myself it was good, but it didn’t work. Their Albondigas is delicious… it has a giant meatball, carrots, potato pieces, and celery in a savory broth. So, if you can get past the service aspect, and are willing to go strictly for the food, I recommend this restaurant. I would give it a 5 star rating if the service improved.
