I went to Leo’s auto for repairs to my vehicle and I will never ever again let them work on any of my vehicles again. I had some very bad experiences with them. I went to Leo’s auto because my truck wouldn’t start, they told me my fuel pump went out. They charged me $ 700.00 for the repair. 5 month’s later while driving down the road my car starts running real bad to the point where I couldn’t drive it. On the advice of one of my relatives, they told me to take my truck to Blu Automotive off PCH and Figueroa which is a AAA approved shop. They told me my fuel pump was bad, I called Leo’s auto to tell them they installed a piece of crap fuel pump. Leo’s told me to bring it back to them so they can correct the problem. I told them why would I bring my truck back to them so they can put another piece of crap fuel pump in and I would be uneasy thinking this pump is going to go out on me in another five month’s or so. Blu automotive charged me a little over $ 400.00 and I haven’t had any problems. I gave leo’s one star on Unilocal when I wanted to give them 0 stars. Shame on you Leo’s auto. NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL YOU GET ANOTHER DIME FROM ME.

I am disabled and I live on a tight budget. After paying almost $ 150.00 in registration which was almost double because I was 2 months late. I receive a letter from the DMV that I need to get another smog test again. 2 years went by very fast. 2 years ago I had no issues passing smog. I should have taken the car back to the same place as before but I was trying to save money and was baited by the outside sign for $ 39.99 but once inside he almost doubles the price because my car is a 97 and not a 2000 or newer. I was able to negotiate the price to $ 49.99 for a one time only test (pass or fail). I end up waiting for almost an hour only to find out nothing was done. I was told that there system was not communicating with the DMV’s system. I was told to come back at another day. A few days later I bring it back. After about 45 minutes I am told the test is over, my car failed the test. It passed all but the emissions part, they claim was double what it should be. I still had to pay the $ 49.99. No free retest unless I have whatever work done there. Something just doesn’t seem right. I read other recent not so good reviews. My plan was to wait till my next check, and do an oil change and then have it retested where it was tested before. I am disabled and use my car for short local trips to the Dr. s and groceries and I have kept up to date with oil changes and basic maintenance. I noticed less then a week later and my car is now overheating on very short rides. My car is a Honda Civic and it tends to run hot at times and this definitely can effect the emissions testing. I can not prove it but there seems to have been some funny business involved here. This is way too coincidental and now I have to pay even more money to solve a whole new issue. Damn I wish I took my car up the street to begin with. I am out $ 50.00 that I can not afford and my car is now in worse condition then when I brought it in.

I took my cars to this shop until several years ago due to a referral from my wife’s friend. It was great for several occasions (mostly oil changes) until I had some leak problem which the shop pointed out twice during my routine oil change visits. In both occasions, I ended up paying about $ 350. To make the situation worse, this leakage was once again mentioned by my new mechanic at another shop later on… To this date, I prayed to God that Leo’s Auto Repair did fix my car successfully and any subsequent leaks mentioned by my new auto mechanic were unrelated to the original problem.
As my fellow Unilocalers have already pointed out, the price at this shop seems to be much higher comparing to near by competitors. Additionally, a bit more explanation should be provided to customers such as when it should be fixed (ASAP or can wait until next visit), approximate cost (Whether they can refer to another shop if they cannot perform the task with a reasonable price), and etc. As their star rating shows, they seem to have lost and losing many faithful customers and sadly, I was one of them.

This shop is horrible! They try to rip you off! I will be reporting them to the state! Beware and don’t take your car here!

Leo is shady. He just wants your money and then it’s your problem. Try paying $ 195 for a brake inspection!!! Other places they are free. He couldn’t find parts for my older car and told me to get them myself. Then when the brakes didn’t work he said he can’t warranty the car because he didn’t buy the parts. He refused to finish the final job and wanted $ 550 for disassembling part of my car. Bad communication, terrible people skills, talks to you with condescension. Steer clear of his shop. Read the other reviews other than his family members.

Got an oil change yesterday morning which includes topping off all my fluids. I noticed while driving today I was smelling coolant and hearing bubbling when I stopped engine after a while of driving. These dumb people did not tighten the radiator overflow. Ughhh. There was coolant splashed everywhere! I had to go buy another huge thing of coolant from autozone and pour it in. And it took almost the whole bottle. Ohh and he didnt give me the 25% off for checking in. He said «maintenance» doesnt count. Ughh. Never going back here again! And they tried to charge over $ 300 for a new window regulator. Lol I went to another shop and they charged $ 220. These guys were trying to rip me off. Jerks

I need to agree with the many others who have posted. At a minimum, their customer service stinks; more likely, they overcharge and obscure actual work done. I say «more likely» because they REFUSED to answer a simple question about the work they performed on my 2006 Honda Odyssey.
I asked what parts were included in a «Timing Component Kit Water Pump WPK41184» on their invoice. First they said that because the work was done in 2012 it is no longer in their system. Then they said the part number must have been entered wrong because they don’t know what it is. Then, when I faxed them the invoice they said they were too busy to discuss this with me, had already spent too much time with me (less than 5 minutes) and hung up. All I asked them to do was look at their invoice and confirm to me whether the timing belt and tensioner were replaced or just inspected. I told them I wasn’t looking for a warranty repair, just getting information for the Honda Service Center that is trying to diagnose a problem and wanted to know if those parts had been replaced. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?
The Honda Service Center asked me to fax over the invoice from Leo’s so they could try to help me figure out what had been replaced. Bottom line, it appears I was either moderately or grossly overcharged for the known parts that were replaced, and I still don’t know what was included in what they referred to as a «Timing Component Kit Water Pump.»
STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

This guy is a RIP OFF! Stay away! I went for a smog and their very rude and unwilling to work with you to resolve issues. All they want is your money and they don’t care about anything else. Go down the road on PCH and normandie, much more customer friendly and helpful. I’ll never go back to LEO’s

First off this place wouldn’t honor the check in offer they posted so right off the bat they were being dishonest. Apparently they claim the offer doesn’t apply to any service of $ 50+ just SOME but the offer doesn’t list which an they have no way of indicating which I guess only the management knows when they’ll honor it, hell I’d be surprised if they evr do. Frankly they’re substantially overpriced as you’ll read in other reviews. Also although its cute they have their kids learning to work on cars if your paying this level of pricing I doubt you want your vehicle being a practice car for their children/nephew’s. Do your self a favor and head half a mile in any direction to find a better shop.

This place parks a truck on PCH all day with a sign on it to advertise. This unnecessarily creates a traffic jam and risks creating accidents by blocking an entire lane. This is unbelievably selfish and they should be down rated until they discontinue this practice.

We came here specifically for their $ 34.99 deal for the synthetic oil change that is clearly posted on the front page of their website. The manager refused to honor his own deal even as I showed him the deal. His argument was that it was for synthetic blend. Regardless that is not what the website shows. They usually do a good job and we’ve been a years long customer, but if this is their attitude, we’re done with Leo.

I’ve had work done here before and was satisfied, but today I was insulted when I called and asked the cost to replace a very simple part and was told that they couldn’t tell me how much unless I brought the car in first. A fuel pressure regulator replacement is right out of the book. No reason AT ALL not to tell me except they wanted to get the car in the shop and get their hands on it.
When he told me he couldn’t give me a price until he saw the car I said «If I called someone else …» and before I finished the sentence he said «then call someone else!» and hung up on me.
No need to go here when there are more competent shops within just a few miles. They’ve lost my future business.

Love the cleanliness of the shop and as a woman I don’t like going anywhere it is dirty. also really like Gore friendly the staff is and how willing they are too explain any repair that my car needs!

Don’t take your car here. They trick you into getting a smog test with a $ 39.99 deal, then they tell you it didn’t pass. Hector said it didn’t pass because the check engine light was on. I told him it wasn’t on when i brought it in. I told him that I get my car serviced everytime the light comes on. He said its something different. What a coincidence when I drove out my check engine light was on. I don’t know what they did to make it come on. They try to get you to pay for other services to rip you off for more money. I guess I should consider myself lucky, they ripped me off for only $ 39.99 because by reading other reviews they could have ripped me off more. If Hector (whose picture is on here) or the man, I think his name is Leonard (he is in picture ⁵⁄₁₇ on this site) walk out better yet stay away from there. They only want see how much money they can get from you.
BTW: I took my car to another shop for a smog test and my car passed with no problems. Don’t rely on their own personal reviews on their website because they pick the ones they want posted.

I brought my car to have the brake pads and calipers replaced because «Harbor Brake & Auto Repair «in «San Pedro», Ca. told me they needed replacing .(The only reason I didn’t get it fixed there is because I have a car care card I can use there which they don’t accept at harbor brakes) .
When the worker picked me up using my car after it was ready I was noticing a hesitation which was not there before, When we got back to the repair center I asked him if he could tell me what the problem was and he told me that would cost $ 98.00 which I thought was very pricy (considering they charged $ 880.00 dollars for calipers, brakes, oil change, and plugs). They also told me I needed a new battery and wanted to charge me $ 189.00 for that OUCH !!!. Also told me I needed to change my radiator hose (Harbor Brakes checked my radiator hose and it was fine), I looked at it myself and it looked new to me no cracks or bubbles .
I went over to «Auto Zone «to check the hesitation and he told me I should try cleaning my mass air flow sensor (The sensor cleaner cost me $ 4.00) .
I could have bought 9 or 10 of these cleaners with the $ 98.00 dollars they wanted to charge me for a diagnosis. OUCH !!!
UPDATE :» Bureau of Automotive Repair», they will help you when a dishonest auto repair shop takes advantage of you

I had my car towed there a week ago they had to fix several things but good price and great service. After dropping my kid off at school this morning my car wouldnt start! I called Leo’s, explained the.situation. Within 5 minutes Leo and another man were at my house checking it out. They got it started and drove it to their shop. When the little problem was fixed they called and let me know it was ready. With my husband at work, and 3 little ones, I didn’t have a ride there so Leo dropped my car off, popped the hood and explained what the issue was. I don’t think there is another shop that would do that for a customer. Very, very impressed with their work and customer service. Will be going to Leo’s for everything and sending all friends and family there.

I had a gift certificate I won so I came in to check out this place today. Also they have been very supportive of my sons little league so I went there with good thoughts of them. THEY WERE AWESOME!!! Super fast awesome service and they checked in with me by email alrady. I love customer service and they gave great customer service!!!

Went here to get my minivan smogged. Unfortunately my car did not pass smog, but I’m not giving the place a low review based on that. I’m giving them only one star because their prices are outrageous. They offered to do a diagnostic test/​check to see where the problem lies, for a whopping $ 129! What a rip off! You can buy a diagnostic meter/​tester for that price.
Many places offer diagnostic checks for free, or for a low price. So then, I told them I’ll be back once I fix the car to get it re-​tested. But, if they do not do the repair I have to pay again! $ 70 plus certificate fee! If I would have known this I wouldn’t of gone there in the first place. Who knows what they would of charged me for fixing what was wrong, I’ll cut my losses and go elsewhere. I will never go back to this place, it’s just another clip joint overcharging you, I wanted to let everyone know so you won’t make the same mistake.

Great repair shop! The service is terrific — they are friendly and warm — and they did a great job on my car! The rate was decent too — not too high, and they offer good deals. It’s nice to know I have an auto repair place I can trust to do a good job without overcharging me!
