US Post Office

October 2022 - Not sure when other reviews were written, but the workers here are the nicest, especially Teri. My package was addressed wrong (to nonexistent address) and someone there called me instead of automatically shipping back to sender as they normally do. They allowed me to pick up on Saturday even though the window service was not opened. I just called them to let them know a bunch of my packages from the same order are addressed wrong and to please hold them instead of shipping back. Teri picked up the phone and was very patient, friendly, and understanding. I only dealt with 2 employees there but both of them went above and beyond and I'm so grateful to have such nice USPS close to my house!!

Service always stinks. Lines are always long. Office is always understaffed. Information received over the phone is wrong and carelessly given.

Most of the workers are so rude! In a day and age where there is many nice, helpful people desperate to find jobs, I don’t understand why this post office employees people who seem angry at the world and like they’d rather be anywhere but working at the post office. I shouldn’t feel like I am committing a crime by trying to drop off a package or asking a question.

Had to revise my review. My fist review wasn’t so nice. To sum up, mail is opened and money has been taken several occasions.

DO NOT use this Post Office!!! I have used the drive thru boxes several times now and my mail has been lost or delivered three weeks late (just happened this month, Oct. 2015). This has caused me embarrassment, wasted time, and costs for having to cancel checks. Just find an alternative, because I can see from the long list of unhappy Unilocalers that this place is choosing not to deal with this issue.

Ok. About 25% of the time I come here now, the automated postal machine (self-​service kiosk) is not working. Many of the times it’s just as simple as it being out of paper. I came here yesterday (out of paper), then I tried again this morning (out of paper). So, they haven’t bothered to check the machine and stock the paper in 24 hours. Not sure if they’ve even noticed it now.
Instead I drove over to the Torrance location on Monterey. Yeah, it’s more hectic at that location, but at least they actually service their machines. I will not be coming to this location anymore.
This place is rubbish.

Postmaster, the citizens of Lomita need to trust that their mail is safe! Why are you not addressing this problem?
WARNING! Do not use the drive up mail boxes outside the PO. Someone is still placing glue all over the drop off tray, handles & input chute. I went today ⁸⁄₂₇ and someone dropped their postage in the box last night and it was stuck to the inside tray obviously waiting for the thief to come & retrieve it. I notified the Lomita Sherriff’s who told me that they have received several calls about this. I’ve notified the supervisor at this PO over and over as about a year ago the company I worked for had check/​bank theft due to this situation and let me tell you — as your bookkeeper it was a nightmare cleaning this up through the banks. NOTHING has changed at this PO. All that have complained are falling on deaf ears!
if you must mail from here go inside and drop your mail in the slot near the PO Boxes or packages in the large package drop box next to the auto postage machine. Also insure your packages so if they are lost you will be compensated! this is your safest option as the thieves won’t go inside and be caught doing this on Closed Circuit TV.
Mail outside the box at your own risk.

The hours are 9 – 430. Seriously?! So you’re open for retirees and people behind don’t work normal working hours, right?! At 140pm there’s only 1 desk person and the line is 5 deep.

I wanted to write this review in regards to the awesome experience I had with the Lomita Post Office personnel. Back in Feb. of this year, I was at the Lomita Post Office and somehow lost a money order on their premises. That money order was for my rent of $ 795.00, it was not made out to anyone, it still had the receipt part attached to it that you keep so you have your record of whatever is to be paid. I did not realize this for quite some time through out the day. Upon realizing this I was devastated, it was after hours and I decided to try and see if there was anyone that I could speak with in regards to this. I spoke with the night manager Ron, and told him what happened. He gave me the number to the LA Post Office to call them and let them know what happened as the mail had already been picked up and taken there. They told me that if it was turned in I would be notified. Well low and behold I was called on July 2, and told they had my money order, the one thing that was annoying is that they wanted some kind of proof… Um hello I left my name and number in regards to this thats why you called me. I gave them what they needed. Come to find out, there was an elderly gentleman that found this, and unfortunately has been ill and in a nursing home. He finally gave it to a friend of his to take down to the Lomita Post Office to see if anyone would claim it. They said he found it on the ground by the mailbox. I must have dropped it when I mailed some letters. I wish I knew what his name was and the person who took it down there. I want say thank you so much for your honesty. There are still good people in this world. I want to also thank clerk no.2 for calling me and telling me she was so excited about this, and everyone else involved in keeping my number. Thank you for your honesty and integrity. I wanted to share this with everyone maybe put a smile on someones face besides mine. I am writing this for my mom who is 81yrs old.

What ‘s happening with US Post Office Lomita these days? I received at least 8 wrong mail deliveries in last 2 weeks. I reside at the same house in Lomita for more than 27 years, and there were only few wrong deliveries till few weeks ago. UPS and FedEx are perfect in terms of speed, accuracy and attitude!

Everyone at the counter is friendly and does the best although they are always understaffed.
This is my 4^th time happening to me… I ordered 2 blenders from Amazon and yes, they are not light but hey… they have passed the shipping requirement and the package should have been delivered to my house. But no !!! Lomita carrier just refuse to carry «heavy «package and leave the orange slip with one remark «HEAVY «and make me pick up at the postal office. They close at 4:30pm, closed on Saturdays and the reason I order online and NOT go shopping at the local store is because I want it shipped to my house !!! That «heavy «orange slip happened to me twice in the last 2 months. Other 2 shipments — also «too heavy «for the carrier — the tracking shows «Undeliverable as Addressed «although the address is correct and of course… the packages are waiting for me to be picked up .
For all the shipments I requested redelivery but Lomita post office somehow always ignore it. ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE !!!

Horrible service. I just had an employee talk to me with so much attitude like I was stupid. Umm lady I ship packages 4 times a week. Don’t work here if your not happy.
I only write bad reviews if you really get under my skin. Not cool! Hahah

Horrible since I moved into neighborhood. Slow, rude, and now I have a lost package. Tracking states Lomita received it on January 6^th. My goodness… Lucky neighbors are wonderful, but postman is careless.

WORST customer service I’ve I encountered in a long time!
We walked in tonight to mail out a present to my in laws, only to have the door slammed in our faces and told that they were closed. It was 30 minutes prior to the posted closing time that was on that very door!
Now I understand why the postal service is doing so poorly. Maybe they should reevaluate the people they are hiring!
I’d much rather pay a little extra and go to mail store or use FedEx!

I’ve had the «opportunity» to experience the Lomita PO for 6 years.
Not too awful bad, but not too good either.
Missed mail, missed delivered mail and recently — I had to file a theft report to finally get some resolution.
After calling the PO 3x to inquire about missing mail-​order prescriptions, and Netflix DVD’s…and each time being told «no, we have nothing», I filled a claim with the USPS as I assumed the mail had been stolen out of my mailbox.
Lo and behold, within 2 days of filing the report — my missing mail shows up in my box!
My assumption is that no one really took the time to look for the mail at the Post Office, not until they got the report.
Not okay!

I would give zero star if I can. The lady here is slow, arrogant and does not listen to what I was saying. I felt stupid for not trusting the 2.5star review. I’ll never come here again.

I never give bad reviews, but they made me upset! So I work around the area’s school (don’t live in this PO area), but I had to leave a package. Anyways, as I am handing her my package, an asian lady says, «we can’t take your package because it’s not from Lomita» Umm. since when was this a rule. She just didn’t want to take my package. Long story short, very bad customer service!

I have an idea on how to make all these USPS branches more efficient. We can start by eating all the inefficient «single finger» typing prunes and replace them with ANYONE who knows how to use a keyboard and who is grateful to have a job.
To the funny looking old guy in glasses and suspenders at my Lomita Branch. How you actually have a job baffles me. I’m even more baffled by the fact that you have zero typing skills, yet you sit behind a keyboard all day.
One would think that even with zero typing instruction, the repetition would eventually sink in and you would become self taught.
Guess the saying is true, You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
Oh and one more thing… who’s brilliant idea was it to put a clerk out with the customers asking them how they want to ship their packages instead of behind the counter ACTUALLY helping to move the line along? Why are you asking me if my package contains any batteries or perfume, when the counter clerk asks me the same questions again? Are you out there for efficiency? Cause it aint working.

Horrible service! The staff served me is really mean, she refused to tape my package and her attitude repels me. The worst post office I’ve ever been! Never go back there

Worst post office I’ve ever been to. I never one block away… But if I can avoid it, I’ll drive to the post office in Torrance just so I don’t have to deal with the post office here in town. Bad customer service. They refuse to be helpful and answer questions to customers. Each one of them have their own set of rules so every time you go to post office it’s a different story. I own a online store so I’m pretty much at the post office everyday and like to be systematic about my operation. They refused to let me take a picture of my own package? Are you kidding me? What’s the point of having a cashier question everyone when they walk into the door, then fill out a small piece of paper with your answers and then at the register the cashier ask how you sent it sent again without looking at their cheat sheet their coworker filled out? Gah! To top it off, they close at 4:30pm everyday…

A little more work and a little less talk, yeah???
Usually okay but the staff gets a bit chatty sometimes.
All I wanted was one stamp. The clerk waived me ahead (signaling or at least implying that she was fully ready for the next customer) and got the stamp for me, then she started talking to another clerk and customer before giving me change. I asked for my change so I could go and was ignored. Then I just asked her to please send the stamped letter and left, then as I’m out the door the clerk says for me to get my change. Huh??? That’s what I asked for a minute ago. Hopefully my letter got mailed.
You suck… you suck to the tune of 54 cents in change and wasted time and unprofessionalism.
