Description

Specialties

Discover the undiscovered. Turiya wines is a producer of small batch, passion driven, hand-crafted wines from the Central Coast of California. Turiya wines scores grapes from highly acclaimed, impeccably farmed vineyard sources such as Camp 4, Stolpman and Estelle Vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley AVA as well as sources further north in Paso Robles AVA including Amivida and Solana Vineyards.

This über-small, under the radar cult brand is on the horizon as a winery to watch. Turiya is the brainchild of wine drinking, wine writing, female winemaker Angela Soleno.

Turiya only produces red wines specializing in Bordeaux varietals. Wines produced: red blends, as well as bottlings of 100% petit verdot, cab franc, merlot, malbec, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, and sangiovese.

Limited releases. Less than 500 cases produced annually.

«Turiya is wine that extends beyond the latest trends, circling back toward a reasoning intended to remind those collectors of passion that wine is meant to be wine, a class of its own, with flavors that reflect the earth from which it came, and the nuances of each berry.» — Turiya Wines

History

Established in 2008.

Angela Soleno began making Turiya Wines at Central Coast Wine Services in 2008 alongside several other well known Santa Barbara County winemakers; It was a knowledge resource bank. She began asking questions. What are you doing? Why are you doing that? She would ask. She knew what she wanted her wine to be like and her philosophy was to get as much information as possible from a variety of winemakers as well as gain scientific knowledge. Angela quickly enrolled in the Viticulture and Enology program at Allan Hancock College and began formulating her plan of attack for the first vintage. Aiming for an elegant, food-friendly style of wine, Angela decided to select the best fruit available in Santa Barbara County and let the fruit have most of the say-so in the outcome; the fruit did well.

Angela S.

Business Owner

The most common question I get is, «how did you get into wine?». Truthfully, I suffered a broken heart and did what so many do, I looked inside a bottle of wine for answers. I found them in the form of enthusiasm, passion and curiosity. I wanted to learn more, taste more, and experience more. I did a lot of wine drinking… so much that I couldn’t afford NOT to be part of the industry. My passion grew from minor to major. I went to work for a wine producer and witnessed the operations of a small, locally family owned business. I began to understand what a brand was. I witnessed the fall of the economy. I understood the only things that survive in such a world are quality products that you can depend on. I knew that my wine had to be wine, not cheapened by trends or discounts, but made in rare fashion with tradition and culture as it’s foundation. I strive to produce some of the best wines in California and hope to share them with you.

Angela S. says,

«I often get asked who else makes a solid Cabernet (especially when I am sold out) — so try this one — it is lush and pretty!»
