I need dog food! Used Unilocal to find nearby pet stores and came here hoping to quickly grab a bag of dog food… and then I saw the paint on the windows.
«KITTENS! PUPPIES!»
Wait…what?! There are still places around that sell dogs and cats? How can this be legal when there are so many adoptable dogs and cats available at local shelters?
The owners may be really nice people, but I just couldn’t bring myself to go in. The thought of it made me too sad, and I don’t want to support a business that sells man’s best friend. We decided to go down the street a bit further to the Petsmart (Park Meadows and Yosemite). I’d encourage you to do the same.

I am amending this review as I have learned that the entire ownership and management of this company has changed. We’ve been searching for another Havanese or Bichon and only because we’d been told of this and after some very futile searching we’ve been unable to find an appropriate puppy at a rescue, in fact we were almost conned out of a significant amount from someone who was listing a Havanese Rescue.
We stopped at Lone Tree and while they didn’t have an appropriate puppy and the one guy working there seemed awfully distracted by his cell phone, we did go to their Centennial Store and find a lovely little Bichon Frise puppy.

They sell puppies from some horrible breeders. Plus they won’t stand behind a warranty. Our puppy is in need of $ 1800 worth of surgeries. The hereditary disorder is passed on in the breeder they use. Never buy from a pet store especially this one!

I would be giving five stars because I have gotten two of my dogs here and I am currently in the market to get another wheaten terrier and the last two times I have been in a have been refused to hold the dog I want to buy. She is extremely rude and doesn’t have any customer service skills. It could be because she is younger and she doesn’t know how to treat people but that’s not the way. You have to be able to hold a dog and somewhat socialize with it in order to know if it’s a good fit. She is pushing customers away. The only good person who works there is lisa and I will only go in there if she is there. Lisa is absolutely amazing!
I have decided to change my one star to a three star due to the fact that every time I go in there and Lisa is there she is absolutely amazing. If only there were more Lisa’s there. I have read a lot of reviews about unhappy people with their puppies. I got both my wheatens from just pets at lone tree and have absolutely no complaints people need to realize puppies get sick and my dogs got giardia as do most puppies which can be caused by many things it’s not the pet stores fault. My dogs are happy and healthy and as soon as I am able I will be purchasing another wheaten terrier and I will only be doing business with Lisa.

We had an awesome experience just now at the «Just Pets» in Lone Tree. Ariel assisted us in purchasing an 8 week old Shipoo puppy for our 13 year old daughter. Ariel, was knowledgeable, and very friendly. She made our experience a memorable one. I recommend «Just Pets» to anyone looking for a dog.

Do not go to this store! I purchased a puppy who immediately had loose bowels, blood in stool. Within 24 hours, I was on my way to vet. Sickened with their justification that most dogs are like this, I was smart enough to return dog for partial refund. Research indicates breeder is top 100 puppy mill in country, had many USDA violations and gave up license. I offered to provide store with documentation twice. They do not want to know! Do your homework first before you fall in love! Google store and breeder, look up BBB, look at social media. Beware!

We purchased a puppy from Just Pets last summer. Upon taking him to the vet we learned he had Giardia. We had him treated, at our cost. Two members of our household contracted Giardia from the puppy, and they too were treated at our cost.
When we approached the lady owner with the bills, she had some rather stupid things to say. First, she said we had to expect that puppies get sick. Yes, we replied, they GET sick, but we didn’t anticipate purchasing an already sick puppy. Second, she said Giardia is not covered under their contract. Nice. Third, she said it was impossible for humans to contract Giardia from dogs as it is a different strain. It isn’t. and we did. And of course she said she’d talk with her husband about the bills and get back to us, and never did.
Also, if you do buy a puppy from Just Pets, expect your designer dog to get quite a bit bigger than the dog’s «parents». We were told ours would be between 5 and 7 pounds. He’s 9 pounds and still growing. His once glossy black coat also faded to mostly grey by six months old.
Bottom line? I would never buy another pet from Just Pets. Next time we’ll find a reputable breeder, meet the parents, and get a certificate of health before bringing a puppy home.
I find it interesting that there are currently NO reviews on Unilocal for Just Pets that are positive. Hmmmm.

I purchased my Pomapoo puppy from Just Pets in June of 2011. I love my little girl and would never change a thing about her. However I feel I should share some of the things that has caused me to never purchase from this pet store again.
To begin, the environment in this pet store is very welcoming and had a strong sense of community with pictures of previous pet purchases taped on the walls. The store was clean, the staff (Joel S.) friendly, and puppies as cute and lovable as ever.
The experience at the store, however, was deceptive. I bought Lili, my puppy, under the assumption that her care at the store was top notch. When I took Lili into the vet we discovered that she had several problems. We’ll start with the ear exam — she had ear mites, an ear infection, and the start of a yeast infection in her ear! The vet said that this happens when moisture gets in the ear and doesn’t get dried out. It was a pretty bad ear infection that required a few weeks of at home ear treatments that were a pain to give to a little puppy. Not only were these a hassle, but the medication itself was costly. I believe that the bathing she was receiving at the store was sub-​par, that or they just don’t take well enough care for their puppies.
The next thing I noticed about Lili was that she had a horrible case of eating her own poop! I consulted my vet and did some research and discovered that this behavior is very common among pet store and puppy mill dogs. Thankfully we broke that habit about eight months after we got Lil. To accompany her coprophagia I discovered, due to her lack of appetite and horrible gas, that she had Giardia. Basically intestinal parasites from eating her own poop… nothing that expensive medicine can’t fix, right? Poor thing had foreign parasites in her body, ear mites in her ears, a small case of kennel cough, and all the while she was romping around with our older Pomeranian. All of these health issues presented themselves as a huge surprise due to the fact that Joel, the manager who vouched for her care and health, ensured that she was eating well and acting like a healthy little pup should. I’m not trying to bash him because he was a very nice guy but it seems that he didn’t really know each puppy and their personality as he made me think.
Just Pets has a policy where you need to get a puppy wellness exam within seven days of your purchase. I got Lilian into her wellness exam on day seven and, well, all of her basics were good so I wasn’t too worried — but I didn’t realize her behavior was abnormal until about a week and a half after purchasing her. It wasn’t until my second vet visit that tests were taken to diagnose Lili of all her issues.
Thankfully, a year and a half later, Lili is a healthy, fun loving puppy. Having a little puppy of my own is such a blessing but the health issues I encountered added an unforeseen cost to my little girl. I will not recommend this pet store to anyone, I’ve learned my lesson to never buy from a pet store again.
I would also like to add that I am not trying to falsify Just Pets claim of being not like the regular pet store by not supporting puppy mills. However I am saying that Lili’s health problems were similar to those of a puppy from a puppy mill or an unreliable breeder.

I purchased a puppy from just pets about six weeks ago. They give you five days to get the puppy checked out at a vet. I did this… the vet listened to his heart, and gave him a basic exam. She noticed that the puppy had a really bad ear infection. This was not enough cause to return the puppy, so we brought him back home and gave him ear drops. She took a stool sample at the time, but it took a week to get results. We found out (after the return policy window expired) that he has giardia. He started coughing and sneezing at this time as well. Kennel cough. He has not been around any other dogs (we had only had him for a week when we found out that he had all of these issues) so he must have picked up the bugs at the pet store. I am out $ 500 on vet bills now, and am really unhappy about it. When I googled the breeders name, I found out that she breeds hundreds of puppies… wouldn’t that be a puppy mill? I am so disgusted with myself for purchasing from a pet store, and I will never do it again. Lesson learned.

The only positive I give this store is the nice young man who helped us. Other than that, STAY AWAY! We’ve had nothing but headaches with this store. We bought a Beagle with intentions of breeding for hunting. After looking at the pedigree line, she seemed perfect. We moved out of state weeks after getting her. When trying to register her with AKC the store would never release our new address. They said it had to stay with them. After months of battling going no where we gave up. They also bought this dog from a puppy mill in Kansas, which they told us they get them from ‘good breeders’. After taking her to the vet, our dog has a couple of genetic diseases that he said comes from breeders who don’t care about the outcome of the dog longterm. They also claimed they microchipped her. After 4 different vets looking for one and not finding it we finally got an x-​ray, no chip! They had given us fake papers and everything. This business is a complete scam to well intentioned people.

Staff was very helpful and PATIENT! Couldn’t be happier with our new puppy. Got all the info we needed and more.

I like most of the staff at this pet store, and the puppies and cages are clean — which is the only reason it gets any stars at all.
The lady owner is pushy to the point of being tacky, never missing a chance to tell about how many people have purchased puppies from her and what a great deal you are getting. Today I went in to look at a Cavalier King Charles, as I am hoping to get one in the next 4 months. I have researched them extensively but wanted to really see one in action. The owner seemed put off by me asking about the parent’s dogs heart cerification and other important questions to know when looking to purchase a Cavalier. She was rude to the point of finally saying that I could not hold the dog if I wasn’t going to purchase it. She even said that most people don’t worry about a dogs long term health, just if they are healthy at that moment. She stated that most dogs are from USDA breeders and knowing more about them isn’t necessary (a completely inaccurate statement).
I guess I had (stupidly) hoped that there were a few pet stores out there that were more of a filter for weeding out the bad breeders and giving good dogs to good families. That belief was quickly shattered. Just left a bad taste in my mouth… sad, b/​c I love to go in and look at the puppies and had hoped to purchase at some point.
