Platos Closet

I’d hate my life too if I worked here. Employees were terrible, no customer service. Came in with a bag full of clothes I paid $ 60 each from j crew and they said they’d rather have zumiez or pac-​sun labels. I guess their demographic is cheap. Got $ 40 for a pair of brand new vans in box, brand new Levi jeans with tag, brand new nike running shorts, a Nike windbreaker I paid $ 200 for 3 years ago, and a couple misc. button ups. Really interesting buying process, made me wait 2 hours to get my price they’d give me and I should have just sold the shit on Craigslist. Never sell there. Buy there if you’re a poor teenager.

The employees here are ah-​MAY-​zing. Sam is my favorite. so fun, total sweetheart, such a doll.
I’ve never shopped in a store where the employees tend to the dressing rooms like they do here. There is a 6 item limit when trying on, which would ordinarily be super annoying having to redress & undress, but as you try things on you hang it over the door & they swap your items. for someone like me who reeeaallly dislikes trying on clothes in the store, this is a huge added convenience.
Make sure to ask for a store ‘punch card’. one of those spend so much, save so much on your next visit deals.

A good selection which rotates fairly quickly for this type of store. As a buyer I’ve been fortunate to find a couple of nice items. They’re usually not too pricey for shorts and tees, but can be a little high on jeans. Sometimes shoes are a bit overpriced for the condition, however, deals can be found. As a seller I can say they’re picky and I don’t have too many issues with that as I suspect it’s why I like the selection. They carry more youth oriented items, less dress clothes and have recently expanded their selection of sportswear. The sales staff is usually unobtrusive, but friendly and happy to get you checked out. I’ve seen the 1 star reviews, all by women who may have had a very different experience than I. I’d just say that from the male perspective this is a 4 star experience.

Although I live in Southern California, I visit relatives near Lone Tree often. I always include a visit to Platos Closet. The store is geared toward the younger crowd, but I never fail to walk out of there with an armful… even being a well-​established senior!!! You can’t beat their selection and their prices. I take my teenage grandkids and they have a ball! If you’re near Park Meadows, you’ve got to at least stop by and take a look… you’ll be surprised!

What a complete JOKE! I took in 2 Donna Karen New York sweaters that were worn a couple time (still looked brand new with no stains, no wear and tear) Marc Jacobs and Vera wang sunglasses, a barely used coach purse, for them to not really have a good reason as to why they would not buy. The coach bag had a very light blue dye from my jeans rubbing on the back on the bag, nothing that someone would notice, unless you examined it as she did. I took the coach bags down the street and sold it for $ 30. It’s funny that they’re so «picky» when half of the crap I looked at was scuffed up, with noticeable wear and tear. At least hire people that look like they have style, instead of some pudgy chick that look like she just rolled out of bed to tell me my sweaters were out of style because they were form fitting. What a waste of time!

It’s 4:40pm on a Tuesday. I bring in a bag of clothes and am told that they will not né able to complete the procrssing until 8:45pm. (4 hour wait)
I inform the associate that I go to bed at 8pm, so I’ll need to collect it tomorrow, but would still like to drop it off…
She informs me that if I can’t pick it up tonight then I can’t drop it off… I let her know my commute time is 20 minutes each way and I don’t want to have to bring it again and start the process all over again … I was so frustrated, I just left! I’m terribly upset by the lack of customer service. And expecting a customer to wait 4 hours… unacceptable.

I always like to go to different Plato’s Closets but wasn’t too impressed with this one. One of the employees was so loud while singing and talking to his co-​workers. Also, I didn’t understand why there wasn’t a bench or chair in the fitting room to set my purse or personal clothes on. On a positive note. I appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of other employees on the floor.

Love going to Platos to sell old clothes I don’t wear anymore and they have bought many times from me and offering decent money. This store is huge with a great variety of clothes !!! I feel like most is reasonably priced ! Lots of selection and sizes I could look for hours. The staff is friendly and will ask if they can start you a bin or fitting room so you don’t have to lug tons of clothes around. Most clothes are in good conditions and up to date. Also lots of name brands and hidden treasures of you take time to look. Trying selling old clothes in there too ! The punch cards are nice when you get all stamps it’s 20% off your total purchase !

I had heard good things about Plato’s closet but had never been in one. This is a huge location with a lot of clothes. Sadly I’m not 20 and a size small. Nothing here for me but if I had teenage girls and needed to get them clothes I’d bring them by to check out the place.
Men’s section seems small compared to women’s but it seems quality is better there too.
Staff was very friendly and they were busy with lots of take-​ins while I was there.
Having never been to one I was a bit surprised they took purses and jewelry too. Sunglasses and a few books were also laying around.
Store was clean and staff courteous.

I’m addicted! They have a great selection of clothing with good prices. All the gals that work there (except one) are pleasant to work with. And Matt is nice too. See! I am addicted. I even know the names of the staff!

Great store for budget buyers. Staff is friendly, and you can find current styles (and brand names) at ridiculously low prices. Example: I found a NWT JCrew sweater ($ 88 tag) for $ 14. They are justified in being very picky about what clothes they’ll buy from you because their target market are primarily teens (nobody wanted my NWT Jealous Tomato batwing dress, or my barely worn LOFT business dress). We might love our clothes, but that doesn’t mean other people will want them. I agree that at 34, I may almost be too old to shop here, but if you’re a kid with a $ 20, come and check this place out.

Great place to shop… terrible place to sell your clothes. We took two HUGE bags of clothing in today and we were told to wait 3 hours. I understand since the place was packed but to have to call them and ask them 3 hours later if they were done yet is ridiculous. I have a life and don’t have time to have to wait around for them to be done. They should have called to let us know so we weren’t wasting our time at park meadows. When we went in they told us they only took $ 8 worth of stuff. $ 8. That is absolutely ridiculous. All of the stuff in the bags was well taken care of and just stuff that we didn’t really wear anymore. Most of it was brand name. They are just ridiculously picky. So good luck.

–Customer Service is great, they always greet you and take your clothes back to the fitting room while you’re shopping.
–Clothes are often very worn, have holes, or unnoticed stains.
–Clothing is meant to be sold to teens or young adults; they don’t like my «professional» stuff.
–Rarely do I get any worth while $ here but it’s fun to look around when I’m in the mood for thrift store shopping.
–All in all, I used to like this place until I realized I was «too old» for their styles (I’m 27). Keep this in mind when shopping/​buying/​selling here!

This place sucks. They moved to a bigger location just down the street from where they used to be but not much has changed. Go in with 200 $+ worth of clothes and walk out with 10 $. Don’t waste your fucking time. It’s a joke now.

I’ve been coming here on and off for the last four years or so. Their men’s section is rather small but I always find great jeans. I like to think that the men in the area don’t come in that often because I always find great, hardly used designer jeans. The shirts are kind of blah but the jeans and FRIENDLY staff make me like it here.
They also give you 10% off the highest price item for Foursquare check-​ins! :D

I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars, so since I had a nice customer service experience today, I’ll bump it up.
.. . but I doubt I’ll be back. My boyfriend went to a different location to sell some of his belongings and made $ 20. I figured I might as well try to sell some of the nicer items in my donation bag (lots of Express.) They wound up buying five items (two Express tanks, a belt, denim Old Navy capri pants and something else I can’t recall.)
For $ 12, which is better than $ 0, but after a 45 minute wait, it was a minor let down. Though, I wasn’t expecting much. .. maybe a few dollars more.
You have to sign over your address and other contact info and can’t leave the store while they examine your clothes. Several other people came and left after being quoted a 45 minute wait at 2p on a Tuesday afternoon. I can understand why.
Like others have said, they prefer to buy what’s in season (so, denim skirts, shorts, and capris for summer), and clothes that aren’t more than a few years old.
What I don’t quite get is why they’re so picky when the majority of the items for sale are visibly worn (faded, mostly). Plato’s Closet is a great place for teens on a budget, but as an adult woman there just wasn’t anything I was interested in purchasing.

This plato’s location has a pretty good selection of stuff (but I suggest the one in Littleton off of Wadsworth/​Cross near SW Plaza instead).
This location, near park meadows is pretty good. The staff there is friendly and I have never had a bad buying or selling experience. They carry trendy items for a pretty good price.
Overall, a good place if you are looking for a good deal.

I love this Plato’s Closet! When you bring your stuff into sell anywhere you go you have to think of it this way… If you don’t want those clothes anymore, why would someone else want to pay money for them? Honestly. If it is something you really love, but you just never wear, and it is still fashionable, then there is a good chance they will buy it. This place is a business and they have to make money too, so you can’t be butt hurt if they don’t like the clothes that you don’t like anymore.
Besides the selling process, going in here has always been a good experience for me. They don’t over price the clothes they are reselling. When you buy or sell you get a punch card and after 12 punches or so, you get 20% off your next purchase. The girls are always friendly and in a good mood! They ALWAYS explain to you what they are looking for, and reasons for not choosing your apparel. You have to wait in the store while they process your clothing, but I always seem to find good finds while I am waiting. Half the time, I buy the same amount as I just sold. (whoops)
Ultimately, if you like bargains, and don’t mind buying used clothes, this is a great place for that. If you like the recycling process and you need to get rid of some things, I would always swing by and see what they will take. Don’t bet on this place as a money maker, just an extra boost when you want to clean out your closet.

Okay so Plato’s Closet ahhh!!! Here I think is the low down.
If you are trying to sell stuff you better have just bought it from the mall last week and only worn it once in order for them to buy it. They are very very picky. But that is how they make their money if you buy a $ 30.00 skirt they will buy it from you for $ 6.00 and then resale it for $ 12.00. It is just the way it is. So if you think that you will go in and make «MONEY» umm not so much. The items that they don’t want to buy they then offer it take the others for you to donate to goodwill or other organization.
But I gave it 3 stars because buying here is better. I go here to get jeans, skirts, once in a while a dress, shorts and sometimes a top or so. Their prices are fair but better when you go during a sale. Go in here an have an open mind and time to look through all the racks. You can find some good gems here.
P. S. The employees (aka high school girls) here are very friendly almost to much. I got asked by the same girl ¾ x’s if I needed any help, hold the items I wanted. Maybe I am just the forgettable or she was super bored. Either way. Oh and parking sucks at this one.

So I started shopping here earlier this year in attempts to «Green» my retail habits. The clothes are okay for the most part but you really have to be careful of holes, snags and missing buttons. Some of their accessories they sell are also heavily worn. However, I was relatively happy with my experience there up until this past week.
I went into the store to do exactly what they say. «Sell back your old clothes and get ‘new’ ones» What did I try to sell exactly? Well, 90% of my bags were items that I had purchased at this very store a couple months ago. The other 10% consisted of ALL name brand items that I acquired over the last two years. I was told, «I’m sorry. We can’t accept any of this as we only look for items that are within the last year.» I can understand not accepting the banana republic shirts that I purchased two years ago but I have trouble understanding how items that I have purchased at this very store not two months prior are suddenly «too old» to be in the store.
Needless to say, I was incredibly disappointed. Not only have I myself have purchased items here that were from prior years, but the items I tried to sell were from the end of last year. (For Gap, Inc. items, you can tell when they are made by the small white tag behind the care tag) I hate to say it but I almost felt like a snap decision was made the moment I walked into the store as their «review» of my items too no longer than 5 minutes.
Sorry, Platos. You had a VERY good customer as I easily dropped over $ 100 every visit I made (which was at least twice a month) I will no longer be shopping at this or any location. Really though, I should have stopped shopping there just from the snotty teenage-​grade service alone.
