A A Comet Commercial Residential Custom Made Draperies

I was referred to Jeff at A A Comet to dry clean my drapes by someone I trusted. I called and told him that I had the drapes from my rental property in my car and I’d like to deliver them to his store for cleaning. He said he was in the field and offered to meet me and pick them up in an hour. Two hours later when Jeff arrived he was unable to give me a quote because he needed to measure them (my drapes are large and heavy). So I signed a release, which I didn’t get a copy of, and he took my drapes and said he’d call that evening with the price. The following day I called him and he said he was still working on it. Another day passed and Jeff called to say it would be $ 600. Okay, I had no idea that it is so expensive to dry clean drapes. So I said I could not afford it and I would pick them up from him on Friday. A little later I got a voice message from Jeff saying that I would need to bring $ 100 cash in order to get my drapes back. What! We had no prior agreement for payment just to receive the quote. Eventually the person who referred him talked him down to $ 50. Jeff justifies the ransom by saying it took 5 hours to work up the quote and that it covered his trip fee. Ignore the company website that says FREE estimate, pick up, and delivery! In the course of our heated conversation Jeff insulted my upbringing, said I could afford it (based on my having rental property I guess) and claimed that I was treating him as if he was from «south of the border». He said $ 600 was a deal for his service because he’d dropped the price $ 200 because of my association with the person who referred him. He also claims that the paper I signed obligated me to have him dry clean my drapes at any price. No wonder he refused to give me a copy of the paper when asked for it.
All I can say is run, don’t walk, away from this man and his shady business!
